The new puppy has the worst timing!!!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

As I've mentioned before, DH and I take the dogs for a walk every night. The boxer is a puppy and has TONS of energy. If she doesn't get her walk, she's just like a little kid on sugar. emoticon

Tonight, DH asked if I could walk the boxer and have one of the kids walk the little dog. He has a blister on his bad foot and didn't think he should push it by walking again tonight. No problem. Daughter and I take the dogs for a walk.

Now, the rule is (at least for us) if your dog poops, you scoop. As a rule, the sheetzu/papillion mix (sorry for the spelling, don't know how to spell one and the system doesn't like the other one!) poops every walk. Yep, he's the one I generally walk. Today, daughter walked him since he is smaller and easier to control. Yep, you guessed it, the boxer pooped almost at the beginning of the walk! Aargghhhh!!! I scooped, but then I had to carry a bag full of smelly, squishy poop to the next trash can. Ewwwwwwww!!!!! emoticon

Tomorrow, it'll go back to "normal" I'm sure...

Last walk we went on we forgot the bag!..............and wanna know where mine pooed?
ON THE SIDEWALK! Seriously?! Actually, he's done it twice now (both times no bag....both were "impromptu walks"). And since they're his "Exercise Poo" it's all wet and gross so you can't kick it off!

Ohhhhhhhh what we do for our pets!

That is so funny. I made a bag similar to what DOSI mentioned only it has a button on top and it hangs off of the dogs leash. I don't mind picking the poop up, but man do I hate having to carry it afterward. And of course no dog in its right mind would ever dream of pooping near the house or near a convenient trash can. LOL

Funny!! I have two Shih Tzus and like that they have tiny little poops. My uncle has a nice solution for the whole smelly poo thing. He got a chalk bag that people use when mountain climbing. It's just a bag that clips to your belt or jeans or whatever, but it has a drawstring top that keeps the smell from getting out. Just scoop, tie the baggie, and stick it in the chalk bag. No more smell! :)

Good luck with your puppies! :)

OK, so really?

There is some "reorganization" going on at my work. One of the bigger changes (at least recently) is moving a packaging group back into Assembly (my department). They announced one of the new "heads" of the group last week and said they would announce the other one this week. In my head, I said "Oh, that will be John (not his real name). He has had the experience they are looking for." Remember, I thought those EXACT words (or close enough) LAST week.

So, this week, I hear that John got the job. It's not official, but that's "the word on the street" and the street has been pretty accurate lately. So, am I pretty stoked that I was right? Do I pat myself on the back for being so smart? Um, no. I'm depressed cos it wasn't me! How dumb is that!??!?!?! I know, knew, every tense of the verb know, that it wasn't going to be and that I wasn't even considered. And yet I'm bummed that I didn't get it! Intellectually, I get it. Emotionally, not so much. Sometimes it sucks to be a girl... emoticon

The only thing that I can say to cheer you up would be think of the promotion of John as fulfilling of the Peter principle.

The peter principle, for those unfamiliar with the term, is when someone is promoted to the height of their incompetence. Sounds distinctly like John! LOL

As someone who has been in your shoes and in John's shoes I say let John have the headaches. Keep your chin up you proved that you are one smart cookie and if the opportunity arises next time speak up and make sure you know you want to be considered. You are woman, hear you ROAR!

I had a really great blog about bowling with my kids. When I hit Post, I got an error and it cleared my blog! So, believe me when I say it was the best blog EVER! It was funny, touching and even pulled a tear from the most hardened heart. But, alas, it is all lost now. emoticon

Scores unimpressive all the way around
Pouting boy
Awkward girl
Fighting kids
Irritated mother
No ice cream!!

I feel for all of you for not being able to read the previous masterpiece. May your tears dry by morning.

Daughter's reaction to last blog

Sunday, July 26, 2009

So...being the sweet, loving mother that I am, I had my daughter read just the title of my last blog. She got that expression on her face that said "I can't believe this is MY mother. I am so embarrassed and I'm going to kick her my head, cos you know, she's my mom so I can't really beat her up." Yeah, she's a teen so she can say all that with just a look. Meanwhile, her mouth is saying "open it. Open it." She wants to read the whole thing. Isn't it great that my daughter is SOOO interested in my blogs! emoticon

As she was reading, she would make comments like "I'm not little, compared to you." So I told her to keep reading (Yep, the next line in my blog is about her being bigger than me!) She was laughing by the time she finished reading it. So, at least she has a good sense of humor! Oh, and she says she doesn't want to owe me one! Too bad, so sad, boo hoo! Tee hee!!!

Wish we all could have been there to see the look on her face.

It probably would have been one of those MasterCard

My daughter so totally wants to be me!!

Friday, July 24, 2009

Or so I tell her often. She doesn't agree with me, but she is pretty darn happy with me right now. She's at the water park tonight with her friend for the friend's birthday. This morning, we went out to buy a birthday present. We also stopped at ShopKo to see if we could find some shorts to replace the ones she destroyed last week. Of course, since it is already the middle of July, only jeans and sweaters are on sale. Cos, you know, stores know best! emoticon

I told her that the best bet would be to look at clearance racks and no shorty shorts!!! Of course, the first three pairs she picks are shorty shorts. emoticon We finally find a couple of pairs that she is willing to try on. She REFUSES to leave the junior's section cos there is nuthin' cute in the "old ladies" section. Fine, whatev'! I'm not spending my money on something she won't wear. While she is in the dressing room, I keep looking for something she might like. Of course, I'll look in the "old ladies" section, cos I might find something for me! LOL!! Second or third rack I look at, what do you think I find? Yep, the exact style of shorts that she massacred earlier. Mmmm, hmmmm. Nuthin' cute in the old ladies section, huh? In your face little girl!! LOL!! (And, yeah, she's bigger than me, but she'll always be my little girl.)

Anyway...she was ECSTATIC that I found the shorts, in her size, on clearance and (and this is the best part), I was willing to pay for them! Yep, she owes me! emoticon

Next thing to save for? Football clinic for the boy ($45) and a trip to the Shoshone Ice Caves in August (probably about $100 with entrance, gas and food). I can do it!!

I have a 27, 26, 20 and 17 year old...been there, done that and I'M SO SO TIRED!! But believe it or not, oddly, you will miss these times. Kids are just so youngest is going away to OSU next year and I just know I'm going to be a basket-case. Funny thing, my youngest doesn't argue with me over clothes that much...but she HAS been begging me for a nose piercing and 'snake bites' on her bottom lip. Can I cry? Just a little bit?

You sound like you have a great family, Barbara. You're pretty awesome!

Why is it that kids never want to hear that mommies DO know best? emoticon I used to have such battles with my son when he was in his early-to-mid teens over clothing (wearing your jeans halfway sagging off of your butt is NOT attractive my dear son) and his funky-smelling sneakers emoticon...I'm convinced that 1/2 of my grey hairs are thanks to the grief he gave me.

You have a great disposition, raising children is no easy feat!

Have a great day! Lady T.

    See Barbara,
That was better than that old stinkin' movie, LOL
Also glad to hear that you got her some ol' lady shorts to replace the ones that she destroyed on the bicycle accident. You BOTH were very lucky by her not getting more injuries.

Kudos to you, but you already knew that YOU ROCK

Have a great weekend
Sweet Dreams
