Can you say "enabler"?

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Not only can I say it...I can act it out! LOL!! I'm going to start out with a list of excuses. None are valid, but that matters not! I'm doing it anyway.

Really long, boring day at work. Tired of being bored and asking the boss and having him not rearrange some of the work...especially since the new guy is buried!

Hungry all day. Don't know why, just was. Ate all of my healthy snacks that I took and did not go to the vending machine.

Gave blood. 'Nuff said! LOL!

Kids didn't do their chores...again. Made me cranky! Okay...crankier! LOL!

Anyway, after dinner, DH said that he would buy if I would fly...ice cream. Okay! said I (after about a millisecond hesitation, if that). Of course, I didn't want ice cream. Mostly, I wanted out of the house. Went to the grocery store and bought ice cream for the family and Lorna Doone cookies for me. I had two servings (and no servings in the car on the way home! I wanted to, but I didn't!) and then I put the cookies away. STEP AWAY FROM THE COOKIES! DANGER, DANGER!

So, not only did I enable DH's craving, I enabled my own! I also didn't go to the gym, even tho I dressed for it. I decided that I needed to stay home and get some work done. After all, I gave blood and I'm supposed to rest up. (Told you I had a list of excuses!)

I'm feeling less cranky now. Tomorrow is Friday and another chance for the boss to give me something to do! Plus, it's pizza night. Chicken, garlic, artichoke, bacon pizza, here I come!!

Oh yeah, and when I asked my son what I should blog about, he said to blog about how handsome he is, how much I love him and how much money I'm going to give him. So here it is...Very, Lots, Zero! emoticon

    Super blog!

How entertaining and the ending was a hoot!
You rock girl!

I guess we are supposed to have days like that, but not sure why!

I guess those days make us appreciate the other, in control days, even more. The part where you described cranky or crankier, reminded me of OUR house, and of course I'm SPeaking of my DW, not Little Ol' Me,

LOL and we all know that I'm certainly not a little ol' me, just ol me

Have a super Friday and that pizza sounds super, Hope you don't notice that you're missin' a piece, LOL

Stay SPlendid!

Theories about the wheel...

Thursday, February 25, 2010

The Spark People Wheel, that is. I have two, which I will now explain to you in great detail. That's great as in wonderful, awesome, outstanding. Not great as in lots of details. emoticon

First theory...if you spin the wheel last, after you've done everything else to earn Spark Points, you will get more points. I have proved that this theory is true on many occasions. There are days when I have very few points from other activities, I spin the wheel and get 1 point. Other days, I get as many as I can and then get the top prize, sometimes as many as 25 points! Unfortunately, I've also proved this theory wrong when the exact opposite happens. emoticon Not ready to say this one is busted though. More study is required.

The second theory is that if you add up all of the points you've ever gotten off the wheel and divide by the number of times you've spun the wheel, the number will be three. Three is the most common number (it seems like anyway). If you win one of the 500 Spark Point prizes (for Goodies), you get three points. One plus five, divided by two equals three. Same with 4+2...I have neither proved nor disproved this theory. Mostly because it would require that I keep a running tab of how many points I get each time I spin the wheel. Not that I'm opposed to that! I LOVE stuff like this and Excel is awesome for it. In fact, I'm composing what the spreadsheet would look like as I'm typing this. And it includes both theories!! I'm brilliant!!

Anyway, back to why I haven't done it yet. I keep forgetting. Hard to track trends if you can't remember what they are! LOL! emoticon

BTW...I got three points on the wheel today.

How about that the wheel is a contrary little bugger that likes to mess with your mind? Like stopping on the 1 that's right next to the 20 four times out of five?

LOL Man, I thought *I* was a numbers person... that one is beyond even me! But I think I will test out your first theory about waiting till you've done everything else first. I'm sick of getting 1s and 2s when there's a 20 or 25 right next to it!!

In all honesty, I found this VERY interesting and have to concur. I, too, have noticed the odd phenomenon of the getting a lot of points thus getting a big spin! And I, TOO, have noticed three is the common number. Hmmm...would love to see your spreadsheet when it is finished. For real.

Did I mention that DH loves the dog more than me?

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

He has always wanted a bulldog or a boxer puppy. His mom had one when he was a teen and he loved that dog. So, a few months ago (almost a year now), he brought home Abby, a boxer. She is an adorable puppy and is very much a puppy! And, apparently will be for another three to four years (or maybe ten?). My DH LOVES that dog! If she looks like she might be cold, he'll cuddle her (in a manly way, of course!) to get her warm. If she is sick, he is the first to notice. I think he "notices" her ailments even when she doesn't have any! If she gets in trouble (by me), it's only because she's misunderstood! LOL!

