Maintain Don't Gain Challenge

Monday, November 12, 2012

Well, it turns out today was weigh in day. Of course I had on an Irish sweater. Oh well. Didn't stop me from stripping off the layers. haha Now I have to remember at the end of the 8 weeks to do the same. :)

I slept so well last night. I was tired and draggy all day yesterday so today I'm a little more with it. I'm sure my coworkers appreciate it! Nice sunny day but cold. Taking the bus forces me to walk more so my plan is to keep it up all week if I can. Thursday I have to drive since I pick up my son from school but otherwise I should be able to pull it off all week.

Happy Monday!

Fit Bit

Sunday, November 11, 2012

I got my new fit bit zip in the mail on Monday. I'm obsessed! I love how it auto posts everything. It also has made me realize just how little exercise I do on weekends. I need to start walking the dog for 30 minutes each weekend. My new goal. I'm sure she'd appreciate it too.

The snow/cold has finally hit Colorado. Brrrr. This Friday starts the Maintain don't Gain Challenge at work for the holidays. 6 of us have joined and call ourselves the Santa Betties. We have to weigh in on Friday. The goal is to either maintain or lose. Should be fun. I'm in a gungho group this time. They'll push me for sure. ;P Tried a yummy cooking light recipe today. Grilled ham and swiss cheese with apples sandwich. Honey dijon mustard included. Very tasty. I think my son would like it too which is a score for sure. Just one week and then its vacation! yay!

It's always surprising when the tools we use tell us something different than what we expected whether it is the FitBit or the nutrition tracker! Good for you for figuring out what changes to make with the new information at your fingertips!

Weekends are harder for me to get in fitness minutes too. You'd think it would be the other way around. emoticon

Great destresser!

Monday, October 29, 2012

I got home in a cranky tired mood tonight. Saw the huge pumpkin on the dining room table son and I got a week ago and thought, great. Hubby threw his back out so that left me. Son has been after me about it so we got started. It was easier than I thought it would be. By the time we finished the stress of the day was gone! Great arm work out.

Still thriving...

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Exercise was a little less this week due to long work hours. Food suffered as well. (Too tired). This week I hope to stick to my menu plans. Working on finding quick meals 30 min or less. Kid activities tend to get in the way. Perhaps crock pot meals that are ready when I get home or precooked meals that just need microwaving. The battle continues.

Took son trick or treating at the mall today. We were there walking around for 4 hours. Course it was slow walking and threw in some badly needed clothes shopping for him. Took the dog for a walk when we got home for about 30 min. Working on getting my exercise in.

This is always the struggle - how do I find time for nutrition and exercise when I'm using all my energy on work and family? It's good that you're thinking of options like quick meals and walking the dog. EVERY small step counts, and even things like taking your son trick-or-treating can help you achieve your goals of spending time with family while getting a little exercise!

I know what you mean - my job is getting in my way. I have to travel 2 days a week now, so that makes for 12 hour days. I have been trying to cook on the weekends (when we are home) and then we have left overs through the week. And I use my crock pot a lot!!!! Hubby doesn't mind it and our kids aren't at home anymore so that makes it easy. But the exercise is what I am missing. Just not enough time. And you have a little one you are chasing around too - really not enough time. emoticon

Have a great week!

You actually got a lot of exercise in without even trying. Just taking a child around can be quite a workout!!! How about picking a day to cook and then freezing a few meals. This way when you are really busy and stressed you still have something that will not mess up your calories.

Thriving and traveling

Friday, October 12, 2012

Still doing the work challenge. I think I've skipped one workout day so far. I'm doing the 5% fall challenge as well with team Casual Travellers. Just need to up my water intake. So bad about that. Also need to make time to hit the grocery store so I eat out less.

Work has been very stressful the last couple of weeks. My boss left and there's no interim director so it's falling on the 3 remaining managers to pick up the slack. I got the reporting side of the bargain. Of course it is a super busy time on top of it all. Sigh. Deep breath. Ohmmmmmmm. ;)

Being busy is the best thing!! Exercise makes it much easier to avoid stress! Drinking water is hard sometime I agree, but I get those little packets of flavoring and find that it makes much easier to get what you need.

Getting in your exercise and a time when things are so stressful at work can be a challenge - good for you for hanging in there and making it happen!

You are on a streak with all the stress happening around you - you managed to only skip one workout now that is dedication So glad you are traveling the 5% challenge with the casual travelers

Glad to hear though your busy and stressed your still making great steps. I read recently about how this one girl would put eight large rubber bands or those plastic bracelets on each day and would remove one for each glass of water she drank. I thought that was a,super tip!
