Falling a little behind...

Monday, December 07, 2009

A few days ago, I wrote the following goals.

By December 6th, I will have lost two pounds (132)
By December 20th, I will be down another two pounds (130)
By January 3rd, I will have maintained (130)
By January 17th, I will have gotten another two pounds off (128)
By January 31st, I will be at my new goal!! (126)

Hmmm...I missed the first goal by two pounds. In other words, I maintained. Which really isn't that bad seeing as how I was over my calorie range EVERY day last week! Yesterday I had a "poor me" day and ate over 3000 calories. Yeah...not heading in the right direction there!

So...back on track today. Didn't go to the gym this morning, but am going to tomorrow. Also plan to shovel the walk before I head out. At least attempt to shovel. It snowed last night so I'm sure most of my driveway and sidewalk are ice patches now instead of just snow. Oh well...more exertion = more calories burned!

New goals...

I got this! emoticon

It's never too late to make new goals. You had a bad week and went over in your calorie range. Probably not the first time and won't be the last. You can do it! Get back on the bandwagon and stick to those calorie ranges! Treat yourself in other ways besides food. I saw some good suggestions in KERYYMONIQUE's post. They all sound wonderful to me! We are all here to cheer you on and root for you! Rah-Rah-Rah!! emoticon emoticon

It's okay to get a little behind... just regroup and refocus(as you are)!! Next time you have a "poor me" day, spoil yourself, but try doing it without food. Go shopping, watch a movie, take a bubble bath... give yourself the comfort you want without food.

I believe in you!!! You are so close to your goal, don't let it slip from your fingertips emoticon

It is really hard this time of year with all of the extra food around and things to do. Good luck in meeting your goals!

Wrapping is a wrap!

Sunday, December 06, 2009

I know...corny title, but I had to do it! (Evil Barbara made me! LOL!)

I shut myself in my bedroom with the presents, the paper, tape and labels. I added a soda and watched the movie "The 12 Men of Christmas" while I wrapped. Got everything I've bought so far wrapped and under the tree. AND, I put everything away.

Just gotta figure out what to get the in-laws. They don't need anything and they buy anything they want. But, if we don't get them something, we are properly expressing our love. Wish me luck!!

Wow, you amaze me! Wanna come over and help me wrap??? Life has been really crazy!

How about a gift certificate to dinner for the in-laws? OR concert tickets?

Good luck!

Well I watched the 12 Men of Christmas also, but didn't wrap any presents. Guess I'll do that tonight now that you put the thought into my head.

You are amazing. Having everything wrapped. I talk about it but haven't done anything about it yet. All the gifts are stuffed in my bedroom closet.

In-Laws are tough. I got my father-in-law (who's in his early 70's) a subscription to Reminisce magazine for the last 3 years. He loves it. If you've never read one you should check it out. It's only about $15.00 a year for 6 issues. Just go to reminisce.com if you are the least bit interested.

For my folks I get them a gift card to one of their favorite restaurants because they have everything they could possibly ever need and really don't like anything else I buy them. Good luck.

The one thing that stood out the most to me in your blog was the "12 Men of Christmas." Mmmmm, sounds delightful...care to share? Lol...

Well, at least you got started. My husband has mine wrapped...well, yeah, it's wrapped but he couldn't find the tape so he GLUED them shut. Yeah, it's like that around here...alot of improvisation. Can't wait to show him what I can do with his. Anyone got a stapler?

Take care!

Did you know that 5:30 is an hour earlier than 6:30?

Saturday, December 05, 2009

And if you show up at 6:30 when everyone else was there at 5:30, you miss the parade? emoticon emoticon Oopsies! My kids were disappointed and I felt bad that they were going to miss out on the parade. But part of me was pretty darn happy to get back in that warm truck (took DH's truck since he has a heater!) and go back to my warm house. Maybe we'll try again next year.

The good news is that I have been working on my Christmas cards and am up to the S's already. Unfortunately, most of my relatives have last names that start with T. emoticon I'll get them done tonight, but gum! Well, I'll get them all signed and addressed. DH didn't make it to the post office (he forgot) so I can't stamp them all. And there are at least two that I know I need their new addresses.

Got some more Christmas shopping done today. Tomorrow, I'll shut myself in my room with boxes and bags and wrapping paper and pull out everything I've gotten so far. I'll compare what I got for each kid to ensure that I've been fair. Then I will wrap the stuff for the tree and stash the stuff for the stockings and cross my fingers that I am done shopping except for a few stocking stuffers.

