Take that!..

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

DogStarDaddy had a valid point in his comment on my last blog. He said:
"You women!! If I put a picture of a hot, mostly naked girl on my page, you'd be beating me up! :)"

And I think he's right, for the most part. I was quick to dart over to his Spark page though and proclaim my differences!
"Hey! I appreciate a finely curved, hot, mostly nekkid woman as much as the next person! I'm an equal-opportunity ogler from way back!"

True dat. For instance, I have a HUGE girl crush on Monica Belluci:

No matter how clothed or unclothed she is.

The first time I saw Monica, in The Matrix Reloaded, I about fell out of my seat. Those lips, those curves. I have neither (really, I lack an upper lip, always have.. and my curves are in different places from hers LOL) but wish I did.

Anyway, there - equal time, equal opportunity ogling for DSD and me!

(you're out of luck if you prefer blondes.. I don't think I have any blonde girl crushes going on. Well, aside from Starbuck!)

Ok, so I was way under on calories yesterday, but it was mostly unintentional. I have a bad mouth - that is to say, aside from sometimes being a potty mouth, I have not taken care of my mouth/teeth. To that end, I had a left lower molar ~killing~ me yesterday and had Bill schedule me a late appointment with our dentist, who was great to get me in - thank goodness for late office hour days.

I knew I wouldn't feel up to doing anything the appointment, so I zipped home, threw on running clothes, and hit the road.

What? It was my Last Chance Workout (LCW), you can't possibly think I'd miss that!

My legs have been sore from Sunday's battles, and extra walking and such, so I ran the first mile and a half, and then tried running up my big hill. My right knee said "NOPE!" and I listened. I walked the rest of the way with a few running intervals here and there, but was ok with that. I finished up with 2.9 miles (I didn't have my phone out so didn't realize I was so close to 3 mi), cleaned up, had dinner, then went to the dentist.

He had to pull it.
emoticon
Yes, my left cheek is all puffy like that now LOL maybe not quite that bad, but it is chippier than usual. He was very gentle with me - I was traumatized as a kid at the dentist, which is why my mouth went to h*ll because I didn't want to be tortured anymore.

So the pain is gone, the tooth is gone, I'm feeling pretty good and able to eat well enough on my right side until the left side heals.
emoticon

I have orders to take it easy for the next day or two, which I'll follow. We're meeting family for grand daughter's birthday this evening at Newport Seafood Grill, so I've already picked out/planned for the Seafood Cobb Salad.
emoticon
We won't get our kennel kid walking in this evening though, so I'm sure I'll miss that calorie burn. I'll take it easy with just a walk on Thursday instead of a run, and it's all good.

For the record I didn't find myself hungry at all even though yesterday was such a low calorie consumption day. That's great! May it continue that way.

So, with tomorrow being the last day of the month, I'm looking back and smiling.

That shows my weight loss from January 1 to today. The yellow line is the Spark line, for losing 1 lb per week. The blue twerpy line is my actual losses.

I've gone from 252 on Jan. 2 to 243 today.
emoticon emoticon emoticon
You can see my TOM week where the lbs shot back up, but they're gone again now. I didn't give up, I didn't stray (much) from my plan, either food- or fitness-wise.
I succeeded. I triumphed over fat this month.
emoticon

We need new emoticons - something that says "Fabulous!" and "H*ll Yeah!" and "You Rock!"
LOL

I'm happy. I'm healthy. I'm keepin' on.

    Wow.. You are an inspiration!

I don't even want to look at my graph...(sigh)...its not pretty.

On the other hand, I went from (on the bench press machine) doing 35 lbs, to last night doing 50. So that is progress, right?
I think I'm going to try and take my measurements tonight.

Love the equal opportunity ogling...she IS beautiful.

Glad you got the tooth taken care of. I get the childhood trauma...was just lucky that my second dentist was a very close family friend "uncle" who was quick and painless. I have had more work done on my mouth than many people (root canals, bridge work, capping, extractions, etc.). Wishing your mouth a very quick healing period!

So yea. This is day one of my Paleo meal plan. I was a bit dubious about whether or not this would be enough food for me, and brought an extra banana, just in case, but I did not need it. I was nicely full without being stuffed after each meal.

The Cinnamon Apple Omelet was surprisingly tasty. I shared the recipe with a few folks and hope they tweak it and enjoy it!
The Egg Salad was supposed to be a Citrus Beef dish, but I didn't make the beef dish in time for lunch, so swapped in the Egg Salad real quick. It was very yummy, and while it was supposed to be wrapped in lettuce leafs, I ate it with zucchini sticks instead.
The Spaghetti was a delicious meaty tomato sauce over spaghetti squash. Mmmmmm!

Kids, I was satisfied, well fed, my mouth and tummy were happy, and it was mostly clean food except for the mayo. I have to learn to make my own mayo! And the chocolate, but I'll address that in another blog soon.

I had a great walk, in the rain, both at lunch at work, and once I got home after. I realized you don't have to just RUN in the rain to feel like a bad*ss, walking does it, too!
emoticon

I just felt so good, doing the right things for my body and making sure I moved and got my steps and fitness minutes in. BLC is helping push me to do more than I would ordinarily, and that is awesome! So much so, I was determined to do an 80s workout video this morning before work. I just don't do that, people! But I did!
emoticon

I'm ready for my Weigh In tomorrow morning. It's going to be so much better than last week.

On a different note.. some of you may remember last year when Sherry Arnold left her house in Sidney, Montana on January 7 for her morning run, and never came home. She was killed by random strangers who stopped her and ended her life for no apparent reason. The suspects have been arrested, and each faces one count of deliberate homicide and attempted kidnapping.

February 9, 3013, is the Second Annual Virtual Run/Walk for Sherry. Iíll be running that day, and hope you will get out and run or walk in honor of Sherry and as a reminder to always ALWAYS be safe.

