I'm not allowed to yell at my kid....

Monday, March 29, 2010

during softball practice. At least, not as her coach. Cos I'm not her coach this year! LOL! And trust me, I'm okay with it! Her coach is the varsity softball coach for our local high school. He will be great for her and I am very glad that she is on his team.

I just miss getting to tell her to run faster, try harder, do more!! emoticon I still give her a little grief from the sidelines, but not as much as in the past. emoticon I don't think she misses it though. Odd, huh?

Oh! Problem solved! I'll just tell her all that stuff on the way to practice, on the way home from practice and in between all of the practices!!! Yay for me! Not so yay for her! It's gonna be a good week!

You are so creative in figuring out how to get to your daughter without being coach. She'll probably be asking to walk to practice before long.

That must be hard. My DH was all 3 of my kids coach at one time or another. Baseball, Softball and Basketball. He could never keep his mouth shut, no matter what. I'm so glad that's over with. Now I have to worry that he will want to coach the grandkids. Please pray for me! LOL

Good day for a nap!

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Hello all! Got up around 9:00 today. Took the kids to breakfast at a place that has an all you can eat buffet. I ordered from the menu. Yay me! Came home and started reading....sorta. Actually cuddled under my blanket and fell asleep. It was nice!

Got up, ate breakfast, gathered kids for my kids to play with, and did my workout! After my workout, DH called and said that he and his folks were ready to meet us for dinner. emoticon They were ready a full hour before they normally are. Talk about hustling!

After dinner, I got a new holder for my silverware and picked up some more doggy diapers. Fun, huh? Or not... emoticon

That's it. My whole day. Hoping for bed soon.

See y'all on the flip side!

Mornings are better for everything, but I don't have enough time!

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Yesterday, in my status, I said that I was trying to decide if I should go grocery shopping in the morning or to the gym first.

Pros of grocery shopping first:
Fewer people at the store
Still time to work out later
Fewer people at the store

Cons of grocery shopping first:
Might not work out.

Pros of working out first:
Will get it done and out of the way.
More likely to eat better all day

Cons of working out first.
More people at the grocery store

Yep, that about sums it up!

Can you tell that I'm not a big fan of people? LOL! So...what did I do?

I got up at 8:00, started laundry and ate some breakfast. Did some more laundry, got dressed and Sparked some. I was trying to make myself do something...anything! Finally, at 10:00, I went upstairs and did my DVD. After that, I did some more laundry, gathered my library books and headed to the library and then the gym. And guess what? The gym was crowded!!

Okay, it wasn't so crowded that I couldn't get a favorite machine even..but there were people there! And I don't share well! emoticon At least in my head I don't. My gym! You go away! Shoo! LOL!

After the gym, came home, made potato soup and cooked broccoli, showered and gathered my grocery list and coupons. Left the house shortly after 2:30. The Gluten Free store was great! Except they didn't have one of the items I wanted. They are ordering it for me, so all's good. PLUS, I didn't have to go to Wal-Mart this week! SCORE!!

Hit Bed, Bath and Beyond for a bunco hostess gift. Also found a great scrubber that I will ban my family from using! And, got a new silverware holder that is "this much" too big for my drawer. Exchanging that tomorrow, dang it!

Then, headed to the grocery store. I swear, people are annoyin'! LOL! There were a lot of people at the store, young to old, and for the most part were polite and aware. know how when you go to the grocery store, you start seeing the same people in most every aisle? Most of the time, no big deal. But there is always that one person (or that one group or couple or whatever) that just doesn't get it. They are the people who steer the cart in the middle of the aisle and then leave it there when they go to look for something on a shelf. Or park the cart to the side and then stand right next to it, blocking the aisle, while they look for something. AND, if you say excuse me, they act like you just asked if you could kiss their goat! emoticon

One particularly annoying maze today...Fairly wide aisle. Cart to the left, cart to the right. just enough room for one cart to get through between them. I'm heading south and there is a chain of folks heading north. I wait for them all to clear out. Last one stops...yes STOPS! between the other two carts!!! Then, backs up and heads back the other direction! Of course, it wasn't quite that quick. They had to discuss their plans first. UGH!!! See why I think people are yucky! LOL!!

