It's been a good day

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Got up early. Got to work a little early (no carpooler!!). Got stuff done. Came home. Walked the puppies and then headed to softball practice. Now I'm Sparkin' folks. And soon, it'll be time to fix tomorrow's breakfast and lunch and head to bed. We'll see if I feel good when the alarm goes off in the morning. emoticon

Ouch, that's gotta hurt!

Sunday, July 12, 2009

My DH sent the kids to the Chevron (about a block away) for ice cream. I know, he should have burned the calorie to get it himself, but that's a WHOLE 'nother blog! LOL! Anyway, they rode their bikes (ok, daughter took mine) to make the trip a little quicker. About two minutes after they left we get a phone call. Daughter had biffed it...big time!! Word (from her) was that she was hurt bad and bleeding and in a lot of pain.

So of course I take off in the car (I know, to go less than a block!) to go get her. As I'm pulling up, there is another car pulled up talking to my kids. It's the dad of one of my daughter's friend. He saw her fall and turned around to check on her. Nice guy, huh? So, I check on daughter and sure enough, she bit it. Cuts and scrapes on her hands, knees, elbows and, somehow, she ripped her brand new shorts right in the zipper area. I don't know how, but she did. So, yes, she was hurt, but nothing serious.

She said she called as soon as she fell. Being the sweet, loving mother I am, I asked her if she was making the phone call on her way down. "Dad, I'm faaaaaaalllllliinnnnnnngggg......Aaahhhh!" She giggled (like she was supposed to) and got in the car. I put my bike in the back of the car and took her home. After we got home, I sent her into the bathroom to clean up. I gave her the option of me cleaning her cuts or taking a shower. She jumped, and I do mean jumped!, at taking a shower. As she was starting to undress, dirt and gravel fell out of her clothes. She looked a little disheartened until I reminded her that it is her brother's turn to clean the bathroom this week. She was much happier after that. emoticon

So, overall, she's gonna be a little sore and her scrapes are gonna make her pay attention, but overall she's fine. She has no clue why she wrecked.

Oh, and the ice cream? Made the boy go get it by himself. He did fine. emoticon

"Fell of the Bike Sympathy" is one of the best forms of sympathy. Can't blame her for milking it!

Glad to hear everyone was okay and the ice cream was delivered safe and sound! Look on the bright you get to go shopping for shorts again! After all you can't expect her to wear shorts that have been patched right next to the zipper! LOL!! Have a great week!!

The new battery for my watch (not new watch for my battery! nice catch Big Dog!!) did not solve the problem. Apparently there is a little more wrong with my watch than just the battery. It may need to be cleaned, which is ~$80. emoticon

My kids are driving me nuts. Daughter keeps talking, stopping, starting again, and it's just blah blah blah! No actual thoughts. Boy keeps asking me questions. Not because he wants to know the answer, but because he thinks it's okay to stop working if he's talking to me.

They'll be going to bed soon. Yay! emoticon emoticon I mean...I love them!!! emoticon

emoticon Here's an extra kid. I'm sure the eBay auction will bring enuf to get the emoticon cleaned.

omg, that does not come out right. I'll leave it and I hope it makes you laugh. I really am sorry bout the expensive watch cleaning. $80's a bunch of money to clean anything.

Yard sale, farmer's market and jeweler, oh my!

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Okay, so the "oh my" is superfluous, but it was fun to type it (and sing it in my head! LOL) Those are my plans for the morning. I am going to get up early enough (but not TOO early) to go yard saling. I'm looking for a batting glove, maybe a new mitt (mine has lost most of it's padding), a cash box, books (always), bust specifically books 2, 3, 4 and 7 of the C.S. Lewis' series The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. When I have all seven, I'm going to reread them.

After yard saling, I'm going to swing by the local farmer's market. I really want fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. The BEST sandwich in the world is a tomato, cucumber and mayo sandwich...if the ingredients are fresh!

Then, I'll stop by the jeweler to get a new watch for my battery. The library should be open by then too and I'll do my weekly trip there. The newest Nora Roberts book is in and I get to read it first!!! Black Hills. I don't even know what it's about, but, it's Nora Roberts so it has to be good! LOL!

Sounds like you have a great day planned. And right on about the cucumber and tomato sandwiches!! My favorite too! Especially in the summer when you can get them right out of the garden still warmed by the sun! YUM-O!!! The reading sounds like fun too! And hey, you didn't do so bad at softball the other night - love your attitude! If you can't laugh, you're in serious trouble! And of course we all know that you can always LOL!!!!! Take care and have a good weekend!!

First game

Friday, July 10, 2009

My softball team's first game was tonight. We were there, warming up, watching the game before us and wondering where the team we were supposed to play was. Well, at 8:00, the other team rolled in. Excellent!! We get to play!! emoticon

First inning, their pitcher walked a bunch of us, we hit well and we ended the top of the inning up by 8. The next two innings were better for both teams (fewer walks, more hits, actual plays). Then came the last inning...we forgot how to get our mitts down. Balls took some weird hops. Close catches (okay, they were misses, but we almost caught them!). And they started hitting. We ended up losing by 3 or 4 runs. emoticon

The good news is I had fun and so did the rest of my team. I played catcher and told a couple of the guys on the other team that there is no shame in striking out. LOL!!! Luckily, they laughed too! One guy hit a pop fly behind home. I tried to catch it and my hat fell off and I missed it. Coming back to the plate, I told the guy "That did it! You made me get my hat dirty! Now I'm mad!!" He laughed and so did the ump. All in fun!!!

Next Thursday is our next game. Hopefully we can remember how to play and win this one!

    Hello again Ms. Barbara,

It's great to be back in the loop.
Probably looks like i was looped, instead, LOL
Your rendition of the game sounded like a local baseball game that we went to recently. the home team, the river city rascals were at the top of their division AND at the top of the league. the other team looked like they left their gloves, bats and brains at home, until.......

later they had them fedex'ed in quickly and they , the opposing team started kicking buttt. we left before the end of the game.

glad you are still having fun
that is the motto of the new team
gotta have some FUN everyday
no matter who you have to hurt, LOL

cya soon,
your ol' buddy
