Even though Friday was my day off, we got up early and bundled up to head over to walk the kennel kids. It was 30-32 degrees out, which was fine except for the thin layer of ice over everything.

Three and a half hours later we had walked the equivalent of a 10K, and managed to not once slip and fall!

LOL I call that good fortune.

Once we got home, we showed, warmed up, and had lunch. I had a big lunch but I had a big appetite. I don't know if it was the cold or what, but Bill crashed for a long afternoon nap, and I slipped into a wakeful coma - that kind of state where you just don't move even though you're awake and aware. I think we got up to make dinner, and that was that!

Oddly enough (or maybe not) I had a very high calorie day and my biggest loss yet on the scale. Coincidence? We'll see. I know what you eat on one day does not automatically show up on the scale the next day, but I did find it interesting. We'll see how things trend over the next few days.

    It is good that you keep a log. Logging is my salvation that keeps me in line. Since you saw me last I have lost 9 lbs and I contribute it to consistently logging in my food and exercise. Keep up the good work with your animals. It is serendipity that they get to walk while exercising their walkers.

Do you find your BMR to be accurate? I make myself crazy looking at numbers and trying to make everything coordinate. Especially when those numbers can fluctuate all over the map.

    There's a big difference between being mindful about the snacks you're eating and eating mindlessly (I'm so guilty of falling into that when I'm tired or feeling 'off' for some reason!). I'd say that was a pretty decent day; an occasional higher calorie day can actually be a good thing so your body doesn't think you're starving it. Have a great day off and a wonderful weekend! .. and on the downhill slide. In a good way!

Yesterday was kennel kid walking day, so I spent my day at work waiting for the time I could bolt out of the building and go walk the furbabies. I thought I had packed a good day's worth of meals, but apparently it was a bit under on calories. I didn't feel hungry or shorted in any way. My ratios of proteins, carbs, and fats was just fine, my calorie count was just a bit low. I felt it this morning when I woke up.

I love walking kennel kids because I never know who I'm going to walk - a Pitbutt, a Chihuahua, a Terrier, old, young, fast, slow. Last night was a good mix of dogs, and I was lucky to get kisses from these two gentlemen:

I would totally take either one of them home in a heartbeat. They're older, well mannered, gentle souls who can look into your eyes and ~see~ you as you see them.

Brian, I visited in his kennel because someone else walked him. Ramone and I trotted around the dog path, chatting quietly about my day and his, and sniffing all the good spots. One of the best ways I've found to burn calories and get my steps in!

For dinner, Bill took the leftover roasted chicken and shredded it up for homemade taco salads. We bought those baking pans that you can use to bake your own taco shell bowls, and he baked some High Fiber Low Carb tortillas. My goodness, when you've worked up an appetite, home cookin' tastes that much better!

As some of your Fitbit users may have found, my Fitbit is reporting all the calories I burn in a day. Not all the calories are tied to fitness activities of course - I'm burning calories (though not many) right now as I sit here and type this. Anyway, I've found that since all my burned cals are being reported, my daily cals burned total is pretty high, and is putting me way over my expected calorie burn of 2,000 per week. I set that goal because for me, that is a good active week, and I know it is attainable. Spark of course admonishes me because I've burned more than expected and should up my calories-to-eat to make sure I'm getting enough fuel.

Not. Gonna. Happen.
I'm fine, I'm eating quite healthfully and nutritiously, I'm rarely left hungry (unless I don't plan well enough, and that's rare) and I'm consistently, bit by bit, losing. I'm not going to up my calorie range. I feel pretty good with where things are right now. I'll adjust if ever needed, but right now, I'm a happy girl.

    What sweet pups! I'd love to meet them... alas, I think you're on the other coast from me. DD is begging us for a dog. I'm a little leery though since we have 2 cats that have never been around dogs. We'll see...

Anyway, I noticed the same thing regarding the FitBit. I'm trying to figure out how to balance it's calorie count with SP. Sounds like you're taking a good approach.

    Those are totally handsome boys! It's wonderful that you make time to volunteer so often. I have a Fitbit as well and am always surprised by the calories burned. I use that information along with other sources and put it all together and try to come up with a plan that I think works best for me. It sounds like you're doing the same. Keep up the good work!

Yet another good day yesterday. I was tired again, and ended up having a cuppa coffee late in the afternoon to keep me going. I needed the pick-me-up so I could get home, harness up my Bubbie boy, and drag him and Bill around for a walk. He was a little trooper, enjoying the outing and meeting a couple of dogs along the way. Usually he's very reactive and barky and embarrassing when it comes to other dogs, but the other lady we met walking her two poo-poo'd the idea that he was mean and facilitated a nice meet'n'greet between Bubs and her dogs. Her dogs - tiny little Yorkies - didn't make a noise, and Bubs got over his over-excitement quickly, sniffed, play-bowed, barked, then laid down because no one was reacting back at him LOL Yay!

Once home, we had a delicious primal dinner and a lounge on the couch. He earned it!

No, that's not quite within my calories range. Spark harps that, due to my increased logged fitness minutes/calories burned, I should increase my intake. I did up my intended calorie burn to 2000 a week, although Fitbit is reporting that I'm burning much more than that. As long as I keep losing, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. I'm not too worried about it at this point.

    Great pic! I need to post some pix of my lil' hot potatoes - most nights I will have a perfect circle of sweat on my chest or back, depending upon which side I'm laying on when Clarice snuggles up to me...

There was a fitness walk at our local nature center this AM, but it was rained out! Certainly can't complain about the precipitation, we need it SO desperately - but I promised the doggies walksies as soon as it dries out a little...

Yesterday was a good day. I started off by getting up and getting workout gear on, booting the puppies outside to do their bizness, started the coffee, and headed downstairs to the treadmill. 25-odd minutes later, I re-emerged, my walk for the day done, and hit the shower. By the time I had beautified myself and was ready to face a Monday at work, I had plenty of time to snuggle the pups, chatter with the birds, catch up on the news, and enjoy my coffee.

Aaaahhhh.

Work slowly drained me of the will to live.

Not really. Well, mostly not really. It was an alright day, but I realized I was tireder from my morning walk than I'd anticipated. All I know is by the time I got home last evening, I was done. I had considered another walk on the tready but opted to let my initial efforts stand for the day. I changed into a nightie, forgot put to my Fitbit on, and made dinner, fed the puppies and birds, and caught up on Downton Abbey.

So, no Fitbit minutes, calorie burn, steps, info of any kind after 4:30 last night until 4:15 this morning. That's alright, I think it'll be ok. Maybe.

    I bet you can estimate your calories for your the time your fitbit wasn't on. I hate it when I forget to start my HRM but I swear it only happens when I'm really pushing myself and I really want to see the numbers. Ugh - technology.

I'm sorry work slowly drained your will to live. I wish I didn't understand. Thankfully my job is in a slightly better place of late - just too busy.

You are getting some great numbers and I love seeing the chart trend down. The line may not be as steep of a slope down in the future, but I'm betting on you and expect to see that line continue to go down-down-down-down for a long time to come!

    I see no oops here anywhere... you seem to have a really good grasp on how you're burning despite the fact that you forgot your fitbit....

And taking an evening off for downton abbey, after an energy suck day at work-- totally understandable.

You are on a really good path-- it has a lot of exercise, but also flexibility for life, without providing excuses.
