Back Injury

Thursday, July 19, 2012

No weigh in this week. Moving even a little = PAIN. Woke up Monday with discomfort on my lower right side and as the day progressed, the worse it got. Painful with each and every movement with spasms on top of that. I am having to sleep on the sofa recliner as I can even maneuver myself into bed. I went to the doctor yesterday. I have a badly pulled muscle, and significant Arthritis in my hip that has been aggravated. Needless to say I am out of commission for a while. It seems this month I am accident prone. First my Achilles, and now this. Can anyone say BUBBLE WRAP?

DH and I had our grandson over for a sleepover Tuesday. DH took care of him while I sat and watched. The little guy was such an angel and so understanding. Every time I would get up to go to the bathroom. He would stop whatever he was doing, back himself up to the couch to offer me his shoulder, and say, "Mema, lean on me and I will help you." emoticon What a grandson!

Oh no!! I can honestly say, I feel your pain (or felt it) I just got over a sore back. I don't know if you have a good one in your area, but my chiropractor is an angel on earth. He keeps everything in the best possible order and helps shorten healing times.

In the mean time, use this period as a chance to relax and work on other aspects of your life - when a door is closed, a window is open... or at least that is what I try to tell myself so I don't become impatient waiting to heal.

Hang in there!!

Sallie, you are surely having a time. But with your dd also out of commission for a while, maybe it will give her extra time to think and maybe reach some "right" conclusions and see the light. Praying that you heal quick, just do what dr says and take it easy. Remember, the better you follow dr orders, the quicker you will be better. That was Ashley's motto after his back surgery, especially when he started feeling better and really wanted to do things but found out when he "slipped" he paid for it the next day. I think we can sometimes sleep in a wrong position and get our backs out of whack. (((HUGS)))

This would be a good time to strengthen your mind. It would be so easy to get away from your goals when part of them are set aside. Stay on top of it and do what you can. Look up not down! You will get through this Sallie. You have a good foundation. Don't let it slip away. emoticon emoticon
I pray for your quick healing in all of this.

On an encouraging note, I have been where you are and chronically prone to reinjuring my back for years. You are right on about needing to strengthen your back muscles. About 6 mos into SP, I realized that I had no back pain anywhere, not even the shoulder where muscles had been torn in an accident. There are even a few things you can do now in the way of exercise. Use one of those little arthritis balls you can get at a drugstore to squeeze and work a few arm muscles. Try gentle walks around the house. Look for foods like papaya that have natural inflammatory qualities. Get someone to bring you some library books or watch some favorite movies. If you have to rest, have the best time you can doing it! Prayers for a speedy recovery and for patience in the meanwhile.
