2 minutes not 2 seconds! ;0)

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

I had to edit my last post because i beat my best time by 2 minutes not 2 seconds!

I completed my first 5k!

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Sunday was the big day and it was a blast! There was over 2000 people in the race and the weather was almost perfect. It is a beautiful seaside course, as well.

I am still very slow (44:14) but I beat my personal best time by 2 minutes! It was great standing at the finish lne cheering on the hundreds of others crossing the line after me. I know how it feels now to finally see the finish line ahead and then cross it.

I am registered to run another one on September 29. I am hooked on this sport now! As a reward for finishing my first race I am going out this week to get a new pair of properly fitted running shoes.

I am a little disappointed with how slowly the weight has been coming off so I am renewing my efforts to carefully track everything I eat. I have also been building muscle and loosing inches so I know my efforts are paying off despite the scale. It feels great to be getting fit again!

42 days to go! Preparing for my big race day!

Monday, May 13, 2013

I haven't run by myself or with other people since I was in high school several decades ago! Back then I spent a lot of time trying to get out of PE class, but I am really into it now! How times have changed!

In preparation for my race on June 23, I wanted to get some of that race day experience so I went looking and found another big race happening nearby on May 26 and volunteered to help out.

My job will be preparing packages for the runners the day before the race and then recording bib numbers and runner's times as they cross the finish line on race day.

Since I have never attended a race before this should be good experience for me. It helps a charity, I get race experience, it increases community awarness of fitness and health, and I get a souvenir T-shirt, too! Win win win win!

Awesome. It is a great experience, especially when it's for charity. I have 3 races in June.

44 Days Untill My First 5k Race!

Saturday, May 11, 2013

I went running along the river today because my treadmill broke! I love the trail but the water is rising high because of record heat and rapid snow melt in the mountains. With rain on the way, it is likely that my favorite running path will be under water in a couple of weeks or less!

Did pretty good for time! emoticon

Good luck to you, hope you find somewhere else to run if your area is flooded.

Well, I finally signed up for my first 5k Race

Thursday, May 09, 2013

And there is no backing out because I also signed up to fundraise for the BC SPCA. I love animals and it is a thrill to be able to help animals in need while getting fit!
I began training two weeks ago and its rough. I think I am going to like running, though. I think I finally found my favorite sport!
