It's been quite a while since I've taken the time to blog. I've been on spark for over a year now and I'm trying to manage my time better. I found that the first 6 months everything was clicking and the pounds were coming off, I was sparking, exercising, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep and then
My butt got kicked (other words, life got extremely crazy beyond my control) and I couldn't cope with it all. I had to care for a family member for a few months and my son became very difficult to live with.
Fast forward 15 months .... I've learned alot about myself, my body ... I am getting back on top! I have been exercising consistently (hurrah), I'm back to logging my food (yeah), but still trying to figure out the time factor on the computer. It is so easy for it to suck all my time, therefore I haven't been as "social" on spark. Please friends, I am still here, and I do comment/respond to people but on some days I just take the time to log in and track my exercise and nutrition.
What stimulated this blog was this positive statement I just read:
'When you are consistent in you healthy habits, magic is happening in your body and mind, even if the scale isn't moving.'
I'm ready for the magic to begin!

Today was weigh-in day ... lost 1/2 lb. Trying to think positive, better than gaining. I'm trying to develop a pattern in my life ...
I was tired this afternoon; got off work late and didn't really want to do D2W2 of the virtual exercise run/walk program. Luckily, for me, my husband was outside working on the driveway (we are preparing to have it paved).
I pulled in, put my stuff away from work and meandered upstairs to exercise. I'm so glad my husband is being so supportive, he doesn't complain about the lateness of dinner!
I did it, I only did the D2W2 circuit. I didn't add on as I usually do - but that's ok. There is always tomorrow (is that a song?) lol
Keep it up and I'll see results again!
One more thing ... I must say that I'm not being as communicative lately on Spark due to lack of time. I'm still checking in and logging my exercise and food but if I don't respond right away to my friends, please don't worry, I will it is just taking longer than usual. Thanks for everyones patience.

Hello spark friends!
On Tuesday I went to the doctor for my check in on how I'm doing ... I haven't lost much in the last few months. We talked about why and what I am doing different.
Surprise!!! I bought a blender over the summer and have been 'hooked' on fruit smoothies. Boy, they are so yummy. I have thoroughly enjoyed making them and drinking them. Had even shifted from my 'regular' breakfast (yogurt, walnuts and coffee) to a smoothie.
We came up with a decision. Apparently my metabolism isn't processing fruit/s that efficiently ... in other words, I can't really eat alot of fruit.
Ok, I can do this. I can learn to have a healthy lifestyle and make modifications where by body doesn't help.
I decided that I can have my yummy fruit smoothies 2 times a week (rather than 5) and reduce the amount of fruit adding in it. In other words, smaller servings.
We'll see how that affects me. If I can keep my calories within my range, exercise regularly, drink my water, and get enough rest ... I should see results.
Alright. I'm ready. These past few days have been good.
Besides tracking my calories, protein, and fiber I am also adding tracking carbohydrates. I knew they weren't my friend when it came to pasta and bread, but it's really sad that I have to group fruit into this category too. Oh well, eyes forward, I'll get over it. I can monitor myself. I guess I have to think of fruit as a special item. (Sigh)
My oh my .... the changes we are making. Results, here we come!