This last Sunday, I was hobbling around something fierce. I had done Day One, Level One of JM's 30-day Shred. I should have known better because Jillian ALWAYS kicks my butt and I am sore for days after. But, I did it anyway. DH asked me no less than three times what was wrong with me. emoticon Each time, I explained my folly. Each time, he seemed to listen. Each time, he really hadn't.

Later that same afternoon, he called me into the kitchen in a fairly urgent manner. Hurry up and come look at this! I hurried (as best as I could...not a pretty sight!) to see what was so important. Yep. Abby had a few bumps on her butt, an allergic reaction to something. She wasn't scratching or whining or complaining in any way. In fact, she was sunning herself and had probably been asleep before she heard Daddy say her name. The rest of the afternoon, DH kept a sharp eye on Abby to make sure she didn't get any worse. He also remarked that she "acted sick." But couldn't remember why I was limping? Yep, she's his favorite! LOL!

One day, it might have even been Sunday, DH was working on his laptop while I was on this PC. He looked and me and asked "What's your name?" I answered "Sexy B!tch." He said, "Sexy B1tch, come here. I want to show you something." Before I could move Abby was at his feet, wagging her stump as if to say "You called?" LOL! emoticon At least she knows who and what she is! LOL!

Please note...no dogs were harmed in the making of this blog. Abby is a big sweetie who is just misunderstood!

Haha, that's cute! Yeah, we notice our dogs more than we notice each other too. I thought that was normal? emoticon

I had a boxer named Abbey a number of years ago (note the different spelling) what a great dog!! She was all white with one brown ear. She was named after the Beatles Abbey Road. She always acted like a puppy too. Got a pic to post of your Abby?

Heeheehee, not so different in my house!!
Worse, even! The dog used to be mine, used to think the sun rose and set around me, looked to me for her every need, and then Hubby moved in and stole her from me!!
But then again, she's turning into a whiney, needy pain in the butt in her old age...so he can have her!!

Mmmmm...cornbread!

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I really like cornbread. And my daughter makes really good cornbread (I taught her to triple the sugar that the recipe calls for!). Tonight, we had chili for dinner and I made sure I left enough calories for a piece of cornbread and butter. Can't have cornbread without butter!

After dinner, I went to the gym and worked off some of that food. Then I came home and I heard it....the cornbread was calling to me!! emoticon It's rude to ignore the voices in your head, so I answered. That darn cornbread told me that it wanted me to eat it!! Again, it's rude to ignore those voices, so I had a piece of cornbread. Yes, with lots of butter. I did not have the calories left for that piece (I was okay on the butter! LOL!). Or for the next piece. Or the butter on that piece. emoticon

The good news is that I stopped after that second, unplanned piece! The better news (or is that butter news?) is that I get to have some more for lunch tomorrow! Me likey cornbread!

I'd better freeze the rest of it so it stops talking to me. emoticon

BTW, I love Michelle's idea of giving the cornbread its own ringtone.

I love cornbread! I go a lot lighter on the sugar than you do, though. It's only me here, though, so I usually make it into corn muffins and freeze them.

But hot out of the oven or leftovers split, broiled for a moment and then buttered -- YUM!!!

I thought about my Grandmothers sweet cornbread just the other day while seeing a cast iron skillet at the store similar to the ones she used to cook it in. It was the absolute best. I haven't made any since starting my spark people journey. I am willing to try out splenda in place of sugar and I can't believe it's not butter, instead of butter. Freezing has worked for us with other tempting left overs! Good luck to you! emoticon

Matching ringtones to appropriate contacts

Sunday, February 21, 2010

I downloaded some free ring tones today for my phone. They have to be free cos I'm a cheap skate! I did find some really good ones. I downloaded one that sounds like cats fighting. I assigned that one to the phone that the kids use. LOL! It fits!

The next one I downloaded is an evil laugh, and it's a really good evil laugh! Since I don't ever call my own phone, I assigned that one to my DH! He will appreciate it when he hears it (he went to bed before I started downloading).

I have an old-fashioned phone tone as well. It sounds like phones did when I was growing up. For you younger folks, it's a bell sound. LOL! I'll probably assign that to my dad. emoticon

The last one I've downloaded so far is babies giggling. I'll probably end up assigning that to ALL of my daughter's friends. They all giggle so much when they are together that it just fits! Plus, that ringtone makes me smile. I love to hear babies giggling!

I'd like to get some songs that fit some of the folks I know, but those cost moolah. I'll find free stuff that works just as well.

Okay, time to stop playing and get stuff gathered for work tomorrow. Only five more wake-ups until the weekend!! LOL!!
