Did I mention that DH loves the dog more than me?

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

He has always wanted a bulldog or a boxer puppy. His mom had one when he was a teen and he loved that dog. So, a few months ago (almost a year now), he brought home Abby, a boxer. She is an adorable puppy and is very much a puppy! And, apparently will be for another three to four years (or maybe ten?). My DH LOVES that dog! If she looks like she might be cold, he'll cuddle her (in a manly way, of course!) to get her warm. If she is sick, he is the first to notice. I think he "notices" her ailments even when she doesn't have any! If she gets in trouble (by me), it's only because she's misunderstood! LOL!

This last Sunday, I was hobbling around something fierce. I had done Day One, Level One of JM's 30-day Shred. I should have known better because Jillian ALWAYS kicks my butt and I am sore for days after. But, I did it anyway. DH asked me no less than three times what was wrong with me. emoticon Each time, I explained my folly. Each time, he seemed to listen. Each time, he really hadn't.

Later that same afternoon, he called me into the kitchen in a fairly urgent manner. Hurry up and come look at this! I hurried (as best as I could...not a pretty sight!) to see what was so important. Yep. Abby had a few bumps on her butt, an allergic reaction to something. She wasn't scratching or whining or complaining in any way. In fact, she was sunning herself and had probably been asleep before she heard Daddy say her name. The rest of the afternoon, DH kept a sharp eye on Abby to make sure she didn't get any worse. He also remarked that she "acted sick." But couldn't remember why I was limping? Yep, she's his favorite! LOL!

One day, it might have even been Sunday, DH was working on his laptop while I was on this PC. He looked and me and asked "What's your name?" I answered "Sexy B!tch." He said, "Sexy B1tch, come here. I want to show you something." Before I could move Abby was at his feet, wagging her stump as if to say "You called?" LOL! emoticon At least she knows who and what she is! LOL!

Please note...no dogs were harmed in the making of this blog. Abby is a big sweetie who is just misunderstood!

Haha, that's cute! Yeah, we notice our dogs more than we notice each other too. I thought that was normal? emoticon

I had a boxer named Abbey a number of years ago (note the different spelling) what a great dog!! She was all white with one brown ear. She was named after the Beatles Abbey Road. She always acted like a puppy too. Got a pic to post of your Abby?

Heeheehee, not so different in my house!!
Worse, even! The dog used to be mine, used to think the sun rose and set around me, looked to me for her every need, and then Hubby moved in and stole her from me!!
But then again, she's turning into a whiney, needy pain in the butt in her old age...so he can have her!!

Lol. Oh that is too funny!! My husband is the same way. When he gets home, even if he's only been gone for half an hour, he gives our yellow lab hugs and baby talks to her, and then to me he's just like, "Hey." Um, but I have to admit, I think I do the same thing!!! emoticon

    You are a RIOT!

But I know what and where you are coming from. I might copy and paste your blog and change only the dog name and change DH to DW and I'll have a wonderful blog, hee hee.

The last thing that I tried "shred" was shredded wheat or shredded pork. I can't imagine trying JM.

Have a great day and have fun with Ms. Abby and DH.
Patiently waiting for the next episode of "As the World Turns" LOL

That just goes to show that your DH and my DH are related. Men! LOL! Anyways, I do have to comment that you are much braver than I am to attempt to do ANY kind of work-out that has the word "SHRED" in it. Hey, wait a minute...I've done that the last three days! I've watched my grandtwins shred just about everything in their paths and I've shredded my butt trying to keep up with them!

Wait a minute...this is YOUR blog. Or Abby's. OH, I'M SOOOO CONFUSED!!

emoticon

Anyways, I hope you get to feeling better soon...I still think you're pretty wonderful...

Mmmmm...cornbread!

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I really like cornbread. And my daughter makes really good cornbread (I taught her to triple the sugar that the recipe calls for!). Tonight, we had chili for dinner and I made sure I left enough calories for a piece of cornbread and butter. Can't have cornbread without butter!

After dinner, I went to the gym and worked off some of that food. Then I came home and I heard it....the cornbread was calling to me!! emoticon It's rude to ignore the voices in your head, so I answered. That darn cornbread told me that it wanted me to eat it!! Again, it's rude to ignore those voices, so I had a piece of cornbread. Yes, with lots of butter. I did not have the calories left for that piece (I was okay on the butter! LOL!). Or for the next piece. Or the butter on that piece. emoticon

The good news is that I stopped after that second, unplanned piece! The better news (or is that butter news?) is that I get to have some more for lunch tomorrow! Me likey cornbread!

I'd better freeze the rest of it so it stops talking to me. emoticon

Fresh baked bread talks to me the same way. Which is a great excuse not to make it anymore!