Adam Levine is cute, but Johnny Depp is my all-time celebrity crush! Has been since 1987 and that won't ever change for me.

I'm so glad Sherry's killers have been arrested. Thank you for that update. I hope your run goes well. And yay for getting out there and walking in the rain. It's snowy and windy with temps in the single digits at night and in the teens during the day with wind chills below zero, so there's no way I'm going out to do ANY unnecessary walking. Even Pogo gets out, does his bizness and runs back to the house! We're both southerners, so we're warm weather creatures! Enjoy your outdoor time, especially by the water! I'm jealous. Love you anyway! emoticon

Awesome! We worked on the dog path, so that involved a lot of bending, twisting, digging, walking, hauling, and truckin' up and down the path and big hill multiple times. That paid off! Nutrition went well, even if a little splurgy, so I'm happy with that as well.

Now it's time for bed! G'night gang!

Pssst!.. Hey.. you.. yea, you!

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Here we are, 12 weeks later at the end of BLC. You've released the lbs - congrats! Yes, you had some stumbles along the way, but you made your decisions, set your priorities, and you accomplished what you set out to do.
emoticon

It was a rough start. You didn't know anyone on the team, you bristled at some of the challenges, you started to dig in your heels.. and then you let all that worry go. You got to know teammates and encouraged them as they did you. You came to enjoy the challenges and used them to help drive you on toward your goals.

You're that much closer to 'racing weight' because you said you were going to do something.. and you did. It's so important to drop those pounds to feel more comfortable and confident for that Half in May... and in life in general. We can absolutely get back to August 2011 Candy if we stick to the plan and keep our eyes on the prize.

Aahhh. Better! I've been dithering about when it comes to the Rock'n'Roll Portland Half that I'm registered for. I use to run with a local Galloway group, but because of the gained weight and cranky attitude (mine, not theirs) I've left them. I followed a similar training plan for walking the Portland Half last October, and it worked well. I figured, even if I'm not running with the Galloway group, I can follow their training plan no matter if I'm running or walking it. So, that's what I'm doing.
emoticon
Right now, I'm pretty ok working toward this goal by myself. I do wish I could find someone as slow as me to run with me. One of the leaders of the Galloway group offered to slow the group down to allow me to stay with them, but that's not fair to those who are stronger better runners. I'm good with my decision, and I know if I get my running chops back to what ~I~ think they should be, I can rejoin them for the fellowship.

To help remind me of my goal, I'm wearing my Girlfriend's Half bling. It's a simply disk with the figure of a girlfriend running, and 13.1 on the face. The back reads Girlfriends Run 4ever! I'm going to do my level-best to wear this every day as a tangible reminder of what I want to do. I want to run (for new friends, my version of running is walking for 45 seconds, running for 45 seconds.. intervals) the R'n'R Half. That is my goal. I'm not going to worry about time, just effort and completing the run upright, healthy, and happy!

Anyway, that run, as slow as it was. left me feeling ~SO~ good all day long. It was certainly one of those "if only I could bottle this feeling" moments. I did ride my version of a runner's high all day long, and that carried over to my eating as well. I kept it under control, even if I splurged a bit in the process. If I eat well for my main meals, I eat less inbetween. Is that a duh moment or what? LOL I ~know~ this and yet I don't always employ it.
emoticon
I'm also coming out of TOM and looking forward to the morning when I get up and go potty and pee for 5 minutes straight. That's when I know I'm in the clear again. Was that TMI? Sorry.
emoticon
My menu for the week is planned out. It's full-on paleo, and it has a few things I've not tried before. Bill, stalwart man that he is, is game to cook and help me through it. You know I'll keep you updated on how it's going as time goes on.
emoticon
So far today, I've done my Upper Body workout with Coach Nicole, cleaned Millie and Maggie eye boogers, made another batch of Nutola for breakfast and snacks, done two loads of rugs laundry, with regular laundry at the ready on deck, fed all the animals, and I'm about to feed myself. Not bad for being up for two hours, eh?
emoticon
Real quick before I go - I did this Upper Body workout on Friday and this morning.
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/
videos-detail.asp?video=43

It's great to feel my muscles strain and work again. Part of this video involves hitting the floor and laying on your back, then stomach. Of course, when I do this, I have three cold noses and wet tongues in my face, ears, up my nose and anywhere else they can get me. The puppies are such HUGE HELPS when I'm working out LOL

Bubbie is my biggest supporter, and as I'm doing my thang, he's right there. The last move is a set of push-ups. As I start these, Bub moves right in front of my face, flops down, and lays with his paws up, belly right in line with my nose when I lower myself down LOLOLOLOLOL Crazy kid! I am so lucky to have such amazing little furbabies who love me so much they help me work out.
emoticon

Spark on my friends. Fast or slow, big or little, try to do something today that makes you feel as amazing as I think you are!

Once I figured out that I can make up for a bad day (because it's all about numbers averaging out over a period of time, right?) it made it easier to forgive myself when I had a bad day. Good job making up for a not so good day! I love your enthusiasm. It makes me want to train for something...although I'm not quite sure I'm ready for that though...but maybe soon!

Candy I have to tell you how much I love your blogs. Whether you're having a good day or a bad day, there's always something in them that makes me want to keep pushing through and makes me so proud of you for all of your insights. Thank you for writing them.

Love that you have the support of your family (fur babies and Bill) to help you along the way.

Sounds like you've had a great morning. Here's to a fabulous rest of the day!

You are such an inspiration to me! I have been down with a cold and not feeling like doing too much the past couple of days. You have lit my fire again and now I want to get to where I can run! I haven't run since I was a kid, but I really want to get the old ankle built back up and give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration!
