My DH sent the kids to the Chevron (about a block away) for ice cream. I know, he should have burned the calorie to get it himself, but that's a WHOLE 'nother blog! LOL! Anyway, they rode their bikes (ok, daughter took mine) to make the trip a little quicker. About two minutes after they left we get a phone call. Daughter had biffed it...big time!! Word (from her) was that she was hurt bad and bleeding and in a lot of pain.
So of course I take off in the car (I know, to go less than a block!) to go get her. As I'm pulling up, there is another car pulled up talking to my kids. It's the dad of one of my daughter's friend. He saw her fall and turned around to check on her. Nice guy, huh? So, I check on daughter and sure enough, she bit it. Cuts and scrapes on her hands, knees, elbows and, somehow, she ripped her brand new shorts right in the zipper area. I don't know how, but she did. So, yes, she was hurt, but nothing serious.
She said she called as soon as she fell. Being the sweet, loving mother I am, I asked her if she was making the phone call on her way down. "Dad, I'm faaaaaaalllllliinnnnnnngggg......Aaahhhh!" She giggled (like she was supposed to) and got in the car. I put my bike in the back of the car and took her home. After we got home, I sent her into the bathroom to clean up. I gave her the option of me cleaning her cuts or taking a shower. She jumped, and I do mean jumped!, at taking a shower. As she was starting to undress, dirt and gravel fell out of her clothes. She looked a little disheartened until I reminded her that it is her brother's turn to clean the bathroom this week. She was much happier after that.
So, overall, she's gonna be a little sore and her scrapes are gonna make her pay attention, but overall she's fine. She has no clue why she wrecked.
Oh, and the ice cream? Made the boy go get it by himself. He did fine.

Okay, so the "oh my" is superfluous, but it was fun to type it (and sing it in my head! LOL) Those are my plans for the morning. I am going to get up early enough (but not TOO early) to go yard saling. I'm looking for a batting glove, maybe a new mitt (mine has lost most of it's padding), a cash box, books (always), bust specifically books 2, 3, 4 and 7 of the C.S. Lewis' series The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. When I have all seven, I'm going to reread them.
After yard saling, I'm going to swing by the local farmer's market. I really want fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. The BEST sandwich in the world is a tomato, cucumber and mayo sandwich...if the ingredients are fresh!
Then, I'll stop by the jeweler to get a new watch for my battery. The library should be open by then too and I'll do my weekly trip there. The newest Nora Roberts book is in and I get to read it first!!! Black Hills. I don't even know what it's about, but, it's Nora Roberts so it has to be good! LOL!

My softball team's first game was tonight. We were there, warming up, watching the game before us and wondering where the team we were supposed to play was. Well, at 8:00, the other team rolled in. Excellent!! We get to play!!
First inning, their pitcher walked a bunch of us, we hit well and we ended the top of the inning up by 8. The next two innings were better for both teams (fewer walks, more hits, actual plays). Then came the last inning...we forgot how to get our mitts down. Balls took some weird hops. Close catches (okay, they were misses, but we almost caught them!). And they started hitting. We ended up losing by 3 or 4 runs.
The good news is I had fun and so did the rest of my team. I played catcher and told a couple of the guys on the other team that there is no shame in striking out. LOL!!! Luckily, they laughed too! One guy hit a pop fly behind home. I tried to catch it and my hat fell off and I missed it. Coming back to the plate, I told the guy "That did it! You made me get my hat dirty! Now I'm mad!!" He laughed and so did the ump. All in fun!!!
Next Thursday is our next game. Hopefully we can remember how to play and win this one!

The new puppy did pretty good today. She did #2 outside (not inside!) and didn't have any accidents! We're trying to get her used to her bed and she doesn't like it. Daughter is going to sleep next to her tonight to try to keep her quiet and happy. Daughter is whining more than the dog at this point.
We'll see how they are both doing in the morning. LOL!
