The weirdest thing happened on the way to get gasoline...

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

I knew that I had some calories to "burn" in today's eating plan. I decided that if I didn't eat the orange and cheese stick snack, I could have something else a little less nutritious. I walked into the convenience store and started looking for just the right thing.

And I walked out with....nothing. I picked up a couple of things, checked the nutrition label and decided it wasn't worth it. The one thing I thought might be worth it (cake donuts), I stopped and thought about how I would eat it. Not how I should, but how I knew I would. Picture shoveling an entire donut in at one time, chewing enough to swallow, but not really taste. That would be me on ALL six donuts. Didn't sound appealing! So, I walked out with a receipt for my gas!!

I still have a couple hundred calories to meet my plan for today and I'm not sure if I'll meet them. Weird!

My baby is back!!!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Okay, so in this case, my baby is my pickup. We got this pickup in the same month and same year my son was born. They are both 10 years old and it feels weird if one of them isn't here. emoticon

Friday, on the way home from work, the timing belt on my pickup broke. We were lucky enough to be able to tow it to a friend's house (yep, he's a mechanic!) and he fixed it for us for so much less than a dealership would have. It took a little longer than he expected, but it is all better! Got to drive my baby home today and will be driving to work tomorrow. So nice to be mobile again!

Good Mother's Day

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Today was a good day. My DH made breakfast, we all had leftover pizza for lunch (read - no cooking for me!) and we went out to dinner. I got a good workout in between breakfast and lunch and went on a walk with the kids after lunch. We also hit a couple of stores before and after dinner. Daughter had birthday money she "needed" to spend, son had allowance he "had" to use and DH needed shoes. I tried on some REALLY cute yellow wedge sandals, so adorable! Unfortunately, they hurt my feet. emoticon If I had found something I wanted, I could have gotten. But, nothing jumped out at me.

Should have my truck back tonight. Fingers crossed!!

What an incredibly long day. Got up early to work out and start laundry. Then went grocery shopping and picked up the remaining things I needed for daughter's birthday party. Got home in time to shovel in lunch and put away groceries. Spent three hours trying to keep 9 kids entertained (was supposed to be two hours, but some parents didn't show up on time).

Kept laundry going the whole time and kept the little brother from being completely obnoxious to his sister (just partly obnoxious). Cooked dinner and returned the rental car. Now it's time to relax and I'm SOOOOOO ready for that! I'd like to say more, but just too darn tired. See you all tomorrow!

emoticon Remember, you get to count that laundry activity as fitness time. Is referee activity on the list? Maybe some of that applies as well!
emoticon - You today!

Crikey! What a horrid day!!

Saturday, May 09, 2009

So, here's my story. All week long I have thought that it is Friday. Today, it finally was!!! Yay! Well...not really. Started off poorly. I got out of the house heading to work later than planned because I needed to fold the laundry that was in the dryer (HATE to iron). Then, I got caught behind slow dang people all the way in. Cranky... emoticon

Went to KFC with my coupon for free grilled chicken (the one from and they wouldn't honor it! Something about bogus coupons so they wouldn't take anyone's! Fine...I got a "rain check" and will give them a piece of my mind when I send that in. Went ahead and ordered the chicken and biscuit only, no sides. They charged me for the sides! FINE. I had corn on the cob and a side salad. Didn't eat either one cos I really only wanted the chicken and biscuit, but I have snacks for later. Fine...

About 4:30 I get an e-mail that someone had finished their part of a project they were working on for me (YAY!!! emoticon) Got another e-mail about 8 minutes later saying that some of the material used to complete the project was expired - read BAD!!! AND, they knew about it but didn't pull the material off the floor so it wouldn't be used!!!! Spent an hour trying to figure out what to do and still don't have a solution. Will dig into it more on Monday.

On the way home, try calling DH back (he had called in the middle of my "crisis") and he never answers. I'm about 3 miles from home and my truck dies. Just dies. emoticon And DH isn't answering the phone....Luckily, the kids do answer and Dad is home. He comes gets me and we figure out that the timing belt broke and it will cost $225 to get it fixed. (Mechanic friend!) He takes me home so I can make dinner. He heads back to wait for the tow truck.

I NEED a vehicle tomorrow. So does DH. We end up going into Boise to rent a car for me to drive tomorrow. Luckily it's only $17 + fees...totally worth it! Daughter's b-day party is tomorrow so I have to go get the cake and party stuff and it's grocery shopping day. emoticon Oh yeah, and on the way home from picking up the rental, I turned on the hazards and could NOT figure out how to turn them off!! Had to pull off and have DH help me find the button!!

One really good thing did happen (besides not getting hit while waiting on the side of the road). On his way back to wait for the tow truck, DH stopped at the Chevron for a drink and bought a $20 lottery ticket. WINNER!!!WINNER!!!WINNER!!! He won $200!!! Almost pays for the repairs on the truck!!

So, missed my workout (which I really needed) but everything else is turning out okay. I'll get a good heavy work out in tomorrow morning b4 the party and maybe a light one after.

Deep breath...and exhale...The weekend will be better. emoticon

Happy! Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! Joy! Just felt like saying that and thought it might make you LOL! Although I still haven't figured out how you laugh without laughing out loud! Sorry to hear it's been such a rotten week, but I'm sure the weekend will be better, at least I am praying with everything I've got that your daughter's birthday will be special and that you will have a wonderful Mother's Day! Take care, enjoy and know that I am thinking of you! Donna emoticon emoticon emoticon
