1/2 hour

1-4:45a-couldn't go back to sleep so I laid there until 6a then got up.

3.In total, how many hours did you sleep last night?
about 5.75 hours

Notes:
I am very anxious lately. I decided to send an e-mail with the details about the cub scout events instead of talking in front of everyone. I woke at 4:45a and just replayed the events in my mind admonishing myself for not getting up and talking to everyone. I also was irritable at the scouting night because the way it is run is so disorganized and the cub master is so hands off it just makes it hard to step up and lead. I need to take the classes through Scouts of America and maybe I'll have a better idea.

Still stressing about xmas cards. Got one from a friend in Ireland already. I'm such a slacker.

I need to make banana bread for son's Xmas party tomorrow at school. The school is trying to improve the healthy eating of the kids, so the classroom parties are stressing healthier party items. I figured banana bread was a nice balance between sugar and not. Others are bringing cheese and crackers, vegetable platters, etc. The first try of this was at Halloween. I asked my son how it went and he went for all the sugary dessert options and non of the health food options. lol I knew that would happen. This time they are trying for a meal approach rather than appetizers/desserts. I'm sure there will be parents that still bring what they are discouraged from bringing. But I will be there this time so I can reign my kiddo in. I guess what they should do is as the kids come through the line, put one of each item on their plate encouraging them to try stuff. You can lead a horse to water...

Oh well. At least birthdays are slightly healthier. There are the parents who are gungho for the healthy option and then the others will do as they want. I'm sure the teachers appreciate it though, can you imagine every couple weeks of cake/cupcakes/etc??

I still have this darn cold/cough from Thanksgiving. I'm sure my lack of rest is causing it to hang on. Hopefully when I get my week off for the holidays, I'll be able to relax more and get better sleep. Hopefully.

One more thing I forgot to mention. I slep in a hoody so I also woke up too hot which didn't help. I didn't want to get up and change as it is cold at night!

Do you work out in the mornings? I used to have the sleep issues that you seem like you might have (taking a long time to fall asleep, waking up several times at night - sometimes for hours). Once I started working out early in the morning, they all went away. It seemed miracle-like to me (if I believed in such things). It really made a differnece.

3.In total, how many hours did you sleep last night?
6.5 hours

Notes:
I need to cut off the electronic devices (ipad/computer) before 6p. I notice if I'm not on the ipad until bedtime, I sleep better. So last night I cut it off at 8:30p, but then after my bath hubby called me in to look at the computer! Gah! I need to just tell him to show me tomorrow. I did however resist the urge to remain on the computer. So that's kind of better. I'm on the computer all day long at work so my brain needs a break. Perhaps I'll get back to work on my knitting/quilting/cross stitch UFOs. Doesn't require computers for that.

Sleep Challenge

Monday, December 12, 2011

Well I joined the sleep challenge. I have a hard time getting to bed on time so I wake up exhausted with low energy. So, I'm giving this a shot. I need to keep a sleep journal so here's where I'll do it.

Hubby, I suspect, suffers from sleep apnea. He snores really loud and wakes up frequently during the night. He will go to bed about 9p and can easily sleep until 9a and still need to take a nap mid day. His parents were just diagnosed with it so I suspect it runs in the family. My family has problems with it too so it might be worth looking into.

Vacation

Monday, November 28, 2011

On a whim, hubby and I decided to go to Carlsbad, NM last week. I've always wanted to see Carlsbad Caverns so we hopped in the car and went. Wow. So awesome. It was everything I expected and so much more. Definitely worth the trip. We decided to hike the 1.5 miles down to the cave itself rather than taking the elevator. The path was well made, but steep. Handrails were available just in case. Our 6 year old hiked it with us. We couldn't stop ooing and ahhing the whole way down. We had sandwiches in the cave restaurant at the bottom then went for a walk around the Grand Room (@ 600,000 square feet). I felt like we were in Disney or something because it felt so surreal. Hubby had a problem with vertigo near the bottomless pit. He walked quickly past it staying as far away from it as possible. The whole place is just so cool. We didn't get to see the bats come flying out as they only do that between March and October.

We visited Petroglyph National Park on the way back as well. Jake got his Junior Ranger badge he wore proudly the whole way home! It was a nice relaxing trip.

Sounds like a good time. Great choice of walking down the trail. We visited the Petroglyph National Park a few years ago. Our kids also enjoyed their badges. emoticon
