Making a movie!

Saturday, February 07, 2009

My daughter's class is reading Your Mother is a Neanderthal, or something like that. To make sure they are paying attention, they have to put together some project that summarizes the book. My daughter and her friend decided to make a movie. (Very creative, they are!)

So, today around 11:30, my house started getting overrun by pre-teens! All 12-year olds. Man, do they have a lot of energy. Finally, everyone arrived by 12:30 and they were one person short. Guess who got to be in the movie!?! Yep, me! No one could tell that I was the only 40-year-old! No wrinkles or gray hair or anything! LOL!!

It was a kick watching their creative juices flowing. I did suggest a little bit, but mostly just to get their butts in gear so we could be done. It was cold out there!!! I'll let you all know when I'm nominated for the Oscar. hee hee

So very tired

Friday, February 06, 2009

It was a long week and I was very ready for this day to end. After I got home and made dinner for everyone (sandwiches and stew), I headed in to change for the gym. I came so very close to just changing into PJ's instead of work out gear. Then I remembered that all of those folks who get to the gym before me every other day of the week don't come on Fridays! So I changed and headed out.

When I got to the gym, there were no parking spaces! I saw someone's reverse lights pop on, so I let them out and then took their spot! Walked into the gym and there were only four other people there! Turns out, the rest of the cars in the parking lot were for the pizza place, the movie place and the convenience store! Yay! I did my workout and felt much better when I got done. Glad I went.

Now I'm home. I've had my dinner (supper?) and am ready to go veg on the couch and watch What Not To Wear.

Busy night

Even before I made it home, I needed to make a side trip. My daughter was studying at a friend's house, so I picked her up before going home. As soon as I got home, I made dinner for everyone (even me!) and ate. Put together a stew in the crock pot to cook tomorrow and then headed to the gym. Came home, made tea, took a shower.

As soon as I log off of Spark People, I need to prepare my meals for tomorrow and then I think I will FINALLY be able to sit down and just relax! Of course, that means doing the crossword and jumble in our daily paper and possibly finishing my book. I can't just sit! Type A personality, that's me!

Sick family

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

My son stayed home from school today. His ear hurts, he's coughing and he threw up some today as well. My husband has a milder case of whatever my son has. I leaned over to give my son a kiss and he had a coughing spell just as I got in front of him. I am fighting this off! No time to be sick. Plus, it's just no fun.

Luckily, my daughter has not caught anything yet and I'm hoping she won't. Both boys are sleeping peacefully right now. I hope they both feel better in the morning.

8.5 MPH on the treadmill !!!

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

If any of you watch The Biggest Loser, you know that the trainers have the contestants run for 30 seconds at a seemingly rapid pace. Usually it's 6.0 mph in the first couple of weeks. Sometimes faster.

Tonight, I went to the gym and it was CROWDED! All of these people who obviously didn't check with me first were using the ellipticals. (Yes, I know, the world/gym doesn't revolve around me. But it should!) emoticon

Because my favorite machines were being used, I decided to use the treadmill tonight. And, yes, the Biggest Loser was on. I thought to myself, If they can do it, I can do it, right? So, I did 30 seconds at 6 mph. Rested for a little bit and decided I could do better. 7.0 mph for 30 seconds. Yes! Then 7.5 and then 8.0. I did 8.0 mph three times, 30 seconds per time. Then, with two minutes left in my 30 minute work out, I decided to go all out. 8.5 mph for 30 seconds and I DID IT!!!! emoticon

Holy moly!! And, to add to the difficulty (at least in my mind), I am only 5'1". My short little legs had to take a bunch of steps really fast to run that fast. emoticon

I'll probably feel it tomorrow, but it was totally worth it. I'll be bragging on myself tomorrow at work. And anywhere else I can get someone to listen. emoticon
