Even before I made it home, I needed to make a side trip. My daughter was studying at a friend's house, so I picked her up before going home. As soon as I got home, I made dinner for everyone (even me!) and ate. Put together a stew in the crock pot to cook tomorrow and then headed to the gym. Came home, made tea, took a shower.
As soon as I log off of Spark People, I need to prepare my meals for tomorrow and then I think I will FINALLY be able to sit down and just relax! Of course, that means doing the crossword and jumble in our daily paper and possibly finishing my book. I can't just sit! Type A personality, that's me!

My son stayed home from school today. His ear hurts, he's coughing and he threw up some today as well. My husband has a milder case of whatever my son has. I leaned over to give my son a kiss and he had a coughing spell just as I got in front of him. I am fighting this off! No time to be sick. Plus, it's just no fun.
Luckily, my daughter has not caught anything yet and I'm hoping she won't. Both boys are sleeping peacefully right now. I hope they both feel better in the morning.

If any of you watch The Biggest Loser, you know that the trainers have the contestants run for 30 seconds at a seemingly rapid pace. Usually it's 6.0 mph in the first couple of weeks. Sometimes faster.
Tonight, I went to the gym and it was CROWDED! All of these people who obviously didn't check with me first were using the ellipticals. (Yes, I know, the world/gym doesn't revolve around me. But it should!)
Because my favorite machines were being used, I decided to use the treadmill tonight. And, yes, the Biggest Loser was on. I thought to myself, If they can do it, I can do it, right? So, I did 30 seconds at 6 mph. Rested for a little bit and decided I could do better. 7.0 mph for 30 seconds. Yes! Then 7.5 and then 8.0. I did 8.0 mph three times, 30 seconds per time. Then, with two minutes left in my 30 minute work out, I decided to go all out. 8.5 mph for 30 seconds and I DID IT!!!!
Holy moly!! And, to add to the difficulty (at least in my mind), I am only 5'1". My short little legs had to take a bunch of steps really fast to run that fast.
I'll probably feel it tomorrow, but it was totally worth it. I'll be bragging on myself tomorrow at work. And anywhere else I can get someone to listen.

I went to the gym today, again partly because it's what I do. DH isn't feeling well, so didn't come with me. So, I took advantage of being on my own by lifting upper body. It's been awhile, so lifting the same weights was harder than it used to be. But it did feel good!
Another benefit of lifting before cardio is that by the time I was done lifting, all of the people on MY (hee hee) machines were done and I had my pick! I did forty minutes and bumped the resistance up to 10 during the commercials. Good variation that helps me not be so bored. And the sun is shining! Maybe the warmth will follow soon.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. MDTWEETY, my gym doesn't have group classes and I'm okay with that. The only group class I've ever really liked was kick boxing. We actually got to make contact (with bags!) and it was a GREAT stress buster. Then the instructor got fired (for always being late) and the new instructor wasn't as good. It became more of a "flick" boxing class. No contact, no form, no fun. Next best is working out with a friend. We push each other!
Thanks SHARE1951, for understanding. We'll make it to the warm weather, I know we will!!