I got a small sense of panic yesterday, because I only have one gift purchased and that's because I bought it in October and stashed it away. I don't even have a clue what to get people this year. OMG. Should I start running around like a chicken with its head cut off yet? Breath in. Breath out. Still 19 days to decide.

WTG on being on top of the ball this year!

I guess you learn something new everyday. I had no idea that 5:30 was an hour earlier than 6:30. Who knew?

I quit doing Xmas cards a long time ago, just too lazy to do all that work knowing that someone is just going to throw it away. I will however, be locking myself in my room to do the wrapping and inventory to make sure I have been fair to all the grandkids. The only ones I haven't shopped for are my son and daughter that live a long distance away. I want to just get them a gift card but hubby doesn't like that idea. But then again he also doesn't want to go out and do any shopping.

Sorry you missed the parade, I guess? Hope the kids will forgive you.

My curling iron EXPLODED!!!

Friday, December 04, 2009

Okay, so there was a tiny little pop and a quick flash of light. But it did surprise me and my curling iron was not working anymore. Being the practical woman I am, I unplugged my curling iron (in case there was a short) and finished curling my hair before all of the heat dissipated from the iron! LOL! Hey, it was hot, my hair was striaght. What else should I have done?

Anyway, as I was heading into work, the enginerdy part of me took over. I thought "Since the curling iron is ruined anyway, I can take it apart and see if I can fix it." Yay me! I like taking stuff apart and seeing how it works. Worst case, my curling iron still won't work and I'll get the chance to see what a curling iron looks like on the inside. Best case...I fix my curling iron! Not really counting on that, but hey, it could happen.

After I get home from the gym, I go to take a shower and turn on the radio so I can rock out to some tunes. My radio doesn't work. Hmmmm. That's the same outlet that my curling iron was plugged into. Push reset...reset won't push....hmmmm. Go to the other bathroom (it's on the same circuit) and test my daughter's radio. It doesn't work. Hmmmm...push reset again. This time it pushes, but still nothing works. Hmmm...sounds like a fuse popped. So I send the kids out (messy garage, lots of climbing involved) to check the fuse box. The find the right one, reset it and VOILA! My daughter's radio turns on. I go into my bathroom and plug in my curling iron. It worked. emoticon Dang it! I don't get to tear it apart! Bummer...

Maybe it really will explode tomorrow! There's a happy thought! LOL!

OMG you are to funny. I work with a bunch of engineers and they are always doing the same thing. Their most recent was taking apart the old coffee machine - believing they could fix it, despite the fact that I told them it still worked but had a crack in the housing for the water and that was why I threw it out.

Sorry you didn't get to take apart the curling iron - no worries it should die sometime in the next 20 years or so. LOL

My first though when I saw your title was ..I can't live with out my curling iron (ahh vanity) so Woo Hoo for using the heat while you had it..I used to cause hair dryers to catch on fire and die fairly frequently but knock on wood we've been good for a long time now...My question is what caused the breaker to trip in the first place? Ignore that and you may be able to take that sucker apart fairly soon.

    Thanks for the great laugh.
I think you should take the damn thing apart.
Throw caution to the winds.

Stress did NOT win out today!

Thursday, December 03, 2009

I walked into a royal mess at work today. Okay, so it wasn't really a big mess, but the boss' boss' boss got involved, so it got to be a LOT more important really quickly. I spent the entire day getting our story straight to tell folks outside of our department. Because of the timing, I didn't have lunch until 2:00 (breakfast was at 7:00!).

I did eat an apple and string cheese around 10. Then I started getting hungry and really had to wait for an answer before I could eat my lunch. So, I ate my carrots while I was waiting. And I had five peanuts. When I finally made it to lunch, all I had left was a sandwich and I was HUNGRY! So, I bought some chips. But I did good...I had the Baked Doritos not the full fat ones that were calling my name!

Came home, made dinner and very purposely used the small plate for mine. Ate that and felt like having a cookie. I logged all of my food to see how many calories I had left. Seventeen. No cookie worth eating has only 17 calories. emoticon

So, I did not eat my cookie. BUT...I was in range for calories today!! First time in five days! So, neener neener stress! I won! Bring it on!! No, wait, don't bring it on. I will retire victorious! LOL!
