I had a really great blog about bowling with my kids. When I hit Post, I got an error and it cleared my blog! So, believe me when I say it was the best blog EVER! It was funny, touching and even pulled a tear from the most hardened heart. But, alas, it is all lost now. emoticon

Scores unimpressive all the way around
Pouting boy
Awkward girl
Fighting kids
Irritated mother
No ice cream!!

I feel for all of you for not being able to read the previous masterpiece. May your tears dry by morning.

Daughter's reaction to last blog

Sunday, July 26, 2009

So...being the sweet, loving mother that I am, I had my daughter read just the title of my last blog. She got that expression on her face that said "I can't believe this is MY mother. I am so embarrassed and I'm going to kick her my head, cos you know, she's my mom so I can't really beat her up." Yeah, she's a teen so she can say all that with just a look. Meanwhile, her mouth is saying "open it. Open it." She wants to read the whole thing. Isn't it great that my daughter is SOOO interested in my blogs! emoticon

As she was reading, she would make comments like "I'm not little, compared to you." So I told her to keep reading (Yep, the next line in my blog is about her being bigger than me!) She was laughing by the time she finished reading it. So, at least she has a good sense of humor! Oh, and she says she doesn't want to owe me one! Too bad, so sad, boo hoo! Tee hee!!!

Wish we all could have been there to see the look on her face.

It probably would have been one of those MasterCard
"Priceless" moments, LOL

My daughter so totally wants to be me!!

Friday, July 24, 2009

Or so I tell her often. She doesn't agree with me, but she is pretty darn happy with me right now. She's at the water park tonight with her friend for the friend's birthday. This morning, we went out to buy a birthday present. We also stopped at ShopKo to see if we could find some shorts to replace the ones she destroyed last week. Of course, since it is already the middle of July, only jeans and sweaters are on sale. Cos, you know, stores know best! emoticon

I told her that the best bet would be to look at clearance racks and no shorty shorts!!! Of course, the first three pairs she picks are shorty shorts. emoticon We finally find a couple of pairs that she is willing to try on. She REFUSES to leave the junior's section cos there is nuthin' cute in the "old ladies" section. Fine, whatev'! I'm not spending my money on something she won't wear. While she is in the dressing room, I keep looking for something she might like. Of course, I'll look in the "old ladies" section, cos I might find something for me! LOL!! Second or third rack I look at, what do you think I find? Yep, the exact style of shorts that she massacred earlier. Mmmm, hmmmm. Nuthin' cute in the old ladies section, huh? In your face little girl!! LOL!! (And, yeah, she's bigger than me, but she'll always be my little girl.)

Anyway...she was ECSTATIC that I found the shorts, in her size, on clearance and (and this is the best part), I was willing to pay for them! Yep, she owes me! emoticon

Next thing to save for? Football clinic for the boy ($45) and a trip to the Shoshone Ice Caves in August (probably about $100 with entrance, gas and food). I can do it!!

I have a 27, 26, 20 and 17 year old...been there, done that and I'M SO SO TIRED!! But believe it or not, oddly, you will miss these times. Kids are just so youngest is going away to OSU next year and I just know I'm going to be a basket-case. Funny thing, my youngest doesn't argue with me over clothes that much...but she HAS been begging me for a nose piercing and 'snake bites' on her bottom lip. Can I cry? Just a little bit?

You sound like you have a great family, Barbara. You're pretty awesome!

Why is it that kids never want to hear that mommies DO know best? emoticon I used to have such battles with my son when he was in his early-to-mid teens over clothing (wearing your jeans halfway sagging off of your butt is NOT attractive my dear son) and his funky-smelling sneakers emoticon...I'm convinced that 1/2 of my grey hairs are thanks to the grief he gave me.

You have a great disposition, raising children is no easy feat!

Have a great day! Lady T.

    See Barbara,
That was better than that old stinkin' movie, LOL
Also glad to hear that you got her some ol' lady shorts to replace the ones that she destroyed on the bicycle accident. You BOTH were very lucky by her not getting more injuries.

Kudos to you, but you already knew that YOU ROCK

Have a great weekend

Harry Potter or G.A. McKevett?

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Tomorrow night, daughter is going to a water park with her best friend for a birthday party. DH has mentioned taking son to the "Hottest Movie of the Summer"! (Which, I guess, is Harry Potter.) I have not officially been invited to join the boys and I am having an internal debate about whether I want to be.

Pros of being invited:

Spend time with DH and son
See HP movie (like the books, movies are ok)

Pros of not:
I get to stay home by myself!
I could read
I would be home with only the dogs
I could Spark people with no interruptions
I would be alone
I could read

So, what do you think? Which option is better? Hmmmmm..... emoticon

LOL, I figured that you would NOT go to the movies with the boys and make'em pay for not inviting you. Would that not be the way I should have expected things to go. LMAO

Good luck either way, can't say that my way would be the best either.

But I would definitely be interested in your final decision. I kinda sound like that game show, "Is that your final answer?" LOL

PS - I did not mean to double post! The stupid program kept telling me to remove the profanity from my post - there wasn't any, so in trying to figure out what the HECK (let's see if it will allow that!) was going on, I somehow managed to post twice.

I just LOVE computers! (Insert sarcastic tone there) Is it just me, or are computers kind of smug?? It seems like they're always acting like they know it all, even when they're wrong! Sounds like a couple people I know!

Crikey! What a day!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 started out normally. Meeting at 8:30. Ten minutes into it, I get a page to see the e-mail and mtg notice for 9:00. Okay, fine. Leave 1st mtg, read e-mail, go to 2nd mtg. That one lasts a little over an hour and (of course) I get action items! It is now 10:20 and I have 40 minutes to do my "regular" work. Eleven o'clock, new mtg, lasts until one. Really fast lunch...more "regular" work. Three o'clock mtg, lasts until four. Regular work, 4:30 mtg. Lasts until after five. All mtgs (except the 8:30 one) was with the same group of people. Corporate needed info today for a mtg tomorrow. Can you say "Short Notice"? emoticon

Of course, I get home late and guess what?!? No, no one started dinner. I was hoping. I mean, that's what the menu is for, right? More running around to get dinner on and get ready for softball practice. I guess it's a good thing that practice was cut short (only two of us showed). Now I can get the rest of my work done so I can do it all again tomorrow! emoticon

I'm beginning to believe they expect me to do nothing but go to meetings during the day, and then do all my work at night, for free. It's an interesting new paradigm.

LOL, Barbara, Sounds like someone needs to delegate. You don't have to do EVERYTHING do you?

Have a GREAT day!

Then again, you could always let the battery go dead on the cell or pager, whatever your method of contact is, LOL!
