Post meltdown

Life has blessed me with so many wonderful loved ones. Today when I had a bit of a wedding panic attack brought on by a week long headache (which I probably need to go see a dr about again), they calmed me down. Actually I don't think they really know they did just talking with them helped me. That's why moms and dads and fiances are so awesome.

I can't wait for the day to get here whenever it ends up being! Now back to getting skinny! Tomorrow morning I think I might even have a "1" on my scale :))

Now if I could just fall asleep.

Well I couldn't. So an hour later I found another forum for brides and discovered that a "post engagement wedding crash as reality of the cost of wedding and the overwhelming ness of the planning" depression hits. Ar least now I don't feel like I'm losing my mind.

I kinda wish I could though because man this headache is killing me.

    Are you ok? Did you manage to kick that headache? Wedding planning can be really stressful - take a little break, and step back and enjoy it. Just enjoy your fiance and don't worry about event planning!!!!! emoticon

    Try to find soothing activities, something that can relax you. Take deep breaths, try to think blank canvas or anything that makes you just feel sleepy or relax. I do these when I feel too wired up to sleep. You can try talk with others, write on things that depressed you a lot (and make that paper into a ball and throw into a trash can with a victory yell!), perhaps can help you to have less depressed, less stress :D

Good luck and I hope you will have great time preparing for the wedding, you're lucky to have your parents and fiance be with you all the time :D

Before I was engaged, I used to spend so many hours on the Knot browsing pictures and dreaming away. Now that its here, it seems way too overwhelming (and more like work than fun! ). That and I just really want to enjoy this time together with FH before getting pulled into wedding planning. But I'm so eager to be his wife and if we really are getting married in May then we can't waste too much time.

But there are soo many cultural/religious things I have absolutely no idea about. Next weekend I think I'm going to ask his mom to take a walk with me so we can talk about some stuff.

On the weight loss front, I haven't checked yet since this weekend to see how I'm doing, but I got a star everyday for almost a week. I way overate on sat but it was kinda a special occassion. We will see tomorrow if I've made any progress.

Guess what that means?!?

Yup! I just got engaged!

And I have to say ever since then I've been super motivated to get back on track. I'm hoping for May which motivates me even more since I don't have much time to get cracking. I think my goal is to lose 25 pounds before then as its very doable but am really hoping for more. 'Cause you all know what happens after marriage and I want to make sure I'm super healthy for mommyhood when it comes a knocking.

Super excited and can't wait to start our life together.

So I had my LASIK surgery. Originally, it was a goal for reaching 185 but I had to switch it with my 200 goal. I'd already set aside the money in my flexible spending account for this year and didn't want to risk losing it. I was getting very close to the goal so I went ahead and scheduled the surgery. I did reach my goal a week or so before surgery but have since gained a little bit back.

It's been almost 3 weeks since and I have to save I absolutely love it. My face seems kinda "full" to me now that I don't have classes to hide behind but I also haven't been experiement with makeup too much yet as I'm rather afraid it will get in my eyes.

I've not been eating very well for the past two weeks or so, although this week has been better than the last. I was feeling rather yucky and I knew right away what the problem was so I could make changes. Its funny how all the processed foods make you feel. No wonder they thought I had fibromyalgia.

The goods news is that despite the weight going back up a bit, I'm evidently still going down clothing wise. I went shopping this past weekend and found some surprises. I got a Size 12 pair of shorts from Torrid (which to be fair is probably more like a 14 or 16 in normal sizes). But I also got a shirt and skirt from guess in XL juniors and guess is a brand that typically runs rather small.

And now to the exciting news. I'm incredibly nervous but tonight after years of saying I was going to I am taking a belly dance class. I really hope I don't talk myself out of going between now and then as this is the kind of anxiety that effects me the worst - new situations with no backup support. I know that if I work up the courage to go though I will have a blast and get in a great workout.

    Wow, lasik for reward, I wish I have that, must be nice to see the world without relying on an equipment (glasses, contact lens) :D But then, my eyesights not too bad so far so perhaps I will get another type of reward :D

    How exciting for you! I had LASIK in one eye, the other was 20/25 so it was left for close-up sight. I love not wearing glasses. Now 7 years later I need to get it done in my other I so I can really see close -up after turning 50.

Weight loss math

So todays featured sparkblog was about a test you can take to determine your resting metabolic rate (RMR) in oder to figure out how many calories a day your body needs and how many you need to cut back. I was thinking how handy would that be until I realized there are a ton of calculators out there that essentially do the same thing. (I used ) Based on weight and height my RMR is 1,682.

But that's just resting. Add in an activity level factor and you get:

Sedentary (1.2) = 2,018
Light (1.375) = 2,313
Moderate (1.55) = 2,607

So depending on the days activities, to lose 2 pounds a week, I would be able to consume 1018-1607 calories a day (SP has me set to 1200 -1500/day). That's an over 50% reduction in calories some days! No wonder I'm not losing weight, my body thinks I'm starving.

The website also had a calculator where you could determine how many calories you used during a normal days activities. For me on a workout day:

Eating - sitting
70 calories in 30 min
Reading - reclining
93 calories in 01 hr
TV - watching
93 calories in 01 hr
Showering (self care)
62 calories in 20 min
Dressing and Undressing
93 calories in 30 min
Cleaning - multiple household tasks, moderate
163 calories in 30 min
Driving - light vehicle (e.g., car, pick-up)
124 calories in 40 min
Treadmill - level @ 4 mph
186 calories in 30 min
Desk Work (office work)
1,506 calories in 9 hr
586 calories in 7 hr

Totals: 3,036 a day!

Now that's not a full 24 hours and this seems a bit high to me, but considering that I've noticed I do better when I eat higher in my SP range maybe I should make some adjustments to it. Taking out the treadmill for non workout days that gives me a range of about 1900 to 2100.

I'm not sure I'm ready to start eating that many calories a day but I will perhaps move my range up to 1500-1800 a day for a bit and see what happens.

Does this make sense??

    It makes total sense to me! I loved today's SparkBlog because I have been busting my bootie for weeks now with only 5.5 pounds to show for it!!

I will use the site you referenced and figure out what my new calorie range should be. THANKS
