My neck hurts (just started about an hour ago). Thought I would have more time to get stuff done...I was wrong! Really tired and I need to go pack my lunch for tomorrow and then head to bed. See you all on the flip side.

The oddest dreams occur....

when your sleeping habitat is changed.

Let's start with the fact that the fan on our air conditioner was making some odd noises on Saturday morning. We have central air and someone had changed the switch for the fan to on instead of auto. (No wonder I was always cold!) Because of the funky noises...and not wanting to completely ruin the unit...we turned the air off. The house was warmer than normal, but not too bad...the first day.

The second day, Sunday, DH was home. He's not as fond of fresh air as I am so the windows weren't open as much on Sunday. In fact, I came home at 8:30 at night (after my workout) and the house was shut up tight and HOT! And if I'm hot, it is HOT!!! I opened doors and windows, but not much could be done to cool down our bedroom...or so I thought.

DH brought in an industrial fan, plugged it in and turned it on high. I'm here to tell you that industrial fans are loud and can pump out the breeze! I slept very poorly for the first couple of hours (until I turned that darn thing off!). During that time, I had some strange dreams. The one I remember most vividly involved our boxer, Abby. She and I were playing a game, most likely tug/fetch. I tug on a toy until she lets go. Then I throw it and she fetches, repeat. Anyway, in my dream, she had a tongue like a frog. It was long and thin and would get wrapped around her head during our game. In fact, it would wrap onto itself and get stuck! I would need to unstick her tongue, kind of like Velcro. As soon as it was unstuck, her tongue would snap back into her mouth (like a tape measure) and we would start all over!

I'm sure there is some great meeting hidden there, but I'm too tired to figure it out. Let's just say, I'm glad the air conditioner is fixed and we won't have the industrial fan on tonight!

I kicked some butt yesterday and today! Yesterday I worked out, started laundry, cleaned myself up, made chocolates for Bunco, went to the library and got my son to his game at noon (a 30-minute drive away!). Watched his team win their first game this season!!! (Even without an actual win, this was the best game they played yet!). Got home, completed laundry, worked on stuff for DH and then headed to Bunco (didn't win), came home, sparkled folks and got my daughter from the dance (yes, she had a blast) and went to bed.

Today, took Scooby for his grooming appointment, ate breakfast at a buffet and did NOT need to puke afterward (usually feel the need!), made menus and my grocery list and headed to the store. Picked up Scooby, came home, made lunch and started working on more stuff for DH. Made dinner, went to the gym and have one more thing to do and I can go to bed! Yay me!!! I've accomplished everything I set out to do this weekend. How incredibly cool is that!!! I don't know if it is because I kicked butt or because I set my expectations too low. Either way, I'll take it!!! LOL!

Counting fiber worked...until it didn't!

Okay, so counting my fiber grams did work very well. It's when I went out to Bunco and started eating all the yummy treats there that my plan fell to pieces! When you are faced with bread rounds and yummy dip, cookies, candies, chips and salsa, chips and get the idea. It's hard to stay focused! So, I didn't!

Tomorrow will be better.

On a positive note...even tho I didn't win the money at Bunco tonight, I did get the last Bunco! I got the hostess gift...a very nice bath set. Hmmmm....maybe I have something I need to do!

Track Fiber instead of Calories?

Today, the teacher of my Nutrition Boot Camp class said something interesting today. She said that if you were working on getting all of the fiber in that you should (25 grams for women, 35 grams for men), you would have a very healthy diet. Getting that kind of fiber does not allow room for all of the junk that most of us eat on a regular basis. (So maybe I shouldn't assume you all eat junk, but I can say that I definitely do!)

My thought was that I should try basing my food decisions off of it's fiber content instead of calories. That is an entirely different way of looking at things and will take some doing. I'm going to ease into it tomorrow and really focus on it starting on Sunday. That gives me a little bit of time to reconfigure my brain to fiber instead of calories.

I'll let you know how that goes.

On a separate (but related) subject, I read in one of my magazines that if you take a picture of your food before you eat it, you would eat less. It's like a nutrition tracker, but with pictures. Has anyone tried this? Did it work? Would you try it? Still thinking about this one...

    Definitely! I struggle SO MUCH to get my fiber in, yet am always at the upper end of my calories. Coincidence? I think not. I eat a little bit of crappy foods and not a-lotta bit of healthy dark greens!!! I've only been in fiber 4 days this month. And some weren't even in the ballpark. bad, I know.

    ok, on my soapbox, fiber is amazing...i have never heard the breakdown between the nutritionist who made fiber interesting for me preaches 35 daily....

Did you know that only 1 out of every 9 of us eats the recommended grams of fiber per day? Yet, it is so easy to incorporate into a diet....

I still count calories though because I guarantee you I can fit my 35 grams PLUS a brownie, some chips and a cookie and still stay within my range.

I'm funny that way!
