One of the magazines I read has an article about boosting your metabolism. One of the hints is to eat breakfast WITHIN ONE HOUR of waking. I eat breakfast every day, but it's closer to two or two and a half hours after I get up. I'm going to try to have a piece of string cheese in the morning, within the hour, and see if that helps. I'll try it for a couple of weeks and let you know if I notice a difference.

On a separate note, I went to Baja Fresh for lunch today. I wanted to eat healthy, so I went to their website BEFORE I left for lunch. I started looking only at their lower calorie choices. I thought I could get a Baja Chicken taco and a cup of tortilla soup. Then I noticed that the sodium in the soup (just the soup!!) was more than my daily allowance!! emoticon Holy moly!! I did not get the soup. I ordered two tacos and they came with chips. If I had known I was getting the chips, I would have had one taco. But, since it was there, I ate it all. Still stayed in my calorie range for the day. The best part, though...I was only 63 over on my sodium today. That is one of my better days on sodium intake! emoticon Maybe all these articles I'm reading are starting to sink in! LOL!

Good luck with eating w/in the hour of waking up. I need a pot of coffee before I eat LOL! I've been eating breakfast sometime in the second hour.

Today was a tough day. Very tired, not very busy and really wanted to take a nap. I gave blood and that probably didn't help the tiredness much. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I gave, but tiredness can be a side effect. (Side note: I got my 4 gallon pin today!)

Because of the blahs all day and giving blood, I used that as an excuse not to work out. AND as an excuse to eat way too many cookies. Now I don't feel good. I think I'll go to bed early and start over tomorrow.

Two more days...

until the Walk To Wellness starts. I need to make a distribution list of all the members on my team so I can send updates, encouragement, etc. I want to keep everyone interested and involved, but not be obnoxious! emoticon It's a fine line to walk, but I am willing to try!

Working in exercise around life

Monday, April 27, 2009

So, with softball in full swing and my son wanting attention and all of the rest of normal life, it is getting harder to get all my exercise in. I finally realized that I can change my exercise goals every week (duh!) to match what I will actually have time to do. THEN, my calories are adjusted as well. emoticon

I know, silly me. But realizing that, and making the changes, has taken a huge burden off of me. I know I won't have time to work out two days this week so I increased my time the rest of the week by 10 minutes. Easy schmeezy!! And I don't feel like I need to try to get up at o-dark-thirty to work out. That just doesn't happen for me...

Time to pack my lunch and then relax before bed.

Feeling better

Sunday, April 26, 2009

So...I let my family know how irritated I was with their non-assistance last night. I even let my husband know that he needs to start participating in our recycling that we ARE doing as a family. I guilted him into it by telling him I needed his support. The final guilt trip I threw at him was feeling unappreciated.

My family did better after that. I got to take a nap and laundry is done (for today, at least). Before my nap, I did my JM DVD and an elliptical workout as well. I even got to catch up on reading the comics (ran out of time on Thursday and caught up today) and read my book.

Time to go play catch with my son.

did guilt work? I usually try not to use it. I know how frustrating it is when helpers do not wish to help.
