Bad girl!

Went out to diner last night and ate at Outback. I have no will power when it comes to eating out and I had everything bad on the menu. I felt guilty doing it but that didn't stop me. I loved every minute of my dining out experience. Is there no hope for me? I feel like I am going downhill. I want to give up and just eat whatever I want and skip the exercise. It doesn't seem like I am making any progress. One step forward two steps back. I won't quit, but I sure want to.

    Susan, Ha! I just read the same article and liked it so much I sent it to you!! :) I am glad you are going to hang in there with the rest of us! This can be a hard time of the year to actually lose weight. I am focusing more on maintaining my weight or maybe losing a little in December. And, gearing myself up mentally for working extra hard in the New Year! I am not giving myself permission to eat what I want through the holidays, for me that could mean gaining 15 pounds or more! No way!

    Hey, if you exercise, you get to eat more than if you don't. So, you should definately keep exercising. Plus, you may find that you like doing it after a while. Do you have any friends or family members that could join you for a walk sometimes, outside or at the mall? You might enjoy that, and you could talk at the same time. When I eat pizza, I am not normal... I totally eat way more than I'm supposed to, and I always feel like such a freak afterwards. Most of us have at least one food that we have a weakness for. I also like cookies and candy, but I resist. Once I started paying attention to the calorie count on everything, I didn't think those sweets were really worth my time. Maybe you could try the good for you items on the menu, a little bit at a time. See how you like them. Good luck!

    Hey, wait a minute Susan! You didn't eat the roll when we had lunch!! I ate the dumb roll and admired you for not eating a tasty yeast roll. We all have bad days, but the good news is we can jump right back on our program and keep on Sparking along. I ate way more than I planned over Thanksgiving, and still feel bloated from too much salty food. One day at a time, I will feel better and make better choices and get back to the pool to work out.     I think we all do the same thing - or we wouldn't be here - but it is how you deal with it that moves us forward. Honestly, for me when I went to a restaurant and didn't pick the bad choices was when I knew I was on the right track. Not that I don't slide back occasionally but they are smaller and smaller slides!

I can't tell you how much pie I've eaten! No clothes fit and I feel out of sorts. Two of my friends have recently been diagnosed with diabetes. All good reasons to stay on track! We'll get through this :-)

Exercise Set Back

I don't know what is going on, but I have been having a terrible time with my walking on the treadmill. I had been up to 17 minutes before stopping and walking a total of 21 minutes and recently I can barely manage 6 minutes before I have to stop and end up stopping 3 times in order to manage my 21 minutes. I don't know what is going on. It is like my legs have become tree stumps! I'll keep plugging along but it is such a set back for me.

Another low blood sugar episode during the early morning hours. My husband woke up early to check on me and I was out of it. Just about comatose. I was soaking wet with sweat and he had to call the rescue squad as I wasn't responding to glucose tablets. They came and I saw them but I couldn't put 2 and 2 together. I thought I was dreaming. I was still out of it when they left to go on another call. My husband brought me some milk and a pop tart and after quite some time I finally came around. My blood sugar was 35 at the time of the reaction. By breakfast it was up to 132 and I felt much better. Whew, those episodes take a lot out of me and I am exhausted. My poor husband is taking a nap and it is just noon! Oh well, I'm better. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

Thanksgiving Eve

It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is already here. Next thing it will be Christmas. TIme sure flies by. My plans for turkey day are very simple this year. My mom has been coming from CT to VA for the last 5 years to spend Thanksgiving with my husband and I but this year she is doing poorly health-wise and can't travel so we will be alone for the holiday. We found a small turkey so there won't be too much left-over. I will make my squash pie made with butternut squash instead of pumpkin. I make it with Splenda so I can enjoy it too. I hope all my Spark friends have a happy holiday!

I fell off the wagon!

I fell off the wagon last night and ate three slices of pizza and then had popcorn! Yikes did I blow my calorie count. Of course today wasn't much better because there was leftover pizza to clean up and I had three pieces for lunch. Now it is gone and I can get back on track. I feel guilty, but I really enjoyed the pizza. I don't eat it every day so I guess it is okay to splurge once in a while. As long as I don't make it a habit. I did walk today and at least I didn't skip my exercise. My blood sugar dropped during the night and my husband had to call 911. I recovered before they came out, but it makes me really tired and I thought it would be a day of sleeping for me. I managed to pull myself together and made it through the day.

    Boy I hear you!! I forgot the phrase, "fell off the wagon" but that's exactly what happened to me last night too! I had to get up every few hours to stoke the wood stove cz hubby is hunting, n every time I came downstairs I hit the cookie n candy jars. : ( n that's another thing I've been so bad at these last few weeks, is BUYING the darn stuff!! I was doing so good at passing it up in the grocery store, but lately my motivation n will power is gone. One good thing tho, I did my exercise today too!! And I wrote down every last bad cal. in my tracker. so I had 900 cals just for breakfast! UGH!! boy, talk about a downward spiral!! I gotta get back on track!! it's so scarey to get down here!! I've been reading blogs n post like crazy today to try to find some inspiration!! thanks for your blog. At least I'm not alone. : ) I just ate an apple, now I'll eat some gr. beans. : )
