Holy Moly am I ever tired!

Another one of my marathon days of getting stuff done. Up at 5:30 to get to the gym. Home, start laundry, eat breakfast, strip and remake the bed, wipe down the bathroom and get the boy ready for Jamboree. Jamboree for a little over two hours (it was fun and they kicked some butt!), birthday gift shopping, bank, boy to party, library and back home for lunch. Laundry, Sparking, go get boy.

FINALLY made it home a little after three o'clock. I was so tired that I fell asleep reading my book and stayed that way for a little over an hour...sitting up. The only reason I got up was cos I needed to go potty! LOL! Then the guilt set in and I worked on the laundry some more.

DH, MIL and FIL came home a little after five and we all headed to Red Robin for dinner. No cooking for me! Yay!!! And my big plans for tomorrow? Sleep in!! That's it! Yippee!!! emoticon

    Hope you got some rest! Love how you call your son "the boy." My kids didn't know their real names until they started school. They all thought their names were "bubs" "sis" "pensie" and "bean." I still have to write it like that on their Christmas gift tags.

    I actually took yesterday afternoon off. Sat on the couch, watched a movie, talked to the husband. Body just decided it wasn't moving anymore.

    Barb, I am shocked! You have a potty mouth? Wow, I would have never known! The perfectionist thing is not a surprise at all! I always have a bad swearing streak after I come home from Florida thanks to my friend's mouth! But I think I am almost over it!

    Aha! Not too surprising. But the last one confirmed it again. Perfectionist...leads back to O...as in OCD! LOL! And I guess I'm going to have to admit it, it takes one to know one. What does food do to your body?

I've been listening to the Biggest Loser Fan Podcast. I download it to my phone and listen to that while I'm working at my PC. They're free, or I wouldn't have them! LOL!

Anyway, today's podcast (at least, it was today for me) one of the hosts said that his "Aha" moment was when he started to think about what was actually, physically happening to his body when he ate certain things. What does your body do and what are you doing to your body when you eat fat? Or sugar? Or fiber?

That question made me pause...with a pretzel M&M halfway to my mouth. LOL! (don't worry, I got that M&M into my mouth along with all of the others!) But, it also made my thoughts pause too. I don't know exactly what it does to my body when I eat poorly. Or when I eat healthy. I know how I feel when I eat well. I know how I feel when I don't. But exactly what's going on in there? Are my cells doing happy dances and singing "bring on the sugar" when I eat that cookie? Somehow, I don't think so but I'd kind of like to think so! LOL!

So, I think I'm going to go to the library and get Dr. Oz's book about the human body. I think I want "You: An Owner's Manual" not the "You: On a Diet" book. Maybe knowing what food does to me will make it easier to make healthy choices.

Or maybe I'll have sugar parties! emoticon

    It's a mind game I play recently.
I observe how I feel before, during and after a meal in combination with the macronutrients and calories it contains.
I did not know there are books pertaining to this specific subject, though.
It was a rather instinctive reaction. Cool!
Try it.
It helps a lot and you become more efficient controlling not only your "hunger", "appetite" and "cravings but your psychological condition also. Drugs free, fuss free and all natural and personal!!

    Something to ponder....I love the way you put it all together with the M & M's. I really love Dr. Oz too. Been watching him for years! Haven't read the book though. Maybe I should, huh?

    I bought that book a while ago and I did start on it. It is quite interesting. It is however, currently sitting among some other half-finished books right next to my bed. Some day I will get back to it. Let me know what you find out.

    I'm glad you found the podcasts, I find them interesting and sometimes motivating too. I would like to know about the sugar thing. I watch the Dr.s tv show sometimes and recently they showed blood after consuming fatty foods..it was an eye opener for sure because it actually gets thicker...not a fan of looking at blood but the visual was very helpful. Looking forward to your book report. Maybe we should have a book club until Clinton and Stacy come back.

    Have you ever really watched what food looks like when you get it all wet and ready to spray down into the disposal? Pretty gross sometimes. Or if it's greasy, it just clings to anything it can. And stays there. I think maybe we should stop thinking about this . . .

The last month or so, my gym has been listing the members who had the most visits during that month. Last month, I was #2! I think the guy who was number 1 (no potty references, please!) visited more than once a day. I say if you want it bad enough to cheat, you can have it! emoticon [Notice how I immediately take down a level, or three?]

This month, I am once again second on the list! I don't remember the guy's name from last month, but it might be the same one this month. Dagnabit! LOL! Anyway, it's kind of cool to see my name up there. Even though until very recently (like, last week), no one I actually know and speak to belongs to the gym so no one would see it. Except me. And I'm pretty happy with myself! Go me! emoticon emoticon


Parting note...DD was watching Wild Child which is apparently set in England. "Mom" asks my intelligent, lovely daughter. "Why are they speaking English?" emoticon emoticon

I'm still giving her grief over that one! LOL!

Football practice is forcing me out of my rut!

Football practice for my son started this week. Even though he is not released to play/hit/block/tackle/etc., he can do most of the warm ups and running. His practice is every night (for the first two weeks) from 6 to 8. I prefer to stay at his practice the whole time. Partly cos I like to watch him practice. Partly cos I like to talk to the other parents. Partly cos I'm worried he'll hurt himself and need his mommy (not that he would admit that!). LOL! emoticon

Before this week, that 6 - 8 time would be used in coming home to make dinner, eating dinner, getting ready for and heading to the gym. Now, I eat dinner when I get home. Monday night, I headed to the gym after dinner and didn't get to bed until 11:00. I got up at 4:20 to meet a friend at the gym (and then I didn't have to go tonight!). The thought process is that I will go early in the morning so I don't have to try to go after dinner.

It worked so far (one day). emoticon Of course, that was one day AND I was meeting my friend. Tomorrow will be a true test of my mettle (meddle?). Not meeting the friend. Planning on the gym. Wish me luck!

So, not only is my exercise rut rerouted, but so is my food rut. I used to have a snack around 3:30 or 4:00 and then eat dinner no later than 6:30 or 7:00. NOW, I don't eat dinner until after 8:00. I have to work a second snack in there that will keep me satisfied without blowing my calorie budget. I think I'm going to try carrots tomorrow. I can eat a lot of those for very few calories. emoticon

  Couldn't you just walk around the field while he is practicing? Maybe they have a spare tackling dummy you could use for strength training. Just kidding.
Don't get behind on your sleep. Take it from me - you can never catch up and being constantly tired is a real drag.

    Ah, I remember those days. My son was in JFL and the field was 30 minutes from our house and I worked 30 minutes from home. We had a lot of sandwiches those days so he could he eat before practice and my daughter and I would eat while he was practicing. I'd get home from work, pick them up and drive to practice.

Did you manage to get up this morning and make it to the gym? I had to get up at 4:30 so I could get in my workout and shower before the guys did. It's going to be a long day.

    Good luck! I'm trying to figure out how to fit gym into my schedule next month, once my various injured joints settle down, and it isn't easy! It's probably even harder for you, because you have kids at home. Making the time for a change in routine might mean turning the daily schedule upside down, shaking it up a bit, and looking at it entirely differently.

    I'm tellin' you, if you get any busier you won't need to exercise all the time! Do you get to count all of that as calories burned or something? Going, going, going,.....going crazy or something! LOL!! Oh well, I guess I'm just jealous. You're such a great person and a good Mom...by the way, how is you DS' arm doing? Hope all is going well.
