Self's Drop 10 Challenge

It's that time of year again, where I attempt the Self Challenge. This year they have totally revamped the program and in 5 weeks the goal is to lose 10 pounds. I don't think I'll lose 10 pounds that quickly but I'm going to try and stick to my guns and make it through the 5 weeks. I'm tracking here as there tracking pages are cumbersome and slow. But I do intend to follow their interval stuff/toning. I did the toning one last week. My son started off with me but bailed after the 3rd one. The first one was tough! I felt it in my legs two days later. Obviously don't work those muscles much!

Went to a Zumba class for the first time last Friday. Really enjoyed it! Reminded me alot of Jazzercise with alot more hip movement and faster. My sister and niece liked it too so they are comitted to going once a week with me. Plus the price is right. $2 per class!

KBECKNER6: Perhaps we can keep each other going! As far as the toning and recording it in spark, I look for exercises that are close to what is listed on the Self page and record that as what I did. For example the lunge pushup one, I just use the pushups as what I'm doing. Or if I can't find something similar, I just pick an exercise that targets the same area and record it as that. As far as the intervals are concerned, I look at what the elliptical machine says I burned in the time allotted and adjust the spark time until it equals the total calories that the machine said I burned. :)

As for the recipes, so far, the boys were good with the oatmeal meatball minestrone, The Seared steak with Asian barbecue. They hated the creamy lemon shrimp ( I liked it). My son hates anything to do with lemons and hubby hates broccoli. *sigh*

  I started the Self Challenge too!! Yesterday, I got geared up with the eating regimen and today began the workout. I feel great!! Today I took my daughter to a bday party and only gave in to one small bite of cupcake and this evening we were at a play date where I knew there would be pizza and I totally stayed strong because along with me I brought the Amy's organic lentil vegetable soup, a cup of spinach; cooked it up and feel great!! They really have done a great job this year, I usually can't stick with them because in the past they have just seemed unrealistic or maybe this year my frame of mind has changed. Which ever it is I am glad:) How do you log the toning workouts on here? I too, agree that Self's website and logging is not user friendly and very slow and I seem to go in circles on it and don't really get anywhere. So am going to use Spark as well:) Best of luck to you!! emoticon

Weekends Challenging

Well, I doggedly entered everything I ate this weekend and surprisingly had only one bad day. I thought for sure the ice cream I had eaten would blow Sunday out of the water but luckily it didn't. Yay!

Last night I stayed up WAY too late finishing a book I was hooked on. I'm reading the Confessions of a Shopaholic Series. Nice light read. Easy to read when working out too.

This week I continue to track and my goal is to get all my water in. I've been slacking on that one.

    I find weekends to be harder as well. The meal plan is always much more loose than the rest of the week.

I'll have to look into your book series. Always looking for a fun read!

  I find water to be the hardest goal I have!! It's surprising how much water 8 cups is. Yay for books! That's always a good excuse for slipping up on sleep. :)

Reilly-1, Us-0

Sleep is going well...

Next problem...weekends!!

I need to get back on track as far as writing down food. I'm now starting the Reilly exercise plan. Reilly is my sister's wild labrador and she will be staying with us for a month while my sister heals from surgery. So far, it is Reilly-1, Us-0. Reilly decided to spread our garbage all over the house late last night. Sigh. She has stayed with us once before. She must go for a walk every day or else she gets too wound up and trashes the house. Plus the whine gets obnoxious. Walking her is a challenge too because she pulls so darn hard. I put the choker on her and she is instantly a better dog. I just have to find it! She and the cat are battling every chance they get too. Reilly thinks Sebastian is a toy and Sebastian is trying to establish that he is king of the house. The cat won't back down and neither will Reilly. Good times.

My goal for this week is write EVERYTHING down on my food schedule and work out at least 30 min a day.

    Our lab is great, but you can really tell when he hasn't had his walk. He behaves when DH (also known as "alpha dog") walks him but he's pretty sure he outranks me in the pack hierarchy.

Sleep Week 4: Day 1

To bed: 10:30p
Fell asleep: @11:00p
Woke up: 6:30a

Energy level: Good

Last ate before bed at 4:00p. We went to the symphony and had to get there early so that meant an early dinner. Didn't get hungry though. Thirsty more. Had some water when I got home. Felt better.

Worked out yesterday and today at noon.

  


Day 2 and Day 3 of Sleep Challenge

Day 2: Stopped eating at 7:30p and went to bed about 10:45p. Restless night. I had a dental appointment in the morning I was very worried about. Amazingly enough I was still suprisingly alert all day.

Day 3: Stopped eating at 7:00p and went to bed about 11p. Snuck back into old habits again. I was on the computer until I went to bed playing Zoo Tycoon. Very addicting game. Needless to say, despite a full night's rest, I'm a little tired today. I woke up very hungry too. All day I've been off as far as hunger. Usually I eat a snack at 10:00 am and 3:00p. Today I'm hungry earlier. Grrrr I was starving through excercise class as I had eaten my snack a little earlier than usual and didn't have backups with me. Didn't want to eat my 3p snack cuz I'd be up a creek at 3.
