This is my first feeble attempt at blogging. I'm going through a time of questioning now. I'd reached my maximum weight in 2008 and started dieting, off and on, that winter after being turned down for health reasons for a lap band (was in the hospital, waiting, when they told me). Anyway, I lost 98 lbs over two years doing it my way. Because I still had health problems aggravated by the weight, I learned about Sparkpeople and joined. The support has been great, even though I haven't used it nearly as much as I should. Then, in June, I went back and had the lap band done. Dropped another 14 lbs in the 3 weeks afterwards, then actually gained 1 lb over the next 3. They told me it was a gain of water weight because I'd been dehydrated. Well, I've made the lifestyle changes (can't just diet, has to be permanent) and started tracking every bite on Sparkpeople (which has been enlightening!) but don't feel as though I've lost more (next med followup is in 3 weeks). So, I'm wondering whether the surgery was worth it or if I could have done the next 75 lbs the old way. Questions never cease, do they?
