Journey to Machu Picchu

OK- I have a vision......

I'm in South America
In Peru, the Andes
climbing the Inca trail
to Machu Picchu!

I'm not carrying more weight than I have to
I'm fit - I trek uphill part of the way and enjoy it
I breath the fresh Andes air
I feel my muscles savour the trek
I see the most incredible view!

Back at the craft and clothes market
I try on regular size clothing
there are many choices
because they all fit me!

Exploring the local food market
I taste fresh fruit and vegetables
and new dishes too
I take a cooking class
and enjoy delectable Peruvian food!

In the train and on the bus
the seats are just comfortable
I have space to move around
and stretch my legs

This vision will be a reality
November 1 is the flight
to 3 weeks in Peru
including a 2 day hike to Machu Picchu!

August 1-Nov 1 = 3 months exactly to prepare
13 weeks
90 days

- Ongoing training for Army run 1/2 marathon in september
- add weight training
- add hills and cardio challenge- 'trek' in Parc de la Gatineau
- eat sensibly, drink plenty (of water!)
- Aim to weigh ?20lbs? less on take-off day
- Be as fit as I can be from now to three months.

New year-time to reflect and look forward

I can't believe it's 2013.
I couldn't believe when it was 2000, then couldn't believe when I heard that cell phones were going to have cameras. That was just so out of this world for me.

But here I am. Time passes whether I'm ready or not, whether I make the most of it or not.
I'm getting to the point where I'm inching closer to the 50s and leaving the 40s. Good grief.

So, with all that in mind, what do I do for 2013!?!?
Here's what I have so far:
Participate in 6 runs- I drafted a schedule on my spark page, it averages to a run every second month or so. 4 of them 5k, maybe one 10k and who knows maybe a 1/2 marathon. Leaving that door open!
This winter I bought a ski pass to a local ski hill for evening skiing, so I am going all out on that. Been twice already, 3 more times and it'll pay for itself!
Have fun, do what I like.
That's my bottom line this year.
Work to get there because it's a good idea and its necessary!

morning walk

Enjoyed my day off today with a nice long walk.

Left at about 8am, and drove to beautiful Lac Leamy. Parked at the first parking lot, walked to the lake, around the lake and made my way to turn around close to the Bob Guertin arena.

In total, I figure about 80 mins, and 6kms. I brought my umbrella, and it rained! Actually, it poured! Good thing I had a discussion with myself before leaving about if I could actually walk in the rain....also was so worried about not making it out that I left without having breakfast!

The other interesting thing is that I found out that seagulls can read....check out what happens when it's raining at the beach! They are all respecting the sign and swimming in the designated swimming area!

Now am I ever glad I went out for that walk!

Stepping forward

Two steps forward, one step back, two steps forward, one step back, then forward again!!!

SIMPLIFY my life: was my new years' resolution, and I'm still going at it. Stepping forward...

I've made small, constant changes and I'm working my way back to prioritizing my health again!

S-I-M-P-L-I-F-Y at this time means:

S sort (and mostly get rid of) stuff in and around the house- about 1/2 way done!

I mmerse myself in positive vibes and energy. Read books. Meditate. Surround myself with positive people. Live the positive life!

M otorcycle: bought myself a nice 1100 Vstar in May! Make time and opportunities to ride it now!

P rioritize: back to working 4 days/week since June 1st-yay!

L ive up to my REAL goals and not lose sight of them, each and every day. Time goes by so fast (yes- I've made my bucket list- may as well get a head start!)

I dentify stressors and decide if they are really worth stressing about, if so, do something about them

F amily and Friends: watch and partake in the kids childhoods, as they become young men! Appreciate and call my friends and family!

Y umminess: enjoying and being grateful for what each day has to offer, including the challenges
