Blessing in disguise?

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Yesterday I reported that I had to reschedule my hair appointment. This morning, I'm outside showing my kids some work they needed to do and I noticed that I have a flat tire on my truck. Bummer! I don't have anywhere I need to go now, so the flat tire can wait to be fixed (which is good. I have tons of other stuff to do today!).

I did go to the library which is just over a mile from my house. Walked there and back since my daughter needed my bike to get to softball practice. It started to sprinkle a little when I was almost back home. Nice timing!

Now it's time to make my candy for Bunco tonight, vacuum, do the Jillian Michaels video, shower and then, hopefully, relax a little before my guests arrive.

ttyl!

Delayed and a little bummed

Friday, March 20, 2009

So, I'm not getting my hair done tomorrow after all. My lady had two cancellations and I would have been the only one she was coming in for. Since she would have had to drive over 30 minutes each way, I didn't really want to make her come in for just one appointment. When you're in business for yourself, every little bit counts.

The good news is that I am rescheduled for Tuesday after work. I've waited 8 months, I can wait three more days. I'm glad that I didn't tell everyone at work that I was getting my hair done. Imagine the comments! You got your done?!?!!??!?? emoticon

I am still hosting Bunco tomorrow. My house is looking great! Still have some cleaning to do tomorrow, but got a lot done today. I even cleaned out DH's "filing" cabinet. (He piles all of the bills on the counter and calls it good.) I found stuff from 2007!!! Looks soooooo much better! Going to try to keep it that way too.

I took a picture that didn't make me cringe too much. Why do I look so much older than I feel? When I win the lottery (of course, I would have to buy a ticket first!), I will get all of those expensive skin treatment gels and goops to make me look as good as I feel! Here's the before. I'll post the after on Tuesday or Wednesday and pray for an improvement!! LOL!!

New hair...soon

Friday, March 20, 2009

On Saturday, I will finally get my hair cut and colored. It's been about eight months. Other things kept coming up that I thought I should spend the money on. Well, now I have the money. It is for me and I will use it for me! Yay!

I thought it would be cool to have before and after photos of my hair to show all of my Spark friends. I took some pictures last night. I had taken my shower, so my hair was flat and I had no make up on. Apparently, I am an old woman. Or some old lady jumped in front of the camera I was holding when I took the pictured. I deleted those! I took some pictures this morning with freshly done hair and makeup. Can't get much better than that, right? WRONG!! That OLD lady gussied up a little and jumped in front of me again!!! LOL! Okay, so I'm the old lady or vain or both.

Soooo, tomorrow morning, I'm going to have my daughter take the picture and maybe get more of my hair in the picture and less of that pushy lady! If I can get a picture that doesn't make me wince, I'll post it. I'm hoping the after picture is a lot easier to get! emoticon

Nite ladies. It's been a long day and I have to work tomorrow. See you on the flip side!

I can hardly wait, I think I'm getting almost as excited as you are over this! I've been cutting and dying my own hair for years and just whacked it all off. So I think I'm just thrilled to see you derive so much happiness out of this!!! It's a good feeling when you get to do the things you deserve!!! And it sounds to me like you definitely do. Hope I get to see some pictures!!!

Mentoring

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

At work, I was taking part in a mentoring program. I was working with 8th grade girls who are interested in technical careers. Today, they all came out to my work site and we had activities. We got to build a dance pad that when you stepped on it, it lit up and buzzed. That was fun! We also took a tour of my work. It's amazing the stuff they think is cool that we just take for granted.

After the tour, we went back to the conference room for lunch and more activities. We built an egg transportation box out of straws, marshmallows and masking tape. Our egg could be dropped from shoulder height (about 4 feet) and not break. We were pretty excited by that! The last activity was drawing on t-shirts with Sharpies and then dropping rubbing alcohol on the Sharpie. The colors spread into some very cool colors.

It was a lot of fun and I think the girls enjoyed it too. I hope I'm asked to take part in the program again next year.

New mouse, new hair

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

We finally have a new mouse for our computer!!! emoticon The old one would randomly double click so it was very difficult to do anything. There were many times I closed pages that I didn't want to close and copy/paste was out of the question. My DH must have gotten tired of hearing me complain because he went out tonight just to get a new one. He didn't even pick up cookies or candy or anything! True love!

I am finally getting my hair done this Saturday. I'm in a bit of a quandary, though. I really like my daughter's hair - the cut and color. I'll be dyeing my hair red, just not as dark as hers. The problem is, I don't want to have the same hair cut as my kid. I do, but I do not want to be one of those mother/daughter duos who have the same hair cut. I think we each deserve our own look. The thing is, we have similar hair. Naturally straight. Mine is thinner (one place I don't want to be skinny!) and tends to go flat VERY quickly after styling. I even took a picture of my daughter on my phone so I can show it to my beautician. I'll tell her "Don't do this!"

In other news, day 2 (third attempt) of no DP. Feeling good. Still no pushups for me. My back is getting better, but I'm not ready to tax it yet. Maybe by Friday?