BTW, I love Michelle's idea of giving the cornbread its own ringtone.

hmmm...I really like cornbread too, though it doesn't usually speak to me.
Perhaps because I make it in muffin form and immediatley freeze up all but what I need for the current meal...Being wrapped up in the freezer must muffle the voice, lol.

You gave me a big chuckle when that CB was talking to you, LMAO

I like CB too, but I don't think it has ever talked to me, maybe I should open my ears!

Is that your only trick, to triple the sugar? My mom used to make it with creamed corn in it and that is STILL my favorite recipe

Have a great day
I won't bother you at lunch, cause I'm not ready for the CB to yell at ME!

I love cornbread! I go a lot lighter on the sugar than you do, though. It's only me here, though, so I usually make it into corn muffins and freeze them.

But hot out of the oven or leftovers split, broiled for a moment and then buttered -- YUM!!!

I thought about my Grandmothers sweet cornbread just the other day while seeing a cast iron skillet at the store similar to the ones she used to cook it in. It was the absolute best. I haven't made any since starting my spark people journey. I am willing to try out splenda in place of sugar and I can't believe it's not butter, instead of butter. Freezing has worked for us with other tempting left overs! Good luck to you! emoticon

Call of the Cornbread, LOL , Now the question? Is it southern or Northern Cornbread.... You did say triple the sugar so I will hazard a guess at Northern Cornbread.... Now as to the voices in your head...Rutrow, LoL

Matching ringtones to appropriate contacts

Sunday, February 21, 2010

I downloaded some free ring tones today for my phone. They have to be free cos I'm a cheap skate! I did find some really good ones. I downloaded one that sounds like cats fighting. I assigned that one to the phone that the kids use. LOL! It fits!

The next one I downloaded is an evil laugh, and it's a really good evil laugh! Since I don't ever call my own phone, I assigned that one to my DH! He will appreciate it when he hears it (he went to bed before I started downloading).

I have an old-fashioned phone tone as well. It sounds like phones did when I was growing up. For you younger folks, it's a bell sound. LOL! I'll probably assign that to my dad. emoticon

The last one I've downloaded so far is babies giggling. I'll probably end up assigning that to ALL of my daughter's friends. They all giggle so much when they are together that it just fits! Plus, that ringtone makes me smile. I love to hear babies giggling!

I'd like to get some songs that fit some of the folks I know, but those cost moolah. I'll find free stuff that works just as well.

Okay, time to stop playing and get stuff gathered for work tomorrow. Only five more wake-ups until the weekend!! LOL!!

Finally!! A new computer!!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Happy Days are here again!!! My DH got tired of waiting for our other PC to get fixed (lots and lots of issues, dying hard drive, etc.) and we went looking for a new PC tonight. We are now proud owners of a a brand new Asus 6GB Hard Drive PC, including a huge flat screen monitor!! The new keyboard is very slick...literally! My fingers keep slipping off of the keys! LOL!

I love having a PC again!! I can Spark with all my friends so much easier! I've been using my I-Phone to Spark and I can't just click on my friends to go visit their pages. I learned lots of neat tricks to be able to get there! Now I can forget them all! LOL! Oh, and I have to learn to capitalize on my own again. If I miss one, sorry!

Okay, time to install some antivirus stuff, check the laundry and then get to bed. Yiiippppppeeeeeee!!!!!

Not the mommy time!

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Both of my children are spending the night at friends' houses tonight! Yippee! DH decided that it didn't make sense to cook dinner after dropping off the boy and before he had to go get our taxes done, so he took me to Johnny Carinos. Sometimes that man has his head on straight! LOL!

After dinner, he went to take care of taxes and I came home. An hour and a half of me time! After he came home (yes, we're getting a refund!), I headed to the gym. The best part is that I will have the house to myself in the morning too!! I can sleep in, go to the gym, try out Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred (reminder - take measurements), or go out to breakfast...or all of the above!! Sweet bliss! LOL!

BTW, update on yesterday's blog. I slept on the couch and apparently didn't snore at all. I've been given a second chance and will be allowed in the bed tonight! I did tell him that if I started snoring to kick me out. He asked "Onto the floor?". Give the man an inch...

Okay, bed time again. Gotta get to bed so I can enjoy my solitary morning.

HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!! Hope your night and day were all you wanted them to be and that you are feeling better! Nice to hear that a man knows how to treat a lady out to a nice dinner once in a while. I have a feeling you're a pretty lucky lady too. Not to say that he shouldn't consider himself extremely blessed with a woman like you!! You've got it more together than any woman, mother or wife that I know. Okay enough of that. Tomorrow will be time to get up off that couch and get moving! LOL!! Take care and enjoy your weekend.
