DD came home today and told me that for softball she needs to be able to run a mile in under eight minutes.
For all you runners out there, you're probably thinking okay. And? Well, I'm not a runner (at least not right now) and my daughter hated soccer because of...yes, you guessed it...the running! And she needs to be able to run a mile in eight minutes??
Okay, so we'll start practicing. I'm not sure when softball tryouts are, but now is as good a time to start as any! The road we live on has an easy to measure mile. I told her we could walk the ~1/8th of a mile to the one end and then start jogging. As soon as one of us needed to stop, we would. Then we could start jogging again. Eventually we will be able to run/jog the whole mile. Once we're at that point, then we can start cutting down the time.
I told DD that we would start tomorrow...at 8:00am. She couldn't understand why we had to start sooooooo early in the morning! Early? HA! I'll try to get her up in the morning and see how her motivation is. If we wait until too late, it will be too hot and it will be much harder to run. If she doesn't want to go outside in the morning (beautiful time and beautiful place to exercise!) she can start on the treadmill upstairs. Not quite as beautiful! LOL!
I am hoping that she decides she wants to run outside. It will be a good reason for me to run as well. I'll keep you updated!

Well, solitude from the kids and responsibilities anyway. LOL!
Started the day by sleeping in almost to 8:00! Woo hoo! Left for the gym and got my workout in before doing anything else. Ate breakfast, gathered all the stuff I needed, cut the loaf of bread and wrapped the slices and then headed out for MY day.
I started by running errands (bank, post office, turning in aluminum cans) and then headed to Kohl's. Found a great pair of capris on the clearance rack for $8. Then off to Target. Yellow shirt and a 3/4 sleeve black sweater (one on clearance one on sale). Then lunch. Then ShopKo. Another sweater for only $8! I managed to make the day last for a little over 5 hours and I only got one phone call! Woo Hoo!!
After dinner, we went to pick up the boys' gear for football...helmet and pads. He got LOTS of attention because of his sling. Practices don't start for another three weeks, so he will miss at least one week of practice. He'll still be there, just not be able to do anything. After six weeks, we'll get the collarbone re-x-ray'd (is that a word?) to see if it's healed. At that time, he may get to practice. Will have to make the call on playing an actual game though. Don't want to rebreak it!
On that note, DD is staring me down. Waiting for her turn on the PC. If looks could kill....
Talk to you all later!

There are signs.
One - he has taken a lot fewer pills today than he has in the previous two days
Two - he had a friend over all day and they were able to find things to do
Three - no nap for him today
Four - he is insisting on doing things for himself, even things he shouldn't do yet
Five - he's fighting with his sister
Yep, that last one is the one that tells me the most! They are swiping each other for stupid things. Yelling at each other over dumb stuff. You know...being siblings! Tomorrow is my day to take time for myself, no plans (other than what I plan), no responsibilities, no kids. I WILL assign a ton of chores to each of them if they call me with their bickering! LOL! And I've told them that too. We'll see how tomorrow goes!

Water parks are for kids, right? Well, maybe. But I wanna play too!
As most of you know, I am on a stay-cation and had plans to take the kids to the water park three to five days during my time off. Partly because it would be fun for them and partly because I would get to be warm and read my book. But really, I wanted to go play on the rides too! I like going down the slides and getting wet and screaming like a little girl! LOL! I like soaking up the sun and hustling across the cement cos my feet are burning. I don't like waiting in lines for the rides so much. But, waiting in line with my kids meant that I got to talk to them. We were making memories, having fun and screaming "Olaaaaaaaafffffff!!!" all the way down the ride. (Not sure why "Olaf," but that's what we were told to yell by DS! LOL!)
Since DS can't go, I can't go. It would be very, very wrong to go without him. Right? LOL!! Just kidding! I know that I can't go. But I can still miss it. And, no, I'm not telling him that I miss it. He's in that state of mind that he would take it personally. Like I was blaming him for not being able to go. Of course I'm not, but you know how it is when you're in pain and/or on pain meds! Very emotional!
The good news is that I got some auctions started for DH and got some cleaning done and did my dishes...twice! And I'll be heading to bed at a decent hour. So the vacation is not a total wash. Plus, we still plan to go to the zoo on Thursday. Might get there in time to feed the giraffes. Might not too.
Spark ya later!
