Presidential's Fitness Test

Saturday, February 21, 2009

I've decided that I want to do the Presidential's Fitness Test for adults. There are two different tests, one with walking and one with running. I'd like to think that I can do the running one, but not sure my body can back up my brain. emoticon

Since I'm planning to copy Zircadia and do the 100 push-up challenge too, I should be smokin' hot in one month. emoticon

Career Day

Thursday, February 19, 2009

When do your kids start being embarrassed by you? My daughter is 12 and asked me to please come to her school on Career Day and speak about my career. AND she came to see me today during their break AND gave me a hug IN FRONT OF HER FRIENDS!!! emoticon I was shocked, but I went with it. Maybe she'll be embarrassed by me tomorrow.

My Career Day "speech" actually went pretty well. They set me up in a room with one other speaker and we each presented our careers three times to three different groups of kids. The stuff I had to hand out was interesting to the kids and no one fell asleep! When my daughter was in the group, I had her dress in a clean room suit and keep it on during my entire presentation. She loved the attention and the kids thought it was great. I even had one kid say he thought I was cool. emoticon I know, I know. I shouldn't care what 12 and 13-year olds think. But, hey! At least one of them liked me!!! And I liked that!! emoticon

The other guy was a detective. His toys were much cooler than mine. I mean, really, how do you compete with a taser? Luckily, I went first with each group so I was interesting for at least the first 20 minutes!

It was fun to do and I would do it again if asked. But, I'm also glad it's over.

Gave blood today

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

The Red Cross comes to my work on a regular basis. The nice thing is that they come to my end of the building every 8 weeks. And, I'm eligible to give every 8 weeks. Weird how that works out, huh? (lol!)

The guy I car pool with also gives regularly. He had to cancel his appointment today because of a meeting with a vendor. We were discussing how often and how much we had given. I tend to be a little competitive (okay, really competitive) and wanted to know how much he had given over his lifetime. Turns out, he's given about 18 pints. Yep, as of today, I've given 31 pints. Next time it will be an even 4 gallons!!!

When I was in high school, we were allowed to skip one government class if we were at least 18 and wanted to go give blood. Of course I went!!! I was talking to my grandpa about it and he showed me his Red Cross card. He was at 16 gallons!!! Holy cow!! And that was 20 years ago. Can you imagine how much he has given if he was able to continue to give over the years? I aim to be like him and make it to at least 16 gallons...but not this year. emoticon

Good for you for giving blood! :)
I had some blood taken last month. I was completely wiped out that afternoon. All I wanted to do was sleep.

That's awesome! My father gave blood regularly as well. I want to start doing so too. At this point I have replaced the amount of blood that I received in an emergency surgery. That was pay-back. Now to start paying forward!

Much better today

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Today was so much better than yesterday!! I have a presentation to do at my daughter's school on Thursday (Career day) and I went to my company's HR department for ideas and assistance. They gave me soooo many cool things to pass around and present and stuff. I'm actually excited about giving this talk now!

On top of that, I was given a new project at work (finally!) AND I got a compliment from my boss...sort of. Someone else told me what he said. He didn't actually tell me (that isn't going to happen), but knowing he said it to the powers-that-be made me feel better.

Time to figure out what I'm going to say on Thursday. Wish me luck! I'll let you all know how it goes!

Today sucked

Monday, February 16, 2009

The alarm sounded at the normal time. I was still tired.

Projects at work weren't set up correctly, some my fault, some not, but I got to take the heat for all of them.

Another project I wanted was given to someone else.

Got off work early to take the kids to the DDS. Son was disrespectful and told me he hated me.

Skipped the trip to the store to find a jacket/skin for my I-Pod (not taking a disrespectful kid on a shopping trip).

Came back from the gym and had to finish up laundry before I could eat dinner (hubby is sick and needed to get to bed early, laundry was in our room).

Finally, kids and DH are in bed and it's MY time! It'll be better tomorrow.

Sorry for the blahs. Some days are just that way.
