Wow, I'm actually on my way!

Monday, April 07, 2014

I finished the 30 day juice challenge at 13 pounds lighter. I'm feeling great and surprisingly not hungry most days. I am able to walk up to 1 mile and ride a bike for 2 miles. Yeah me! I've started water aerobics also. I'm on my second 30 day juice challenge. Although I was down sick last week and didn't eat the greatest or work out I still managed to lose another 3 pounds. 2 months and 16 pounds lighter!

Are you doing a total juice fast or is it just 1-2 meals a day?

Beginning of a healthy me

Saturday, March 08, 2014

Here I am again. A lot has happened since I last checked in. As the old saying goes, life goes on.... Dad passed away Sept. 23, 2011. We have also been faced with taking care of my father-in-law. He was diagnosed with dementia w/ lewy body. This is a bit more challenging. Enough on the whys I fell back into old habits. This is a new year and a new day. After having a scare back in July and ending up in the hospital for 4 days. My husband and I decided it was time to get serious about our health. We are traveling this new journey together. I've lost 10 lbs since my getting healthy journey started last month. I took the 30 day juice challenge 18 days ago and joined the YMCA so I can get out and walk. I am up to 1/2 mile some days 3/4 mile. I can ride the bike for 5 minutes without too much problems with my knees. Baby steps right... My next plan is to start water aerobics this week, continue with the juice challenge and making healthy choices when I do eat something. I am surprised that I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be. I have also noticed that I do not have to take the 40 mg of Nexium every day. I have been able to get by with 15 mg.

A step at a time :) We didn't gain our weight overnight. The physical activity changes you are making are definitely the road to better health.

After struggling with Alzhmeirs for 10 years, my dad lost his battle Sept. 23 2011. Wow , It doesn't seem like a year has passed. This disease is a horrible way of life. It takes all of your energy to stay focused and help care for your loved one.
Mom passed Nov 4, 2008, just 3 days after their 54th wedding anniversary. They are both together again.

Just when I thought things could start to get a little back to normal, we found out my father-in-law had dementia with Lewy Body. So now we start again. You would think it would get easier, but it doesn't. Watching another person you care and love disappear before your eyes.

My Poor Veda

Thursday, March 17, 2011

I lost my precious Veda. She has been a good companion since the day she was born and I brought her into my home at 6 weeks. She lived to be 13 years old with no sign of any health problems. She just woke up in the middle of the night crying and having a seizure of some type. I was afraid to leave her home alone, so i took her with me to my daughters house while I watched my grand daughter. I was able to get her into the vet right away. Dr. Katie gave us some medicine to try, but it did not seem to help. My poor baby would still have siezures, which by the way she would cry, must have been painful. After two days, we decided the medicine was not helping and had Dr.Katie give her something to help her go to sleep. It was a hard decision to make, but I'm sure she is having the best time in doggy heaven now.

My Ataya went about the same way 2 years ago. She had just turned 15, but had been having problems for a while. She and my other long gone dogs are probably welcoming Veda for a heavenly romp now!

emoticonI know how you feel. My 19 1/2 y.o. cat died about 2 weeks ago. I'm still trying to hear her meowing and walking around. My lap isn't quite empty as I have 2 other cats, but she was my first and so holds a special spot in my heart. emoticon

March 17

Well, here I am again, trying to get myself motivated and on the band wagon. It's so easy to slide off. I am really frustrated with myself. I know i need to loss this weight and get healthy. I guess I need that extra push to keep me motivated. I am going to try this again with the help of God and my spark friends. I made the first step and bought the book Crave and listened to the first 6 week webcast. I now need someone to help keep me on track, be acountable for my actions and motivated.
