Four days with no Diet Pepsi and no deaths to report!

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Let me start by saying, I like Diet Pepsi. I like the caffeine, I like the taste, I like the fizz. DP is my friend! LOL! I have ignored my friend for four days and it almost killed me! The cravings were strong (still are!), but I'm going to make it. No way am I going to have a DP now and ruin an entire day of no DP. Tomorrow, on the other hand, is a different story! LOL! I plan to have my soda, but not as much as I had five days ago. We'll see how that goes. emoticon

I was a Diet Coke addict. I had to go off them per doctors orders when I had a bladder infection in March of '08. The withdrawal was so bad that I will NEVER go back to them. Caffeine free is the way to be. emoticon

I am a recovering diet coke-aholic. I used to drink a six pack a day when it was warm out. I haven't had any since Oct. 1. It does get easier the longer you are 'off it'. emoticon

I too was a closet DP-aholic. With the right counseling you can be free, too. LOL

Big plans for tomorrow!

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Okay, not really. I am taking the day off to take my son to the doctor. I'm expecting to hear that he is also allergic (or at least sensitive to) corn in addition to his gluten allergy. Already mentally sorting my recipes to determine what he could still eat if that's true.

Tomorrow is election day for some local races. I plan to go vote...if I can figure out where my polling place is! LOL! I know where it is for "regular" elections, but am not sure if they are going to have the same places open for a smaller election.

Thought about asking one of my friends to go to lunch with me. Unfortunately, I have not asked yet and she is more of a planner than I am! I may still ask but will totally understand if she is unable/unwilling to go. Last minute stuff can really mess up your day!

Told DH that I'm taking the day off so he volunteered me to take the kids to school. Ain't he the sweetest? LOL! I'll probably do it, just to give him a break. Even tho son has a two-minute walk (three if he dawdles). DH has spoiled those kids! The good thing is that it will get me out of the house and to the gym early so I have time for other stuff.

Other stuff...like practicing commands with my boxer Abby. We are supposed to graduate from puppy training on Wednesday and we can only do that if she passes certain tests. That may or may not happen. Wish us luck!!

And to end the day on the right note? I'm going to watch The Biggest Loser!! My favorite show! Okay, really the only show that I insist on watching. Can't wait to see how horribly Tracey acts this week and who will annoy me! LOL!

Sounds like a great day! I can't believe that she has not been kicked out yet! That is also one tv show that I watch too. Enjoy your day and I hope you get it all accomplished and that your puppy can graduate! It would be really bad for his morale if he fails!

Day 2 no Diet Pepsi

Sunday, November 01, 2009

One of the teams I am on is having a weekly challenge. The challenge is to avoid white potatoes, white bread, white rice, etc. for two of the seven days. No problem there. The other is to avoid alcohol and soda for four out of the seven days. Since I'm not much of an imbiber, the alcohol portion is no big deal either. However, Diet Pepsi is my caffeine source of choice. I don't drink coffee and tea only has a small portion of the caffeine that soda and coffee do. PLUS, I like Diet Pepsi! It tastes good!

Well, I decided to take the challenge...mostly on days that I don't work. I started yesterday (Saturday) and will continue through Tuesday. As I only have to get up early one of those days (Monday), I think I can do this. Plus, I'm heading to bed early tonight...I hope. It hasn't been too bad yet, going without. Definitely want one...right NOW! But, can handle not having one.

Two more days!

Today will probably be the toughest since it's your second day. After that it will only get easier! That's how it was for me when I gave up Diet Coke a while back. Trust me, it's better for you... Google the effects those chemicals and sweeteners have on your body if you want to know!

You can do this!! Diet sodas are my major vice and I know it would be a challenge to go without. But it is doable...

Barb, you can do this sister!!!!! I am on day 15 of the self-imposed no soft drink thang....so far, only one minor desire came a calling and I pushed back...I am not saying that I won't drink again, but I want to give myself some distance in this battle before I down the diet pepsi!

WOrse case scenario, buy headgear like the boxers wear in case you start shaking your way into walls...you'll be ok!

Trade you a Now-N-Later for....

Saturday, October 31, 2009

something chocolate! My kids each have a friend over and they all went trick-or-treating together. They went to EVERY house in our subdivision plus the one next to us (only if the light was on, of course!). They made a HAUL!!!

DH and I sorted the candy and threw out anything that looked questionable. My son is doing the extra sort to get rid of any candy that has gluten in it. All of them are now sorting, trading and basically be little barterers! LOL!! The girls will only trade for chocolate! Good girls!! LOL!

As for me, I have done very well. Two challenges from Spark Teams had me forgoing both Diet Pepsi (UGH!) and refined sugar. The no-Diet Pepsi is for four days total, the no refined sugar is just today (can you say cruel?). LOL! I am taking my Halloween tax from the kids so I can overdose on refined sugar tomorrow! LOL!!

No refined sugar for you - don't you remember that is NOT GOOD for you. There should be a rule that only icky stuff should be given out at all time and we all would be doing just great.

JUST KIDDING of course! I did absolutely great and that's because Halloween is not a holiday around here and nobody bothers about Tricking or Treating. emoticon

After we finished trick or treating I did my inspection of the candy and then we did a sort of anything they wouldn't eat and it got distributed out to trick or treaters that came to our house! We also gave out odds and ends that have accumlated here that nobody likes. At least we managed to get rid of all the icky stuff!

Morning Workouts are HARD!

Friday, October 30, 2009

I know, I know...wahhh, wahhh, whine, whine! emoticon But that's the way I feel! LOL!

I had an appointment to get my hair cut and colored (first time in 8 months!) this afternoon. I generally work out after work. For those of you who don't color, it's generally not a good idea to wash your hair right after you get it done. For those of you who don't work out, your hair generally needs washed after a work out! LOL!! Anyway...to make sure I still got in my workout AND got my hair done, I decided to work out this morning. emoticon

For me, that means getting up at 4:20 in order to have time to workout and make it to work on time. As I laid down to sleep, I visualized myself getting up, getting dressed and getting to the gym. Amazingly, it worked! Or something did! LOL!! I actually got up and went to the gym at oh-dark-thirty! I got on the elliptical, set my normal settings, my normal time, my normal machine. When I finished, I had burned more than 100 calories less than what the machine normally says AND gone almost a full mile less!

I will admit, the elliptical did seem harder to get moving today than normal. And now I know why. They reset the rubber bands in the elliptical every night, so they're wound tighter in the morning. By the time I get there in the evening, the rubber bands have stretched back out! LOL! Either that, or I am not a morning person....Nahhh, can't be that! LOL!

Heehee....love the rubber band theory, but since I do strength routines with free weights, I guess I can't use that one for why I just cant seem to work as hard in the morning.
So I guess I'm back to the lousy mattress, older bones theory of morning stiffness and lack of omphfff!!

I am totally buying the rubber bands theory! It explains so much! I think they also tighten up the bikes, too...
Great job on getting your butt there and getting it done, though!
