I did it! But I don't have to do it again...

A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about a menu item at one of our local restaurants. It was a Peanut Butter Burger. A hamburger patty with hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, mayo and, of course, peanut butter.

I was intrigued when I read that but immediately discarded it from my choices. But as the day went on, and the days turned into weeks, I kept thinking about the dang peanut butter burger!

So...DH and I headed to the Ram for dinner tonight and I ordered that darn burger! And I ate it!! The whole darn thing! And it was tasty! I'm glad I ate it. Now it no longer has it's hold on me!

The good news is that I don't have to eat it again. It was okay, but not habit forming. Now on to Super Bowl food!

    emoticonI'm glad you got it out of your system. Sometimes, in fact often, different fast food does that to me to. If anyone even mentions a double jalapeno cheeseburger from White Castle I obsess about it. It's like fighting a losing battle until I get it.

  Better you than I. The only things on that sandwich that sound good together are pb, bacon and the mayo, but I would substitute Miracle Whip. I'm glad you're so willing to be our guinea pig.

    I must admit that a peanut butter hamburger could not tempt me - but plenty of other things will and have. I was not as bad as last week (guess that's improvement) but I was far from great. Did go to for a long walk with DH...

    Okay, that is hilarious! Did you try to figure out how to track it? I just checked the nutrition tracker and I can report that no one else on Spark seems to have shared such a food adventure. So, I'm glad you've now done it on all of our behalf--my curiosity is now perfectly satisfied!

How long does one week take?

Holy moly! This week is taking forever. And I'm not the only one who feels this way. All week, it has seemed like the week should be over, or almost over, and it hasn't been! emoticon

It is finally Friday Eve! And I still feel like the week should have ended long ago! Does anyone have a time machine? I'd like it to be tomorrow at this time....now!

    I just want a time machine to stretch out my weekends, haha. I say goodbye to coworkers on friday evening and I swear I'm saying hello to them 20 mins later come monday morning.
But yes, it was excruciatingly long this week. I thought it was friday by tuesday morning, haha.

Peanut Butter Burger??

For lunch today, I went with some co-workers to a restaurant called "The Ram." It is one of those restaurants that I don't go to with my family because DS can't eat anything there, DD won't eat anything there and DH isn't interested. Whatever.

As I was reading the menu, I saw that they had a burger called "The Peanut Butter Burger." Here is the description.

PEANUT BUTTER
Peanute butter, cheddar, hickory smoked bacon, sliced tomato, lettuce and mayo 9.99

BTW...they spelled peanut with the extra "e" on their website. I just copied and pasted! emoticon

Okay, so I like peanut butter. I really like peanut butter. And I'm a fan of the cheddar and the bacon and the tomato and the lettuce. Not so much on the mayo. But...put it all together? I'm not sure about that! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with monterey jack cheese, no sauce, and fries. (Fries were VERY salty so I only ate a few). I was satisfied and pleased and pretty darn proud of myself for ordering a fairly healthy meal.

But now I want to try that PB Burger! emoticon Dang it! It is on my mind and it is haunting my taste buds and it is luring me back to that restaurant. Gosh darn it!! Maybe I can order a sampler? Or make my own? emoticon emoticon emoticon

    What you have not had it yet... mmm ok maybe it needs some cheese on it, oh wait cheddar is there, maybe it needs some tomato, oh yea that is there already. I've got it, cut out something else for the day add a few miles or minutes/hours to a work out and go for it. Like John says, lemme know how it tastes. LOL enjoy, drop the guilt and try something new. woohoo!! Then work out but do let us know. spark friend. I was thinking of a nice Thai burger with ..... I will not tempt you emoticon

    Not a healthy choice, but I used to sometimes make myself a cheesesteak sandwich with a smear of peanut butter on the toasted bread. Add fried onions and mmmmmm.

    Hmmm...well maybe it's just me but I bet that burger is awesome. I suspect if you got some natural peanut butter that wasn't too sweet and made one yourself it wouldn't be too bad. Truly you are just some hot peppers from having a Thai burger. Drop the mayo and add some dried Thai peppers and you are golden!! Just go easy on the serving size like Rachel Mac said both the beef and the peanut butter are super calorie dense. If you use either ground turkey or 97% fat free beef and only 1 T of PB it wouldn't be too bad. Just watch all the extras they add up quick. Maybe make bite sized and share with the whole fam...lol if they would eat it.

