Okay...so I messed with the schedule. But, I'm on vacation, so that's allowed! LOL! The kids and I headed to the Ice Caves today. It took 2 1/2 hours to get there and another 2 1/2 hours back. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there. But, the kids had fun, so it was worth it. We made it back in plenty of time for daughter's 3:00 volleyball practice, so no stress there either. Oh, and for you unseasoned travelers, here's a little tip. Do NOT eat refried beans the night before a really long car trip. You seasoned travers know what I'm talking about !! LOL!
Here are some pics.
My son and his cousin at dinner last night. Scary how much they look (and act!) alike!
Face in the rocks at the Ice Caves.
One of the collapsed portions of the tunnels near the ice caves.
My son and I in front of the HUGE Indian!
My daughter and I "voguing" in front of the Indian. Or maybe we were being gangstas! I can never tell the difference!! LOL!
Donna, these are for you! The stalactite (stalagmite??) on the left weighs all of 10 pounds! The one on the right is about 6 pounds. They are full of air-filled lava. They are about three feet high...so only an inch or so shorter than me! LOL!
Lots of fun, but tiring. Need a nap or two now! Tomorrow...football pictures! They are so cute in their little helmets. Tee hee!!

My big brother went camping in the mountains in Idaho for the past week. He's staying the night in town before driving home to Washington. Since he was in town, my family and I met him and his family and my mom (okay, our mom, but I'm her favorite...daughter...named Barbara....only daughter) for dinner. Went to a very good Mexican restaurant and ate the whole meal. Yeah, too much.
After dinner, we went back to their hotel and let the kids swim in the pool. It was only 70'F, so WAY to cold to swim, but what do I know! Kids had a blast!
We came home a little early so that we could get to bed early. Going to the Ice Caves tomorrow. It's a long drive and we have to be back by 3:00 for practices. Should be a good day!

But I am not missing it back!! Today was my last day of work until Monday the 24th!
Of course, the day couldn't go smoothly. I work in a manufacturing plant that has been going through downsizing of people and upsizing of builds. (Did you know that causes resource conflicts?) Because we have fewer people and more work, we have to play priority wars. It's like thumb wars but not really. Yesterday, I lost the thumb...I mean priority...war. No biggie. I lose all of the time. BUT (and that's a big BUT!), the deal was that I would win this morning. That's not quite how it happened.
Production (I work in Engineering...no, I am not exactly like Dilbert. He's electrical, I'm mechanical.) had taken the machine that my process guy had scheduled and they were running some very low priority stuff. Just as they were finishing, the boss of the production and engineering folks (but not my boss) told them to run something else. Again, not the winner of the priority war (cos, remember, that's me right now!)!!! I did what any other professional engineer/project manager would do. I tattled to my boss! (Yeah, the big boss who butted in line got in trouble from the bigger boss)
Eventually my stuff was ran through the line...wrong. The really bad part was that it was my fault!!! I totally told them to run it one way and I was wrong, wrong, wrong!!! While I was trying to figure out how to save my fubar, another snafu occurred...we ruined some other product. Again! Two days in a row we had the same error at the same step and we still don't know why. Of course, my job is to tell corporate all of the bad news. The guy I needed to talk to was out of office today, so I sent him an e-mail. Kinda the chicken way out, but I couldn't leave it for anyone else to do and it most certainly could NOT wait a week.
Anyway, the bad stuff is over and I am home and I am not going back for over a full week! Oh, and I am sleeping in tomorrow as late as I want...or 1:30 pm, whichever comes first. Have to get daughter from friend's house by 2:00. Otherwise I might not get up at all! LOL!!

A little bit of a back story first. Every day that I can, I eat my lunch on the patio outside at work. It is my time to myself to finally be warm, to be left alone and to read my book (or take a nap, depending on how the day has been). Today was no different. I sat outside and was as content as a pig in slop (at least, I hear they are really content!). Walked back inside when lunch was over, reading my book the entire trip down the halls (it's a gift that I practice daily to perfect - reading and walking that is. NO, I do not read and drive...I read and listen to books on CD! But I digress.)
The second I walked into my cube, all of my happiness, contentedness, peacefulness, blissfulness left. Poof! I felt like crying! (BTW, that's one thing I hate about being a girl...the tears! UGH! So not the way to act at work!!) I realized that it was time to make a change. If my feelings of serenity could disappear that quickly, something must be horribly wrong.
Fast forward about three hours. I have a weekly meeting with my boss' boss and a few other folks. At the end of the meeting, we were discussing the reorganization that our groups are going through and the plans being discussed. The powers-that-be are locked in a never-ending two week cycle. "We'll have something for you in a couple of weeks." Anyway, at the end, after most everyone had left, I told my boss' boss that I would like to have a different lead/supervisor when the reorg was done. He said "Okay" Really?!? That's all it took? Sweet! He did ask if there was some feedback he should ask for and it sounds like I will be giving him some later.
But, wow! A new boss!! Woo HOO!!! A billion and a half tons lifted off my shoulders! I think I will like my job again! YAHOOZERS!!!!!
