I must be making better choices as far as eating out. We had Chinese buffet this evening and I put into the nutrition tracker what I had and came up right on target. That is a surprise.

Is it really time to start thinking about pumpkins and witches and black cats? Yes it is. I can't hide any longer. When empty stores in strip malls are bursting with Halloween stuff, not to mention that the big box home improvement site have Christmas stuff for sale, it is only weeks away.

I promised to put photos of the driveway up.

this is from the road to a little halfway up to the house.

My son dumped the rock from the bed of a pickup and I raked it smooth (more or less).



This shows the upper end of the whole driveway. Next week we will get the upper end of the driveway filled in with rock so the vehicles actually can park on the rock and not dirt all the time. Especially when it rains. I get tired of my shoes having half an inch of mud on them during the rainy times, which can happen any time of year here.

Eventually we will have a sloped stone ramp up into the garage instead of a ramp of dirt. We will have to build a retaining wall on either side of the ramp part but with a little perserverence we'll make it.

At the same time, my son is constructing the tie-in between the front and back decks. It runs the length of the house (about 60 feet) and will be 10 foot wide. We'll run a water line along the house side so I can water the planter in the front of the house more easily the with a 100 foot hose from under the deck, stretched around to the front.

It is still a work in progress, but we are making progress.

Do I have rocks in my head?

I have contacted contractors about putting in a crushed rock driveway on one side of our property and a French drain running along the the other side. Two have actually come out and given me quotes on the work to be done that were, to me, quite reasonable. The second fellow told me that he'd be able to do the job at the end of June. Just give him a call. Well I did. Three times. No response.

So my son and I have been shoveling pickup loads of crushed rock for two and a half days and have close to 100 feet of driveway done. We'll take a break until the company that supplies the rock has time to get more in.

I find it very hard to do a blog every day now. I'll check in now and then just to let people know I haven't forgotten.

In the off chance the someone might be interested, I'm going to add a picture taken last January. We had a little snow and the reaction of the outdoor cats (at the time only 9 months old) was funny.
This is Bobbie hopping from foot step to foot step.

And this one is Sonny following my son to the garage.

iphone what?

One of the things I saw at the concert was people with iphones or whatever taking pictures. From what I could see, they take pretty good pictures. I still won't get one since I have trouble getting the photos out of my camera all the time. I know how, it's just not one of my priorities.

The one time I did get photos onto my hard drive, I lost them two months later when I didn't back them up before I reformatted the drive. What really hurt was that some were taken the last day I was in California on my vacation. Better off safe than sorry.
