Could it be?

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

Today I was watching television and everyone knows that there are lots of food commercials for every program. This one commercial had me thinking and craving because the food looked so good but all of a sudden I realize I was watching a commercial for salad dressing and this commercial had cauliflower and huge green salads and carrot sticks and tomatoes and cucumbers. I am thinking I have got to buy me this food. So could this be the influence that Spark has had on me that now that I have learned what certain fast foods and junk foods have in the way of calories and fat and other unhealthy benefits that they are loosing their hold on me? It has got to be true so thank you Spark for the education you are providing because my thinking has to first change before anything else will. So I am looking forward to my reprogramming.

I have found that you do see food in a different way after being here at SP exploring all that it has to offer....of course, it takes time and hard work to collect all the tools that fit your lifestyle and adjust certain things. The most important thing is that you do it at your pace & time and remember that when you do get off track (for whatever reason) that you can always get back on track. The NEVER GIVE UP saying works for this journey of healthy living and there is so much to learn about everything....YOU, food, exercise and what makes you happy day after day....and you do deserve to be HAPPY.

Have a wonderful healthy Tuesday.....

I am Fat but I am not Lazy

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Today while looking at the messages posted on Spark CAFE I came across a topic that greatly disturbed me. The postings on this topic have been very judgemental by a certain young lady who claims she does not need support to lose weight. Also one posting by her made the statement that she thinks people who are extremely overweight are lazy. At first this statement hurt my feelings and caused me to cry but now I realize that it is an untrue and just general statement made by someone who is very misguided. I am fat because I have made poor choices in the past but I have never been lazy and never have any of my friends who are on Spark. I have worked hard all my life to hold a job and raise my family and help my husband do it too. People who are fat are not stupid and we are not lazy and we are not ugly. I work hard every day to boost my self esteem and make me want to stay on Spark and lose my weight to be healthier and there are so many beautiful and talented and hard working people who are at Spark. I hope I can continue to support and help them as much as they have helped me. Also I am trying very hard to not be judgemental of this young woman who has been posting on Spark and I just wanted to go on record but I did not want to answer on the posting. She may not need support but I sure do and I am grateful for it. Thanks everyone.

I remember a song growing up with the words..."Everything Is Beautiful in it's own way" which makes me think that "Everyone Is Beautiful in their own way". I find myself at times looking at others and then wondering who, what, where & how they are. Since being here on SP spreading the Spark has been a joy. While walking on a beach walkway with my SparkPeople shirt on last summer an elderly gentlemen stopped me and asked me what was....he caught me off guard and I had to stop and think what to say to him....he seemed interested in knowing that there was support to a healthy life within reach and impressed that I had lost weight, because of it. I try to accept everyone for who they are and not find fault with them. Everyone is Beautiful .... and deserves support no matter what they do/say...we are all looking for something in life to make us a better person. Happy Sparking to you today & always

Most overweight people aren't lazy. It has been my experience that large people work as hard or harder than skinny folks.

You have inspired me....I've added you as a are thoughtful and kind...There is a saying " If your gonna judge me, keep the verdict to yourself" We are all on this planet to help one another out every once in awhile...It takes more energy, hard work to be nice., so easy to be mean,judgemental,ect.. Thought & Prayers To You! Thank You! emoticon

Kutoes to you for not letting another persons thoughtless comments get to you. There will always be someone who wants to make themselves feel more superior by trashing others and that's too bad for them. Those who are able to rise above such comments are the real winners. In my book you are a real winner. Thanks for coming by and visiting my page. I always look forward to meeting new people. You've made my day. Trish :)

Sweetie people that have that idea and attitude really don't have a clue about what our lives are truly like. They probably couldn't do half of what we have accomplished, and that's all the while as we are carrying around an extra 100lbs. Don't even give it a thought. You are an extremely strong and kind person and no one could convince me of anything different.

Right on! Thank goodness I haven't run into any judgemental people like that. I would have given her a piece of my mind. I agree with you 110%.
Keep on keepin on!
