I did great on my goals Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Started feeling sick late Tuesday, though, so not much progress today. I just took some Nyquil, and I'm going to bed.

I'm trying to do better about planning out my days and/or weeks ahead of time. I also want to do better about holding myself accountable. So these are my goals for this week:
--Exercise for at least 10 mins. a day (one of my Fast Break goals from the very beginning).
--Do cardio at least 4 days, strength training at least 3 days.
--Go to the gym before work one day. (When I go, it's always after work or on the weekends. I want to try doing it before work and see how it goes.)
--Register for at least one 5K walk to do in March or April.
--Finish vision collage.
--Blog at least two more times this week. (I come on the website a lot, but I want to start blogging more.)
--Eat 2 or more fruits/veggies per day (another one of my Fast Break goals from the very beginning).
--Drink no more than 5 Diet Cokes a day. (Believe it or not, this is cutting down for me. I am a Diet Coke addict, a "chain drinker". My doctor told me to cut down very slowly so I won't get headaches from caffeine withdrawal. Doctor's advice was to cut down one drink a day going for a week at a time; so last week I had no more than 6 drinks a day.)
--Drink at least 3 glasses of water a day. (I'm slowly replacing the Diet Cokes with water.)
This is a pretty long list, but no individual item is really that big. They're all fairly small steps for me, so I think it is manageable. If I meet all of these goals this week, my reward will be to go shopping at the SparkPeople store.

I read this on another person's blog (GIRLINMOTION) and really liked it. I wanted to add it to my blog so that I can read it whenever I need help with my attitude. It makes me smile.
Attitude Is Everything:
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today."
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
"H-m-m, " she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today."
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YEAH!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
Attitude is everything.

Feeling bad because I gained weight this week (I weigh in on Mondays). So to make myself feel better, here are some good things I've done during the past few days:
--Completed all the tasks for the third week of the scavenger hunt that my SparkClass is doing.
--Finished my first reading of the Spark book. Next I'm going to go through it slowly and take notes on each chapter.
--I exercised for 30 minutes both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I walked on the treadmill, and Sunday I did a "Walk Away the Pounds" video.
--Yesterday I did strength training for 30 minutes with my trainer at the gym, then I walked on the treadmill for 30 more minutes. My trainer suggested that I try walking a little slower than I usually do, and increase the incline to 5.0. He wanted me to just try it to see what I thought. It was good to do something different. I think in the future I will vary the speed and incline more, and put some variety into my treadmill walking.

--I'm enjoying reading the Spark book. I'm currently on chapter 6. My plan is to read the whole book straight through, then go back and really study each chapter carefully. Reading the book is giving me a better overall concept of what SparkPeople is really all about. The website is so huge, and there's so much information available, and the book gives a clear overview of everything.
--Speaking of the huge website, I've been spending hours on SparkPeople almost every day. While it has been fun, I need to cut down on this amount of time. I've rationalized it by thinking how helpful it is, but I need to put in more actual work on myself. I need a little less computer time, and a lot more action!
--My SparkClass team leaders have been great about getting people involved in the site (I just joined a few weeks ago). Last week I completed all the assignments for week 2 of the scavenger hunt.
--I'm happy to have found the Risky Fitness Friends SparkTeam. The members actually get together "in real life" to exercise. I'm looking forward to meeting some Sparkers in person, and having some people to exercise with. Most of the time I exercise alone.
--I got a trophy for my January SparkPoints total. It seems kind of silly that online points and trophies can be motivating, but they can. It makes me feel good to get a little reward for my efforts.
--I've been cutting pictures and words out of magazines to use to create a vision collage. I'm kind of artsy craftsy, so it's fun for me to work on it. My goal is to finish it by the end of February.
--What I really need to work on now is planning. I've come to realize that in order to eat better and exercise more, I need to plan ahead. I can't just have good intentions, and keep wandering through life. I need to make plans and follow through on them.
