Do you work out in the mornings? I used to have the sleep issues that you seem like you might have (taking a long time to fall asleep, waking up several times at night - sometimes for hours). Once I started working out early in the morning, they all went away. It seemed miracle-like to me (if I believed in such things). It really made a differnece.

Notes:
I need to cut off the electronic devices (ipad/computer) before 6p. I notice if I'm not on the ipad until bedtime, I sleep better. So last night I cut it off at 8:30p, but then after my bath hubby called me in to look at the computer! Gah! I need to just tell him to show me tomorrow. I did however resist the urge to remain on the computer. So that's kind of better. I'm on the computer all day long at work so my brain needs a break. Perhaps I'll get back to work on my knitting/quilting/cross stitch UFOs. Doesn't require computers for that.

Sleep Challenge

Monday, December 12, 2011

Well I joined the sleep challenge. I have a hard time getting to bed on time so I wake up exhausted with low energy. So, I'm giving this a shot. I need to keep a sleep journal so here's where I'll do it.

Hubby, I suspect, suffers from sleep apnea. He snores really loud and wakes up frequently during the night. He will go to bed about 9p and can easily sleep until 9a and still need to take a nap mid day. His parents were just diagnosed with it so I suspect it runs in the family. My family has problems with it too so it might be worth looking into.

Vacation

Monday, November 28, 2011

On a whim, hubby and I decided to go to Carlsbad, NM last week. I've always wanted to see Carlsbad Caverns so we hopped in the car and went. Wow. So awesome. It was everything I expected and so much more. Definitely worth the trip. We decided to hike the 1.5 miles down to the cave itself rather than taking the elevator. The path was well made, but steep. Handrails were available just in case. Our 6 year old hiked it with us. We couldn't stop ooing and ahhing the whole way down. We had sandwiches in the cave restaurant at the bottom then went for a walk around the Grand Room (@ 600,000 square feet). I felt like we were in Disney or something because it felt so surreal. Hubby had a problem with vertigo near the bottomless pit. He walked quickly past it staying as far away from it as possible. The whole place is just so cool. We didn't get to see the bats come flying out as they only do that between March and October.

We visited Petroglyph National Park on the way back as well. Jake got his Junior Ranger badge he wore proudly the whole way home! It was a nice relaxing trip.

Sounds like a good time. Great choice of walking down the trail. We visited the Petroglyph National Park a few years ago. Our kids also enjoyed their badges. emoticon

Whew

Monday, November 14, 2011

Crazy weekend. Basketball game Friday, Basketball game (kids) Saturday morning, Big Horn Sheep festival Saturday afternoon, DU Hockey game Saturday night, Sunday morning church, kids choir practice, football, raking leaves, cleaning house, pass out.

Worked out today. Took a class that I haven't done in eons. Needed a ride back to the office due to arms and legs feeling like spaghetti noodles after the class. Yikes. (I did walk back but it sure was a slow one!)

Wow am I out of shape. Haven't done weights in a long time and it sure showed. Oh well. Mix it up.

My sister's double masectomy went well. She is cancer free in her lymph nodes. They feel they got all the cancer but she has yet to find out whether she still has to do chemo or not. She skipped the part where they insert a little box in her chest that releases medication for a year. She has some heart issues and a side effect of that drug is heart problems. hmmm So we'll see what they make her do instead. Perhaps they'll just have her start immediately on the taxminofen. She is now able to drive and has been walking daily so recovery has been good. She did get a rash from one of the medications so she will see the doctor about that.

Otherwise she is doing well. Still can't lift anything above 5 pounds. Very happy about her results.

I feel a sisters day out coming on...
