Loved Montana

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Back from Montana. Beautiful state. Hubby got sick and was down and out the entire vacation. I was fighting what he had. I just kept popping Advil and hitting the trail whenever I could. Got in trouble for doing that from hubby but oh well. It was my first real vacation and I wasn't going to let anything stop me from enjoying it. I got in a 6 mile hike to Lava Lake, and 2 1.7 mile hikes to Ouzel Falls. Even got in a geocache hunt!

My niece looked beautiful for her wedding. Everything went well for her and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My sister is glad it is done! Back on eating healthy. During the stay we did hit the grocery store to minimize eating out. So that was good at least.

On the way home I left my wallet in Burger King in Wyoming. Didn't realize it until I got home. DOH. My sister and her son luckily were about an hour away from the Burger King on the way home when I called them. They picked it up for me. What a week!

This weekend I have a kid's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Oh boy. Let the pandomonium ensue. lol

Glad you were able to get the wallet! I am also facing Chukcie cheese at the end of the month, my youngest turns 5.

Sounds like a fun vacation. A beautiful Montana wedding and hiking to boot! Sorry your hubby was sick, but at least you were able to ward it off. And leaving your wallet at Burger King - you're lucky you ever saw it again! Thank goodness your sister was near.

AND you got in a geocache!! We were on vacation last week and I had printed off a few caches before we left, but then forgot them at home - darn it, I was really looking forward to them too.

Good luck with Chuck E Cheese - that's always pandemonium but the kids LOVE it! have fun.

Nike Fit Club

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Downloaded the Nike Fit Club app to my ipod and ipad. Tried the beginner level on Tues and Wed. Oh my. I am sore. Today I'm doing yoga to stretch it all out.

My sister is dropping off her wilder than Marley labrador for me to watch this weekend. Definitely will be doing lots of hiking for exercise and to wear the pup out! Hopefully Molly will be able to keep up. I'm afraid the cat will take up permanent residence in the basement during the visit.

I am so looking forward to the 3 day weekend though. DH and son are heading to Indiana Friday so 2 weeks of keeping myself on track. Hmmm maybe the house will actually stay clean!

Good New and Bad News

Friday, June 03, 2011

The bad news is I gained 2 pounds so need to watch portion control.

The good news is I finally got my ipad 2. Love it. Especially when working out. No more fighting books/magazines on the treadmill/elliptical. Plus I can see workout demos easier than on my touch which is usually strapped to my arm! Also like having it handy for recipes.

This weekend I have a kid's birthday party to go to. Jake will probably be the only boy there as it is a girl's bday party. But he doesn't care. It is his best friend in kindergarten's bday.

Next week is going to be nuts. Jake is in pass camp (kids sports camp) all week. His swim lessons start Mon/Wed nights and Thurs he has soccer practice with the game being on Saturday. He's going to be an absolute cranker that week. I've been warned to bring food when I pick him up from camp as they are ravenous and tired.

Fly Baby

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Starting again with the fly lady's plan to getting organized. Our house is overwhelmed with clutter and I just want to walk in and feel good about our house again.

I figure if I can get the house looking nice again, I'll start to feel better about sticking with my plans! Hubby doesn't do anything despite the fact he is unemployed and at home all the time. Laundry takes a week for him whereas I can do it in a day. I asked him to clean while we were gone over the weekend and the only thing he did was hang 4 shelves in the basement. Grrrr. Did laundry but I have yet to see it as it is still sitting in the dryer. I did create a chore chart which he absolutely bucked. Son loved it though so maybe I'll get him going on the fly lady for kids part.

I too am trying to FLY. My house is in such disarray.

I did have a yard sale last weekend and sold lots of stuff. Then I took 6 bags and several boxes of stuff to Goodwill. In fact, I have two more boxes in my jeep today to drop off.

You would think that would make a ton of difference but a lot of it was clothes. My closet looks pretty good but everything else needs some serious help.

My daughter, SIL, and two grandkids live with me and about 85% of the mess and clutter is theirs. I wish they would at least pick up after themselves. I could handle the rest of it. I get tired of asking for their help and I hate having to be angry about it all of the time. Oh well, I will miss them once they all move out.

Good luck and maybe once your hubby see the difference that is being made he will pitch in.

Memorial Day Weekend

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Had a blast at the work/play camp this weekend. Cleaned 2 1/2 cabins to help prepare for the summer onslaught. Jake even helped out. Sunday was play day. I couldn't get him to hike but luckily our track to our cabin was very steep so got lots of exercise in going back and forth to the lodge or other activities. Meals were provided by the camp and were fairly healthy all food groups represented. I resisted the urge to go back for seconds as it was soo darn good. We went up Pikes Peak cog railway but didn't make it to the top due to the 100 mph winds. But it was fun none the less. Met a nice family from Alabama. The dad looked just like John Goodman. Ha. They were good sports as Jake inserted himself in their picture with the train. They wanted him to be in a picture with their daughter as well. Too funny. Only on the way back down did Jake get bored. Luckily they were selling dvds of the train and a book. The book kept him preoccupied. Jake is very much so addicted to anything trains so the dvd will get well used. It was a good weekend for the two of us. For Greg, not so much. Everything on his boat seemed to break. He was ready to sell his boat by the end of the weekend. Should of come with us instead!
