A few weeks ago, I changed my goals to show myself losing seven pounds by the end of the year. I figured that a slow-and-steady pace would take away the stress I was feeling and make it easier to stay in calorie range.

I was wrong.

Instead of making it easier to stay in calorie range, it got really easy to be over. Not a lot (usually), but over. And, sure enough, my weight followed. I saw my highest number on the scale this weekend. Granted, I had just eaten four pieces of Pizza Hut Meat Lovers Pizza...and was physically ill! But, the number was high and I didn't like it.

So...I readjusted again. I moved my goal up to losing seven pounds in three months. My exercise goals stayed the same so my calorie range shifted down quite a bit. But, that has been good for me. I've been more focused on getting my nutrients in within my limited calories. I have been able to fit a couple of treats, but I am not indulging everyday. I'm still taking my cheat day tomorrow, but it will be one day this week, not every day this week!

The good news is that the scale is down four pounds. I realize that most of that is bloat. I don't care!!!! It's gone! LOL! And, best of all, I am feeling it. I don't know for how long or how soon I will be tempted to over indulge. But for now, I'm feeling it and I'm liking it.

    Hi Barbara;

Whatever works for you try and stick with it. I make pull apart cookies with my 8 year old DGD and I cut them in half before baking so if I have one it is very small. I have even quartered them anything that works to home loose or maintain. I can't run but I walk over 10,000 almost every day. I even have a broken little toe but stil go for it. Put forth the effort and it will pay off in the long run. God bless you always.

    Slow never works for me (and fast doesn't either!). It's like running - I can't slow jog, but when I start running I can't hold it up for a minute! Not a great prospect. Since I can't run fast and long, there is just one way of doing it - learn running slow and long... emoticon emoticon

  I ate 4 pieces of pizza the other night, too, but it was Mediterranean and had no meat. I hadn't eaten much all day and I didn't even feel full.

    I had a boss, years ago, probably long before you and Dutchie were born, who had a small sign on his desk. It read: "What gets checked on gets done."

My dad dies a month ago today and ironically it was the last time I weighed myself until this morning. I gained 12 pounds. Now some of that is the whole grief/stress process for sure but some of it came from telling myself I had time to get everything back in line.

The important thing is that you learned from the process and in the future you'll not fall into the same trap.

    emoticon I think it is great that you adjusted your goal and found out that it helped. Sometimes a jump start quick drop motivates a long term weight loss. Just be cautious to stay motivated if the scale slows down in dropping. I hope it continues in the same general direction over time for you, Barbara.

    Yup, it's real easy to start over-indulging even if it's ever so subtle.
Best way I found to keep this in check is by weighing in once a week. This way I can take corrective action quickly if needed.
Keep fine-tuning, these pesky pounds should be long gone come summer.

Having said that, I broke into the Easter candy yesterday. The candy I had bought to make Easter baskets for the kids. Well, now I have to go and get some more tomorrow, which will hopefully make it into the kids' baskets...
Weigh-in is on Sunday. Looks light it might be time for a very well behaved week next week :)

New Do - With Pictures

My hair was red for years. Different shades and different colors mixed in, but always red. I would love to be a natural red head, but I hear natural red heads wish they weren't. I guess it's a matter of wanting what you don't have.

Anyway, I have recently been drifting more to the blonde. Still some red and even a little brown thrown in. As requested (KRICKET4), here are some photos. Rules are - only look at the hair, not the face!! Some old lady took over my mirror (and camera) and she won't leave! LOL! And, sorry for the poor quality of photos. The camera is my phone. 'Nuff said!

    I love the hair color!! Mine has a reddish cast that I don't like. did blonde highlights forever but new stylist is toning that way down!! (due to my age??) Now I just feel like my hair is too dark, too reddish but don't know where to go from here. My hair is very short so I guess it doesn't really matter! LOL I like your face (yes, I looked). You are very cute!!!
