What A Difference A Day Makes

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Friday was a much better day. Thankfully the dark cloud of misadventures over my head moved on. Hopefully it has went far far away. Took the day to rest up from my busy week. In retrospect that is probably something I should have done on Thursday. emoticon Anyway I caught up on some reading. The fitness, health and weight loss magazines that I ordered from my grandsonís fundraiser back in August are beginning to roll in so I read a few of those. I also pinned on PINTEREST a couple of low fat recipes I would like to this week. If they turn out as good as they look I will happily share them in a future blog. I also watched a couple of old movies that I have seen before but wanted to watch again. Memoirs of a Geisha and The Last Samurai. Both excellent movies! All in all, I enjoyed a much needed relaxing day.

As far as my weight loss goes, I am nearing the end of my 8th week back on plan. I have shedded 15 of the 30 lbs I regained this year. Which brings me to 90 lbs in total. So far so good. However all I have done the last several weeks is basically return to healthier eating along with the normal activities I do (cleaning, keeping up with grandson, home improvement projects, etc). I think it is time to add more of a consistent exercise routine back into the mix in the form of daily walking. So beginning today I will make the time and effort to walk every day. I think I will also invest in a Walking DVD. I know the winter months are approaching fast and even though I love the sight of snow, I hate walking outside when I can't feel my legs. Brrrrrrrr So if anyone can suggest a good one to purchase, I would greatly appreciate it.

Wishing all my Spark buddies a wonderful weekend! BIG thanks for the continued help and support. I appreciate all the comments, goodies, advice and most of all friendship. Keep Sparking!! emoticon

Sounds like you had a nuce relaxing day!! Ihaven't been able to do too much exercise with this nasty cold I have had for the past 2 weeks. It aggravated my bronchitis so any exercise makes me cough my head off or get winded very quickly. The Lesley Sansone walking DVDs, as everyone on here has alreayd said, are great!! My cable company used to carry her DVDs on their Exercise Channel and then took her off after a while. I don't like the person they replaced her with. Lesley's segments were so much easier to follow and she gave you enough time to segue into the moves that accompanied the walking. I think Target carries them and then their is always Amazon to order fromif all else fails. ]

Have a great weekend!!

So happy for you Sallie, having such a great day Friday. I also love Leslie Sansone walking tapes. She is happy and encouraging and you can walk 1, 2, or 3 miles with them and that means a lot to me. Also, no one is watching what you are doing. lol Have a super weekend. ((HUGS))

I use Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds. I've had mind forever and forget where I bought it at but I got a box set that has 1,2,3, and 4 mile walks along with a resistance band to use also. Upbeat music, simple to understand moves, I really love them!

Some Days Should Come With A Warning

Friday, October 19, 2012

Ever have one of those days, the ones where EVERYTHING seems to go WRONG! Well, I certainly did yesterday.

Getting up first thing in the morning I ran smack into a wall trying to avoid stepping on one of my cats on the way to the bathroom. I am happy to report I missed the cat entirely, the wall not so much. I stubbed my big toe and broke it open. OUCH! I havenít done that in years but it served as a reminder of how painful it is to do. And it should have been a clear warning to me on how my day was about to unfold. After bandaging my wound and getting dressed, I ventured forth to the kitchen to heat a cup of water for some tea. The microwave had other plans however and exploded, water going everywhere. I took a very deep breath, cleaned up the mess and tried to decide what to have for breakfast. I wasn't really hungry so I settled on a Slimfast. I took the can from the refrigerator, opened it, placed it on the kitchen table and went to get the newspaper. Moments later I forgot I had opened the can and absentmindedly went to shake it again. You guessed it; chocolate hit me, the table, wall, kitchen counter and floor. I sat there in utter disbelief for a minute and wondered what next? I cleaned myself and things up and left the house to walk the dog. I wasnít but four houses away before I stepped in a pile of dog poo. Fortunately for me my dog had already relieved herself so I rather quickly returned home. I go to clean off my foot and shoes in the bathroom and drop one of my shoes in the toilet. Feeling completely frustrated at this point I am now in tears but eventually I calm down. After lunch I went downstairs to my craft room to finish the last of the pumpkins I was painting for my grandson. There I succeeded in spilling black paint all over me, my work desk, not to mention the CARPET! Yes, I was definitely on a roll. I guess it is a good thing replacing the carpet in the house is on my To Do List. My day continued on with mishap after mishap. I left my wallet at the grocery store and had to run back to get it. I picked up the wrong over the counter medication for the husband. I even managed to get stung on the hand by a flying something. Not sure if it was a bee, wasp, yellow jacket or hornet. All I saw was the stinger which I removed promptly and felt the instead PAIN which lastly quite a while, several hours in fact. I havenít been stung since I was a 7 or 8 so I took some Benadryl to be safe and put some hydrocortisone cream on it. Later on I scorched dinner, horribly I might add and ended up eating a peanut butter sandwich because I forgot to pick up deli meat when I was food shopping earlier. And last but not least, I tripped over the dog on my way to bed which was not fun for either one of us. No broken bones. However I still canít figure out how I can miss a cat but not my 65 lb Labrador, or the bedroom wall earlier in the day? Hummm I guess I aim BIG! emoticon

In hindsight, I should have just stayed in bed!!

Busy Day and Fun Weekend Ahead

Friday, October 12, 2012

Okay, so yesterday was a complete bust. Nothing accomplished unless you count keeping my eyes opened. emoticonI was way too tired from getting only 2 hours sleep the night before to do anything. However last night was better sleep wise so today should be much more productive.

I have to clean the house, assemble 3 Halloween craft projects and make some Halloween inspired treats for the grandson to enjoy this weekend. His soccer game is tomorrow at 9 which DH and I will attend. emoticon Afterwards he is all ours until after dinner on Sunday. emoticon Some of this weekend's happenings will be: brunch with the grandson, checking out the Halloween goodies at Michaels (the grandson loves the little spooky village displays), pumpkin & scarecrow shopping at the Farmers Market, decorating the house Halloween style and assembling our haunted yard display, spooky movie with popcorn of course, playing with assorted toys, kid friendly Halloween crafts and dinner at Olive Garden (I'll be using one of my birthday gift cards) before dropping him off to his dad Sunday night. Looking forward to having LOTS of FUN with the little guy! In the meantime I best get busy!

Have a great day and weekend Sparkies!! emoticon emoticon
