7/24/11 Another milestone!! Today we walked 8 miles!! The furthest I had ever gone was 6 miles so I am beyond stoked and proud!! we hiked up on Coyote Creek Trail and Vickie and I were excited, that lasted right up until it started to get dark. There are no lights out there and we thought we would be done before that!! Pepe Le Pew was as startled to see us as we were to see him!!! Thank goodness HE ran the other way, but I thought Vickie might have a stroke!! HAHA we did 8 miles in 2 hours and 23 min for just over a 17 minute mile average.. OMGOSH I am sooo happy!!!! I have a couple blisters and a pulled calf (slight pull) but man I'm happy! this week is 10 miles. HERE WE COME!!

7/20/11 Today I did something I never thought I could do, STAIRS!!!! yes I did a modified stairs (2/3 of the way to the top instead of all the way) and it was 2 big rounds of the stadium at the track) but I DID IT!!! I was sooo excited, I may conquer those stairs yet!! This weekend we do 8 miles and I'm pretty nervous. That will be the most I have ever done so I'm nervous and excited at the same time. My fundraising is going so slow so please if you can donate a little something, something to help this great cause!

I have started my training and this week and I broke the 20 min Mile, we (my sister in law and I) actually did a 16.25 minute mile!! I was so excited and proud!! We did 4 miles at lovers point in Pacific Grove, a GORGEOUS place and I was happy to really do well. this week we are doing SIX miles!! I am looking forward to the challenge! I chose the SJ R&R because this is my first one and it is flat! and there is lots of music to motivate me to get going!! It's also near my home so that really helps! There will be other members of TNT doing this race so I will not be alone, not that I ever am, TNT is with me every step of the way, training, guiding, and just being there when I freak out!! If you ever wanted to do a marathon this is the way to go! I'll be 50 in December and it was on my list to do. Now, I get to check that off AND help a great cause!! Please donate what you can!!!

I'm training to participate in an endurance event called the "San Jose Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon" as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my Uncle Mack pictured above and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Hi Cary...what an ambitious girl you are. I am so happy to hear you so motivated and doing the 1/2 marathon for such a good cause. What is the date of the event? What does TNT mean....is it "team in training". I'm interested to learn more about it.
Your training sessions sound wonderful. I too am getting into the exercise more and more. Today i walked 8 km and worked in my garden so I am feeling quite good with my activity today. My son and I are planing on participating in the Army Run in Ottawa in Sept. He will be running...I will walk it. It is to benefit the soldiers and their families who have been injured overseas. The beginning of the event starts with the soldiers leading the way and to see these men and women in wheelchairs or with artificial limbs just gives you goosebumps.
Keep up the enthusiasm Cary. You are an inspiration to me.

A new year-2011

Friday, December 31, 2010

So 2010 was not a total loss, I ended the year with a 14.25 pound loss. Most of that from August-December when I got really serious. I want to triple that in 2011 for a total of 42 pounds. That is 1 pound a week, that is totally do-able if I focus.

I also want to spend more time with my friends & family, spend more time crafting and getting back to cooking! I miss these things so much!

I plan to put together an emergency fund for a rainy day and for some fun!!

So here is how I plan to do that.

1) Eating Better
A) Putting to good use the 6 gazillion cookbooks I have
B) making a meal plan and stick to it!
C) Weigh Measure Record everything
D) Add more Fruits and Vegetables to my diet
2)Exercise more consistently
A) Make ME a priority
B) Go to gym 4x weekly minimum
C) When weather permits go outside and walk while at work
D) Start training for 1/2 marathon!
3) Get back to cooking
A) utilize previously mentioned cookbooks
B) Try a new recipe every week (one meal/one dessert)
C)Get back to once a week cooking
4) Save Money
A) Put away money for an emergency fund
B) Put away money for BDay
5) Get back to crafting!
A) set aside Sunday afternoons for crafting 3x a month
6) I miss my friends!!
A) Make plans with my friends to get together!
B) Street fairs, the beach, Friday night music All free things!
and free is my friend!
C) Plan a bowling night with whomever can come once a month
D) Plan dinner out with friends one night a month with whomever can come
7) ORGANIZE!!
A) spend 15 min each night taking care of one thing.
B) get rid of anything I don't need or haven't used.
C) put everything in its place and make sure it stays or returns there!
8) Make time for me!
A) Stick to the plan and I'll have time for me!!!!!
9) Appreciate my job and the wonderful people I work with!
10) Be open to new relationships
A) go places where I can meet new people
11) and most importantly: spend time with Family!!
A) Organize a family outing once every couple months.

If I do all these things I should have an amazing and awesome year!

My how time flies!

Saturday, October 23, 2010

when your overloaded!! LOL.. well It's much longer then 6 weeks but here I am. since I last wrote I am down 5 1/4 pounds but it has been a struggle in Sept and Oct. I have declared this the year of fun but man I have not had much fun. Work is busy and I'm tired all the time but NO MORE. I'm going to get back on track of taking care of me first. When I don't it all goes north and not in a good way!

I plan to get back to the basics and go to the gym regularly and get back to walking and just taking care of myself!! got some grocery's and am meal planning. I own a gazillion cookbooks and I MISS COOKING. Since my daughter moved out I have a hard time cooking for one. But I'm going to freeze leftovers or share with my co-workers LOL I'm sure they won't mind!

I have to get back to taking care of me and doing things that I enjoy. Everything has suffered including my attitude so its back to being a tiny bit selfish!!!

Lets make this a good one!

When trying to make a change in one's lifestyle, you have to be a little selfish. All's going to work out if you stick to your plan. If you fall one day, just get up, wipe yourself off, and keep on going. It's all about baby steps.

A Little behind Schedule...

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Well I wanted to be a little more ahead of the game then this but life intervenes! I have gotten into exercise a lot more recently and my sister in law vicky has really helped to keep me on track at the gym. My walking group keeps me motivated there and my friend Lynn and I walk On sundays and that is like therapy to me with one of my best friends! I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life!! I've been trying to document my life in the way of pictures and I have declared this the year of fun 2010 and I've really tried to keep that up! I have had an up and down month but overall I feel really good about where I'm at. I'm exercising regularly, drinking more water. i've given up diet coke!! shock of all shocks! And over all I feel really good so hopefully it won't take another 6 weeks before I write again...
