I made it to 37. Today is my birthday. I've been telling people all year that I was 37 and one day thought, no I'm not! I guess I was just looking forward to it for some reason! LOL.

Today, I'm going out to eat with dh and Jake. I had an egg omelet bagel this morning which I never eat anymore (special birthday treat for myself). Lunch will be the usual Healthy Choice meal and dinner will probably be something healthy but dessert... ; )

Tomorrow I go hiking with Molly, then my sisters and I are doing my b-day lunch and movie. (I get to pick whatever movie I want and no one else can complain since they get to do the same on their birthday. I.e. Last year I chose a kid film and my sister hates kid films but she saw it anyway. She admitted later she actually liked it. She also threatened to choose a sappy movie for her birthday to get me back but we always celebrate her and my brother's birthday together. I know he wouldn't go for a sappy one so she never gets her revenge!)

Sunday will be a Broncos party at my sister's house. DH will be flying to Florida at that time for work so it will be just Jake and I the rest of the week.

Reading the book A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. What a hoot! I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good laugh. Well better get back to the grind!

Golden Gate Canyon

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Last Saturday, I hiked the horseshoe trail in Golden Gate Canyon with Jake and dh. Jake walked most of it and threw an absolute fit when we wanted him to hold our hand to help him over the huge rocks! He also threw a fit when we tried to put him back in the backpack on the way down. I think we have a little hiker on our hands. He enjoyed mushing the ants he saw calling them "nasty bugs." Must have gotten that from daycare. He at first tried picking up all the bugs which I quickly deterred him from doing. The views on the way up to the hike were beautiful. The aspen were changing colors and it just looked like a picture. Of course, I forgot my camera!

He had to step on every rock on the trail. It was slow going but we actually got quite far. I think it took us 2 hours to hike 1.5 miles. =)

The next day we went to the zoo while dad went fishing. He loved the zoo. Especially the train. He also really liked the elephants. He said as we were leaving, "bye bye elephants. I love you elephants!" LOL

I did it!

I met my 2nd goal weight to weigh 128 pounds. Woo-hoo! Didn't think I'd ever get here. Now the scary part, maintaining.

Didn't get to go hiking this weekend. Had fun with Jake and dh at the Thomas the Train event. Jake was entranced by the model trains. We had to tear him away to get to our next appointment on time.

I met my sisters for lunch at a healthy restaurant called Blue Sky Cafe. The food was yummy. I had the Mediterranean chicken salad. I'm such a sucker for Greek salads. After lunch we went and saw Good Luck Chuck. Funny in some parts mostly stupid. Oh well. Can't win them all.

I'm on a new challenge for myself. No after dinner snacking for a month. Very tough. That's my biggest downfall.

Whoo hoo!! Congrats on meeting your goal! When I started to maintain, it was a little scary for me too. I haven't been maintaining that long (3 months? 4?) but once you get over that initial feeling, you will be fine. You've saved up all these good habits, now it's just putting them into practice daily. BTW, you are lucky that you get to go hiking a lot. And thanks for the review on Good Luck Chuck, now I won't have to see it LOL!

Castlewood Canyon

Sunday, September 16, 2007

Met another Sparker to hike Castlewood Canyon just outside of Castlerock, Colorado. What a beautiful hike. I must admit I thought it would be all plains hiking due to it being so far from the mountains but it was a pleasant surprise. We hiked down along the canyon floor to the dam ruins and looped back around to the visitor's center. It was gorgeous. Molly loved it too. She finally won over and yanked the leash out of my hand and dove straight into the creek. Silly dog.

Today was weigh in day and am down .8. Probably would have been more if I hadn't eaten a bag of dark chocolate moose munch. That evening snacking puts me under every time. Oh well! Today is a new day.

No more hot dogs!

Monday, September 10, 2007

I took Jake to the zoo yesterday and regretted the hotdog last night and today. Talk about sick! I can't look at food without feeling yucky. I'm so tired today too. I should have stayed home from work but thought I could do it.

Molly and I did a fun hike on Saturday. We hiked Rattlesnake gulch in Eldorado Canyon. It was pretty....and challenging. I stopped 2-3 times to catch my breath and get my heart back into my chest. But it was worth the climb. I love climbing to spots where historical ruins lay. Also, a well used train track was on another mountain and saw a couple trains go by. Jake would have loved that! It was a pretty day. I started the hike about 9a. No one was there except the rock climbers but once I headed down the trail really picked up with hikers. Molly loved it too.