Luckily, I got away from that couple and was able to finish my shopping relatively roadblock free. And I spent less money than normal. emoticon emoticon Either I was a thrifty planner/shopper or I forgot a bunch of stuff. We'll know in a few days when I start to make dinner and don't have a thing to cook! LOL!

Grocery shopping at 3:00 in the morning is sounding better all the time. Even if it does mean I have to carry all of the groceries in by myself!

Grocery shopping is such a waste of time. It's always the same food and you no sooner get it done and you have to start all over again. i find if I stick to the perimeter it isn't too crowded. nobody likes the healthy stuff.

Yep, I stopped going to a certain grocery because I was so overstimulated by the mass of people and amazing rudeness. I don't have agoraphobia, but I guess I'm a 'shoppe' size shopper than a 'big box' one when I have a long list to purchase. When my children were young and DH was home, I'd often go to that certain grocery after midnight just to have space that I could maneuver easily, avoiding human contact. Downside: No bakery, deli, or meat counter employees, of course.
No mall for me at holiday or sale times unless the store I want to go to has an exterior entrance.

    Hello Sis,

We must be related cause I had issues yesterday at the home improvement store too. How many people were in a hurry to butt in front of me, or go that extra effort to get in front of me, to only get in front of me and SLOW DOWN? It was starting to drive me buggy! It happened several times, probably like 4 or 5. Guess I wasn't playing well with others yesterday! The one jerk that nearly run me over to get ahead of me to only slow down made a fatal error. He let ME get in front of him again and I REALLY SLOWED DOWN and made it to where he had to WAIT, LOL.

Amazing what makes a persons day!

Hope your weekend continues on the good track

OMG.... lady, you are singing my song. I could have written this... every last word! I HATE... DESPISE.... ABHOR.... (can you think of a stronger word) grocery shopping, for all the reasons you have said here.

Fortunately for me, I found an "out" (shhhhh, don't tell anyone emoticon) my BF is doing all the grocery shopping most of the time now because my weekends are full of studying. In return I do all of the laundry and most of the dog-related chores. Bless him! He doesn't like it much either, but he doesn't hate it the way I do. Thank heavens for willing BFs!

lol. Grocery shopping is a great challenge in patience! I like to go early too so I can get in and out without dealing w rude people.
I like to ride my bike to the store for small things. Fridays or Saturdays are the big shopping days though. But if I ride my bike there....I kill two birds w one stone! So I look for any excuse to go somewhere and I haul a backpack.

Have a great Sunday

Found it!! And other interesting thoughts

Saturday, March 27, 2010

I blogged earlier in the week about an odor coming from my pantry. I asked my son if he could find the source because I had tried (multiple times!) and failed! He found it!! There was one rotten potato in my 10# sack and two that were "suspicious." emoticon I threw them away and the pantry is practically spring fresh!

Okay, I may have exaggerated on the "interesting" part of interesting thoughts. But here goes anyway.

Ran the dishwasher for the first time tonight. Less than one hour for a full normal cycle and very quiet. Except when the top arm started hitting one of the bowls in the top shelf. Ooops!

MIL ran the dryer today, twice. Once to dry sheets, the second time to dry a blanket. And that's it...twice!! Would have taken SO much longer than that before! I'm so confident that the dryer will work as I expect it to, that I didn't even start a load of laundry tonight! How's that fore confidence?!?!

