One Little Mistake...

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Can make a big difference when it comes to losing weight. My little mistake was not changing my goal. You know, the one on the start page where you input your starting weight and your goal weight and the date you set for reaching that goal. It is very important to be accurate with this because it helps set your calorie range for tracking. Because I had not set mine correctly I was eating too many calories and not losing any weight. When I reset my starting date, my ending date, and my starting weight it lowered my calorie range by 300+ calories. My max calories is now lower that my minimum used to be. Maybe now I will see progress.

It's the Little Things That Get Me Off Track

Friday, July 08, 2011

It seems to me that I am allowing myself to be too easily distracted from my goal. For instance, I use an armband to hold my smart phone when I go walking. I use an app on my phone to track my distance and calories burned. The armband that I use comes with a neoprene strap that is removable so that the holder can be used with a belt. Now the last time I used the armband I noticed that it was ripping where the D-ring was sewed on. So what do I do? I stopped exercising, that's what. I allowed that small thing to totally derail me. Today I made a new strap out of material from an old t-shirt. I used the old strap for the pattern and used the velcro pieces from it on the new strap. When I was done, the first thing I thought was that now I could go walking again. Like I said, it's the little things the get me off track.

BUT now you're back ON track!!!! Good for you for "fixing" it and not just letting it stay broken! It's easy for a little thing to affect us so much, but I think it's true for many of us. Keep pressing on toward those goals, and jump back on track if you derail. :) Cheering you on!!!

Vacation's Over!

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Hit the walking path today and did 3 miles in 54:25. Had a good breakfast when I got home and kept my eating on track the rest of the day. Finished the day with 30 minutes of strength training. Since I am now well rested, I didn't fall asleep on the couch after my walk like before. Hopefully I now have all the tools I need to succeed and reach my goal.

My Sleeping Vacation

Sunday, June 26, 2011

Since I finally discovered a way to finally get a good nights sleep a week ago, I have been taking what i call a sleeping vacation. I have not been exercising and I have been sticking to my eating. I decided that I needed to catch up on a year's worth of lost sleep and I am happy to say it has worked. I no longer start nodding off every time I sit down nor do I feel the need to munch just to stay awake. I am much happier and my family is too. DH and I are both getting enough sleep so that we have more patients with out kids and I have noticed that we are laughing more. I even felt brave enough to try something new. My DH's Father's Group had a special Father's Day get-together for their member and their families. One of the activities was a climbing wall and I decided I wanted to try it. I made it half way up the wall before I had to come back down. I don't have any pictures to post because my DH was laughing too hard to take them. emoticon
My 8 year old DS made it all the way up to the top. Twice. My 9 year old DD only made it half way up. My son was extremely proud of himself especially since he finally beat his sister at something.

P.S. If you look closely you can see that the wall is made up of sections. Each section is about 3 feet tall. That means the wall was about 18 feet high.
