Primary Update:

Thursday, May 15, 2014

I have now been taken off 1 Blood Sugar med. Januvia has been linked to kidney damage and my primary doesn't want me on it anymore. That is the second medication I have been on that has been linked to kidney damage. Anyway the doc wants to see how my sugar does without it before beginning anything new. Otherwise I will see him again in July. My Blood Pressure was 144/82 today. Not horrible but not perfect either. Oh well, doing the best I can. New Blood work scheduled for Tuesday morning!!!! :|

Sounds like you have a good doctor.

Does he have you watching your simple carb intake (pasta, breads, etc.) too? I have family members who have been diagnosed with diabetes and it can be a challenge. I recently read the book Wheat Belly, and the doctor said that two slices of whole wheat bread have a higher glycemic index than a Snickers bar. That was a shocker!

Missed Out On Grandson's Game

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Well, I didn't make it to the grandson's soccer game this morning. Wasn't feeling well so I decided to stay home and rest. More like SLEEP that is! Fortunately for me the game was canceled due to rain. Although this is all so not like me, the Mema who never missed anything concerning Peanut nowadays can't see to get my get up and go to attend much of anything. I HATE feeling sick and tired ALL THE TIME!! And I am sure the grandson is sick of me feeling this way too!

Anyways tomorrow had better be different because I will not miss Easter with the little guy even if I feel like death warmed over, I will be there! emoticon May need drink lots of coffee, take extra vitamins and use plenty of makeup but that will be better than missing another memory moment with my precious grandson.

I am sure that your Peanut loves you and that he would rather have you here this way than no way. Do what you need to do get well again. Don't overdo.

I know it seems very frustrating but you don't want to set yourself back. A little at a time makes the journey to the finish line.

Sleep Study

Friday, April 18, 2014

I lived through the Sleep Study last night if you can call it that. Only got minutes, seriously minutes of sleep before the tech woke me up at 5:30 am with a very cheerful "Good morning Sallie!". How they expect anyone to sleep restfully on a mattress that resembled a plank of wood and a pillow made of concrete I have no idea. Upon arriving home this morning I went to bed and slept cor 3 glorious hours. WOOHOO! Chalk it up to an experience I don't wish to repeat any time soon. Wondering what results I can expect from this? I guess someone somewhere is going to say I have trouble sleeping. Gee, I could have told them that without the torture! lol

They may however, be able to tell you the reason you aren't sleeping well.

This is one of the reasons I never went for a sleep study.

God bless you and I hope everything turns out in your favor. emoticon

Glad you survived the study. I have to go for another one next month. It will be my 3rd. I had a sleep apnea/base of tongue surgery in December. The dr. wants to see where I'm after - he thinks that I may not need my machine. The study itself is definitely interesting - praying for good results for you!

Kidney Specialist Update

Thursday, April 17, 2014

So add 4 more pills to my daily regimen. My Kidney Specialist is NO JOKE! Found out today that I am retaining fluid again, also my body has way too much ACID in it and my GFR (overall kidney function) has dropped to 19. 15 is Total Kidney Failure so I'm real close. Moving forward on preparing for Dialysis and Transplant. Education classes begin next month. In 3 months (July) I need to request what type of Dialysis's I want ( in home or center). I wonder if "NONE" is a choice? Hummm guess not! Not a great day by any means. Lots to think about and plan for. Feeling overwhelmed!!! Sleep Study tonight. I think its creepy having people watch me sleep but my pulmonologist wont sign off until its done. Grrrrrr. 2014 is not going as plan. In need of a break!!

Take care of yourself! Do what you can do to prepare your body and kidneys for dialysis - we have many articles on kidney health and well-being, before and during dialysis.
Take care!

It does seem like a lot to think about. Don't think about it all at one time. Break it down in smaller steps. I do this then next, and so on. You can do this. It is definitely a tough road that you are walking right now BUT remember....God isn't finished with you yet. Just ask that peanut. emoticon

None is is not a choice. I feel so insignificant, whether to get a payday loan for $100 or to be put on a list for dialysis and transplant. My needs are few and yours are many.

"Almighty God, Father in heaven, watch over Your child now afflicted with serious illness. Mercifully spare the life You have given, relieve her of any pain she may be suffering, guard her from all danger, and restore her health according to your gracious will, that she may be raised to a life of faithful service to You; through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
Blessings to you

Lab Results In

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

LAB RESULTS: A1C Blood Sugar, excellent. Vitamin D, extremely low, could explain why my bones hurt, adding a daily D3 supplement. Cholesterol not so good, adding a statin. :( Will recheck next month. Kidney numbers, on the rise. Not a huge increase however (2.6) so won't know what it means for me if anything until I see the specialist tomorrow. Still I was hoping and praying these would continue to go down. All in all, it could be worse so I will take it for what it is. Kidney Specialist appt and Sleep Study tomorrow!