Drank a monster Monster (as in a HUGE Monster energy drink) around three o'clock today. I was hyper and weird all afternoon until well after supper. And...for all you smart alecks out there...more hyper and more weird than normal..yes, people could tell!! emoticon

Walking to the cafeteria today, i started talking to one of the guys I work with. He asked if i was married and I said Yes. He asked if I was getting divorced. emoticon "Not that I know of" I replied with raised eyebrows. Turns out, he was trying to tell me that he noticed that I had lost weight and was looking good. emoticon His first thought, apparently, was that I was getting divorced and I was losing weight to show my "soon-to-be-ex" what he was missing! LOL!! How cynical is that?!?! He told me that my husband was a very lucky man. "Yes, he is!" I replied modestly. "And I remind him of that often!" LOL! I'm still laughing about the whole thing!

My son was playing in his room and was very quiet. Mom alert sounded so I went to check on him. He fell asleep, fully clothed (including shoes!) laying crosswise on his bed. I just turned off the light and let him be.

Our boxer is in heat. emoticon It looks like she has TOM, so she has to wear a diaper. Guess who hates the diaper? I think it's a toss-up. I hate trying to get the dang thing to stay on her. She does everything she can to chew it off of her. Okay...she wins the Who-hates-it-more contest. Poor thing.

Okay, the monster Monster is wearing off. My eyes are tired and my bones are tired. Need to do my thing and get in bed.

Spark y'all (ya'll?) (youse guys?) tomorrow!

Seems to be a fact of life that when women get thin they divorce their husbands. A lot of my nurse friends did just that after they lost all their weight-maybe that was why your friend said that to you about divorce. Glad your hubby appreicates you!!! Glad people are noticing your weight loss-what a better way to stay motivated!!

Don't you love that monster Monster feeling? Hope you were able to sleep. I get to the point where I feel tired and try to sleep, but my brain doesn't agree. "You fed my caffeine? Well you aren't sleeping anymore tonight. I'm the boss."
I'm glad your appliances are working well. Dryers are expensive enough without having to rerun loads.
I can just picture your dog. Will you eventually get her spayed?

My age is excited about a new dishwasher!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

And the fact that my dryer vents got cleaned out too! LOL! I don't even do the dishes and I'm stoked about it. It has a brushed stainless steel front and a very roomy interior. Showed the kids the basic functionality. It's my son's week to do dishes. He was trying to hide it, but he was excited that he was the first one to use the new dishwasher. And...yes...I'm going to post a picture. My son mocked me about both the photo and the blog. Punky little brat! LOL!

As sad as it is to admit, I'm actually looking forward to doing laundry this week! emoticon It's been taking about 6 hours to dry one load of laundry. Turns out that the pipe between the dryer and the wall was full of water and went lint. PLUS, the pipe under the house had a non-optimal configuration. They fixed both, cleaned the vents and only charged $70! Very happy with that. Especially after the guy who went under the house let me know about our widows. UGH!! emoticon Glad it wasn't me down there!

BTW, this has not been a good week for me, calorie wise. I was in range yesterday and "only" 56 calories over today. No exercise to speak of either. BUT, I am pretty happy with myself about my plans for tomorrow. I take both breakfast and lunch to work with me and eat breakfast at my desk. I didn't see anything that appealed to me for breakfast, so i decided that I would buy my breakfast. Knowing full well I would get a drive through biscuit gajillion calorie sandwich...or two. emoticon

A little bit later, I was looking through my stack o'cards, looking for my library card (Going to reread Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!). As I was sorting, I found/saw my Blimpie's frequent buyer card. Hey! I can go out to lunch instead of breakfast, eat at Blimpie's, give myself a treat and still stay in calorie range!! Yay for me!!! So, beef enchiladas for breakfast and Blimpie's for lunch. I need to go to bed so I can start eating! LOL!

    You guys are fantastic!
Your DS is looking forward to washing the dishes in the new dishwasher and you are looking forward to doing the laundry with that new ductwork on that dryer. I'll bet your dryer last much longer too now with that problem fixed.

WTG on your streaks too. Blimpie's sounded good for lunch. Haven't eaten there in ages.

We had a dishwasher growing up and we even fought about who had t6o unload it. Now I'd give my eyeteeth for one. My son is supposed to do the dishes, but they sometimes sit for days. The battles get ugly. I do them just out of frustration.
