Dang! I am ready for summer! Left work today at 5:00. Got home at 7:15. Granted, had to stop to get a prescription, but still! A two-hour commute that is normally 35 minutes! I guess the important thing is that I made it home safely. Bonus - my husband had shoveled the walk and drive before I got home! Yay!

So, didn't make it to the gym, but I did do the Boot Camp Video for Day 2 and I did some arm strength training here at home. I'll make it to the gym tomorrow for sure!

What a busy day!! Started by going out to breakfast at JB's. I did not do the breakfast buffet, because buffets are challenges to me! Had a sourdough breakfast sandwich instead. Very yummy.

Came home, did the Boot Camp Day 1 video and then headed to the gym. After I got home, I made candy and cookies (while doing laundry) and then made dinner. Oh, and had a stew in the crock pot lunches. Finally, everything is done and I can sit and just watch TV.

Busy day

My goals for today were to work out, finish the kids' bathroom, hang my son's door, and clean out the master closet. Amazingly, I got all of those things done! I even tried a new arm workout that was in my Self magazine, I think the September issue. The instructions say to use a 3 pound weight. I thought 3 pounds isn't much, but since it's the first time, I'll follow the rules. I can always do more next time, right? WRONG!!! Three pounds killed me! I really hope the new moves will add some definition to my arms. Three days from the big 4-0 and I don't like my old lady arms. emoticon

For the kids' bathroom, all that was left was hanging the towel hangers. Each kid got to say where there towel rack was placed. This should help prevent my youngest from having to hang on it and pull it out of the wall. I hope!

My son's door to his bedroom has been off for about six months. He used it as a swing and pulled it out of the wall. I glued wooden matchsticks together and stuffed them in the holes in both the door and the wall. Then, my hubby and I put new screws in. Not perfect, but he has a door!

For the master closet, I asked DH if I could get rid of some of his clothes. He told me no. So, I mostly just reorganized his portion of the closet. I must admit that I did throw away a few things that were soooo holey that he couldn't (shouldn't) wear them anymore and some socks that were all stretched out. I don't think he'll miss them. If he does, I'll find out soon!

Tomorrow I'm going to make cookies and candy. Most of it will go to work with me on Monday. I'm actually looking forward to going back to work! Two weeks off with no real trips and two kids out of school is just a little bit too long.

Boot Camp Challenge

Friday, January 02, 2009

I joined the boot camp challenge. I figured that a different routine for four weeks might be the push I need to get myself to my goal. Today's bonus challenge was to enter starting stats. So, here goes.

Weight - 134.8 (the scale this morning hates me!)
Goal - 130.0
4-week goal #1 - 131.0 (that's right at 1 pound per week, so should be doable)
4-week goal #2 - Do every 10 minute workout posted plus a minimum of 30-minutes of cardio five days per week. Don't want to miss any!

I am a very organized person, who is also cheap as can be. Some might say frugal, but I think cheap sums it up much better. emoticon

So, with being cheap and organized and trying to lead a healthier lifestyle, I put together menus for breakfast, lunch, dinners and snacks. Since I get paid every two weeks, I put together the menu for the next two weeks and then make my grocery list from the menus. I even save the last few weeks to help remember what we had so that I don't duplicate too much yet still remember what the family did like so I can make it again.

So, why frustrated? Because I can't seem to make anyone happy lately. No matter what I've planned for dinner, someone has to gripe. One doesn't like tacos anymore because we have them so often. One doesn't like burritos because he wants tacos. One doesn't like ANYTHING new, even after I clear the recipe with him BEFORE I put it on the menu. I've suggested that my family make the menus and hubby just shot that down. Unless I let him put pizza and tacos every night. I'm feeling unappreciated and really am considering cooking what I like and to heck with the rest of them. Of course, they would all complain then!

Okay, I guess I'm done venting. I really don't know what to do to get through to the family. Maybe my company will send me to a far away location for two weeks. That's my New Year wish!!

That must be frustrating! Maybe if you let them eat pizza and tacos every night for a while they will be asking you to cook something else soon! emoticon

Venting is good! This is just the place for it too! Maybe your family is just cranky because of the change of foods. It takes a while to adjust. Also, you have to factor in the holidays. Some people get really cranky then! Just hang in there and things will work out eventually!

Happy New Year!