  I say make your own because then you know exactly how much of everything you use and can log it. We ate peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwiches when we were kids. Actually pretty good.

    AVOID IT. Peanut butter is so dense and they probably slop it on. The burger and fries before the peanut butter is a nutritional disaster--almost certainly more than 1500 calories and 75g fat, probably more than a day's worth of saturated fat (25g+), but when you add a decent schmear of peanut butter it's going to add about 500 calories and 40+ grams of fat on top of that. Not worth it ... put it out of your head!

    I googled Peanut Butter Burger and was surprised at the number of sites that came up, 994,000 to be exact. I'm sure you could find a recipe to your liking. I like peanut butter but it sounds too weird in a burger. Let me know when you try it, my curiosity has got the best of me.

Kitchen cures for gorgeous skin???

I have a magazine (Woman's World) that I read. It is a weekly periodical and every week they have new ways to keep your hair shiny or your nails perfectly manicured or whatever. (BTW...I'm about six months behind, so this was a June issue) emoticon

The week that I'm reading has the headline "Kitchen Cures for Gorgeous Skin." Now, I know what they mean. They are going to give us great hints on using items that we already have in our kitchens to make our skin gorgeous.

But that's not what it says. It says they are going to *cure* our gorgeous skin with stuff from the kitchen. I don't have gorgeous skin, so I don't need to cure it. But if I did...I still wouldn't want to cure it! LOL!

Okay...done with semantics and whatever else this is called. Just wondering if anyone else sees stuff like this and wonders if magazines hire proof readers any more. emoticon

  I love to find stupid errors like that. I have seen tons of them in our local papers. I swear the editors wear blinders or they really don't know their job. I take care of a woman whose husband was the publisher of a paper and it is full of mistakes. I just shake my head.

    LOL, I love finding little errors like this - very funny to my sense of humor. I love Monday nights with Jay Leno because he does the newspaper bloopers - having written for a newspaper for 18 years, it really appeals to me! There's some good ones out there.

scrubbing yourself with caster sugar with some honey is awesome... who needs expensive stuff? and Eucalyptus oil is my new life elixer...

Lower body exercises

I have decided that I need to restart my lifting routine. Lifting upper body, for me, is easy. By that, I mean that I know lots of different exercises for each muscle group. I can vary the routine fairly easily using free weights, machines or a combination. No problem!

However, lower body is another story. I won't use the inner/outer thigh machine. Too likely to cause an injury. The leg press is the wrong exercise for my body type (my booty is the size it needs to be, thank you!). I've done lunges, both standing and walking, and I'm currently doing squats. I also do calf raises. That's it. Not very much variety. And because of that, I get bored with my lower body routine very quickly.

Does anyone have any a ideas? I do my workout at a gym, so there are machines, weights, resistance bands, etc. available. However, no PC or video player so videos aren't an option. I think I will add some plyometrics, but would like ideas there as well. I'm open for suggestions. Flood me!

  You can do abductions and adductions with a resistance band as opposed to the machines. Spark People shows a lot of lower body exercises on the fitness page. Lower body exercises are always harder for me to do, but that is where I need the most work. There are also several you can do on a mat by getting on all fours and then lifting your leg out to the side both bent and straight, swinging your leg to the front and back, lowering your head to the mat and then lifting your leg straight up or kicking in to your butt.
These are all coming back in a rush because they are the ones I hate to do.

    You knowevery sine I started water jogging and kicking using the lap board, I have really started to develop muscles in my legs. Not sure if you have a pool or water track at your gym, but that is an idea. I power walk alot and that has helped develop muscle also. Just throwing out ideas to you.

    There are a number os excercises that work your hamstrings and quads. you might want to look at them.

My only word of caution, and I understand what you are saying about body type, etc, my trainer told me that unless you develop the muscle groups equally you stand a better chance of getting hurt.
