Mix It Up Challenge

We are doing a challenge at work here you have to get in about 9 servings max of fruits and veggies. Sadly I'm the one lagging on my team but I'm not the one groaning about being sick of fruits and veggies either. I'm holding steady. You get double points for super foods like Kale, strawberries, spinach, blueberries, etc. the rest of my team is eating all super veggies. I'm mixing it up more. Everyone else's kids are grown so getting a 7 year old plus my veggie hater hubby to buy in has been tough. But we are eating more so that is good! We are 4 weeks in and it is an 8 week program. Half way there. There are about 50 teams doing it and we are #4. Munch munch munch...

    If you've upped the fruits and veggies your family is eating, that's a win-win situation regaardless of what the rest of your team is doing. Sounds like your changes are actually sustainable, too, which is what really matters over the long run!

Back from vacation!

Did ok on eating. Not so good on exercising. I was a bit of a slug. But it is good to slow down once in a great while. Hubby was sick all week and now son is coming down with it. I've been popping the vitamins and drinking lots of water so hopefully I don't get it.

Pinewood derby tonight! Got son to finish his project on Benjamin Franklin. He wanted to create a game. Wow. What a lot of work! But it's cute. The board is a kite. The cards give a fact and based on the fact the player moves forward or back. Son had a great time with that part. We also added a little fiction in there. Like "you were struck by lightning while inventing the lightning rod, go back 3 spaces." Haha. I'm sure he wasn't but it makes it fun.

    It's hard to go on vacation and eat and exercise like you do at home. In fact, I think it's impossible. So, congrats on eating "OK" because that is an accomplishment!
Pinewood Derby! I miss those old Scouting days. Enjoy them!

Due to the blizzard I am now scheduled to fly out at 5a Sunday. Ouch. With the time change. Double ouch. I'll be napping alot today! :)

I'm down a pound which is surprising given I ate out the last two nights but I'll take it! Exercise for today: Shoveling snow. :)

WEll I guess twice a week blogging is better than none! Tomorrow I fly out to Austin, maybe. I got a text message from Frontier cancelling my flight due to an impending blizzard. I got my flight rescheduled with US Air. Unfortunately not a direct flight. I got to Phoenix wait 3 hours and then on to Austin. But, with the snow conditions, the 3 hour wait may actually end up being only an hour and a half. I have the worst luck with flights. Which is why I tried to get a direct flight this time. It always seems to be a blizzard in Denver when I have to fly out! The way home is always perfect but heading out there is always a hiccup. Oh well. Its an adventure!

I ended up eating out twice this week. Oh well. I didn't make it to the gym today trying to get everything done before I head out of town. I am taking exercise clothes with me though on my trip. My boss is gungho to get exercise in so hopefully she'll hold me to my end! :)

Healthy Habits

Trying to get back to blogging for the team challenge this week. So far since Saturday my goals are: avoid eating out and exercise almost every day. I took Sunday off as I hurt my knee the day before. It still is a little sore but easing back into it.

I head to Austin this Saturday for a work conference. Hopefully it is warm there. Not looking forward to the time change there as it is an hour ahead of where I live. Ouch. Sunday is going to be harsh. But by the time I get home I'll be able to sleep in an hour! :)

Son won his hockey game Saturday. He was so elated! They were the def underdogs with only 6 kids on the team compared to the other teams 9 players. He scored two goals.
