What is it with guys and push ups

Well, I did it! I opened my big mouth and told all the guys at work that on April 4th, I would be able to do 100 push ups. THEN, I challenged them to try to match or beat me! AND I dragged my friend (who works there too) into the challenge. The date was pushed to April 10th, but "It is ON like Donkey Kong!!" Did I ever mention that I'm a bit competitive?? emoticon

And what is it with guys. I mentioned to multiple people (mostly guys, cos that's who I work with) that I joined this challenge. All but one asked if it was for "girl" pushups. As though I couldn't possibly do a "real" pushup. JEEZ! And then, the guy I carpool with asked if I would be up to driving next week. He was concerned that I would be sore from the pushups. HELLO!!! I started this week, not next week. The soreness phase is OVER! Dork! I am so going to show every one of those macho so-and-so's that girls can do proper form push ups!!

And I did take the "before" photo. I have a double chin, you can't see any definition in my arms AND the shadows make it look like I haven't shaved my arm pits in months (if ever!). Not posting that where anyone can see it!!! Unless I'm really hot in the "after" shot. emoticon

Nutrition graphs

Does anyone use the new graphs that are created after entering all of your food in the nutrition tracker? That is the neatest thing!! I'm a complete nerd and LOVE the graphs. The graphs help me see where I need to tweak my food intake to improve my health.

I even have an Excel sheet that I update every day with my weight. The graph shows my weight and the difference from the previous day's weight. (Yes, I'm addicted to the scale!) Having the graph, and daily wiegh-in's, helps me see any patterns. For example, I generally eat more on the weekends and the scale usually shows a 3 - 4 pound gain. I lose it by Thursday and then start over again on the weekend. Hmmmm, now why am I still three pounds from goal? emoticon

Working on the goals

Did okay on some of my goals, spaced others. Kept forgetting to eat slowly and chew my food. Either I didn't remember until the food was gone, or I remembered half way through. It'll get easier with practice.

Stayed in my calorie range today!! Remembered how I felt after three cookies yesterday and stopped eating!! Wow! It works!

Exercised today and took my daughter with me. Did my second day of the 100-push up challenge. My muscles are still unhappy and tired, but I'm liking it. Tomorrow, DH is going to take "before" pictures of my biceps (flexed, of course!) so I can compare to the after in six weeks.

I'm feeling pretty good. Those 3.6 pounds (okay, 3.8 now) are coming off. Typing is burning hundreds of calories. I can feel it!! emoticon

New Goals

Yesterday, I reset my goals on Spark People, for the third time in three months!! I still have the same 3 - 5 pounds (depending on how much I ate/drank the day before) to lose. So, this time, I have 3.6 pounds to lose by April 1st. Here are my plans for losing the weight for sure this month.

1. Chew my food at every meal at least 15 times per bite and put the fork/utensil down between bites.

2. Stay within my calorie range at least 5 days per week.

3. Remember how I feel right now when cookies start calling my name (I had three chocolate chip cookies after dinner. Way too sweet and I feel a little nauseous right now.)

4. Exercise at least five times a week.

5. Pursue the 100-push up challenge (I WILL be at 100 push ups by 4/1/09)

6. Use my new JM DVD's (when I get them) at least once a week each.

Okay, that should be enough. Too many goals and I'll forget what they are! emoticon
