Blood work

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

First stick was not so successful this morning but another one and finally the blood suckers got the 4 tubes of blood they needed. Amanda is fast becoming my GO-TO LAB GIRL. So happy today is done, just need to sweat out the results now. Praying for the best!

In other news, finished the grandson's Easter shopping with a trip to Michael's and Target. Little man will be more than HAPPY!! YAY ME! First BIG walking adventure I have done in months. My legs are not happy but I will live... GOD-willing. Just proved how far I still have to improve physically. Not there yet, but... getting there. emoticon

Glad they didn't do you tooo bad Sallie. I have to drink at least 1 bottle of water (16 oz.) before I have blood work done or they usually can't find a vein. I have been stuck as many as 6 times by 3 different techs. They flip coins to see who is the unlucky one to try to find my vein. LOL

Primary Update

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

Got the ALl clear, Kep Up the Good Work from my primary today. Blood pressure 150/82 which is okay, Blood sugar holding steady. He has ordered Full Labs next Tuesday. Liver & Kidney functions, Cholesterol, A1C, Vitamin D and more. FUN! Hell NO!! I hate needles!! Nonetheless it has to be done.

Docs may tweak my BP meds again since my BP has been running high than low for a couple weeks now but will wait until I talk to the kidney doc first.

Still struggling with tiredness but am up and about more these days. No formal exercise yet! Nutrition is good and I m eating better than I was.

All in all a good check up! emoticon The BIG one comes next week with the Kidney Specialist and Blood work results.

Kidney Update

Friday, March 21, 2014

So the kidney doctor is pleased with my current lsb work but nonetheless he is cautiously optimistic. Said to not forget no matter how good my numbers look, I still have Stage 4 kidney disease with a GFR of 21. 15 would mean automatic dialysis! That is not too far off however it appears I can now concentrate more on delaying dialysis for as long as possible and postponing further kidney disease with a continued healthy diet, exercise, BP and Diabetes control, etc. Gee, I thought that was what I was already doing. :
Anyway more talk of positive steps forward and less talk of kidney dialysis and transplant this apt which I will take as a good sign!! :D My BPwas 130/64 today but it was hard to hear. Why? Who knows, but I will take he lower BP any day. :) Next blood work set for April 15th and apt with kidney doc on April 17th! Thanks for the continued prayers and well wishes everyone!! I'm not out of the woods yet, and may never be however I am in a better place than I was 2 months ago.

Baby steps! Now more than ever is the time to focus on health, and fitness... don't push yourself too hard but thankfully things are looking more on the positive side. Cautiously optimistic... I like that. We worry about you Sallie. emoticon

Latest Blood work Results

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

OMG, I could just cry! Tears not from anything bad but from sheer relief. Anyone who knows what I have been going through since January knows how much I sweat out my blood work results these days. I hope for the best but know full well the bottom can fall out from under me any time. Although I wont see the kidney specialist until tomorrow afternoon I know he will be pleased with this week's results. My kidney number is down to a 2.44 which shows my kidney function is still improving little by little. I couldn't ask for anything more at this point. YAHooie!!!!!!! :D On another note my blood pressure was 174/92 today which is down a bit from yesterday but still not near my numbers recorded so far. So I am not sure what that means but I will let the doctors fight over it. I am far too happy today to stress out over anything. I felt so good today I even went for a little walk. Not far but definitely more than I've been doing. Will know more tomorrow as to the kidney but for now I want to say thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. I couldn't have gotten this far without them! If I had just a bit more energy I would do cartwheels!!!!!

Fantastic news Sallie and yes prayers are answered. As much as you hate/dread/fear blood work, that could be why your bp was up some. My sil can go to the hospital/pharmacy/personal blood pressure checkup and it will be fine. He can go to a doctor's office and it is off the charts. He is a truck driver and has his checked for his physical every year and ends up going to the ER to get his bp checked for the paper work. Will continue to pray and send positive vibes your way. emoticon emoticon

Primary Care Update

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

Primary Care Doctor appt went well. Blood Pressure is staying within range. Oxygen level, Temp, and pulse all good. Blood work postponed until next week just prior to me seeing the Kidney Specialist again. NO needles this week. YAHOO!! I can relax sort of, until next Tuesday! Doc says I am doing well considering and all I can for now. Lab results will let us know if what I am doing is good enough. Praying hard that my numbers stay the same or improve more. I know too well what the opposite would mean for me. emoticon

Taking every day as it comes and hoping for the best! Thanks everyone for all of the support. It means so much to me!
