Random randomness

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

I drank two fewer cans of Diet Pepsi today! I skipped the morning one and the one in the evening. Amazing what getting some sleep will do for you!

I have some odd sunburns. Went to the water park twice this weekend. Applied and reapplied sunscreen frequently. However, I apparently missed a few spots. Upper body right at the edge of my swim suit and my back, edge of swim suit. Those spots, I understand the burn. But, I also have a sunburn about the size of an egg (shape too) on the side of my thigh. Not near my swim suit. Odd.

My library is going to be closed July 3 - 5. Which is great for the librarians...three day weekend! Sucks for me as I have to get my "librarying" in on Thursday. Messes up my "rut"!

DD wants to try some workout DVD's. All of the ones I own are on loan right now. So, we're heading to the library tomorrow (another rut interruption!) to let her pick some out.

Got a call from my gym today. We need to re-up. If we sign up for two more years, we can lock in our current rate (which is cheaper than a newbie would pay) and we can get two free months. What the heck, huh? Not moving and I use it, so let's do it! And who knows, maybe DH will want to go again soon.

Scrabble...or Words with Friends on the iPhone...totally addicted to it! Found out today that there is a limit to how many games you can have going at one time. 21. No...someone else told me. I have not tested it. Yet! emoticon

Okay...enough randomness.

Love randomness. Odd little thingy about the egg-sized burn, though. Breanna gets those. In the weirdest little places. Does it always come and go there in the same spot? Or is this new?

Sometimes I think those "random" things about life are the very best things. It seems that they are the things we remember long after we forget the so-called monumental moments.

People watching

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Went to the water park today and I caught myself doing a lot of people watching. There were women there who looked really good in their bikinis. Women who shouldn't oughta been in bikinis. Women who coulda been but weren't. Women who were obviously very uncomfortable in their bodies and women who were comfy! No...I didn't just notice the women. Unfortunately, there just wasn't any eye candy for me to "gorge" on! LOL!

However, I did let my "humble" self out. My son cut his toe on something. I took him to the First Aid hut and while we were standing outside, waiting our turn, I noticed that some of the men in the endless river were checking me out. That's right. They were eye balling me! Oh wait. I was in front of the First Aid Hut. I was kind of like a car just gotta look! LOL! emoticon

That realization deflated my ego a bit. Not much, but a bit! LOL! All in all, it was a good day. I read for quite some time, enjoyed the warmth and did a whole lotta nothin'. I could do that again long as my boss doesn't catch me! LOL!

Yeah, I like to people watch myself.
And I'm betting they were checking you out and not just rubbernecking at the scene of an accident, haha!!

Uh, I highly doubt that it was only because you were in the first aid hut, m'dear. Don't sell yourself short, squirt. You may not be in a swim suit in your prof pic, but you're one hot momma!

Cough, cough, not that I would notice or anything...

Done, done and done!

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Here's the list I posted yesterday and what I actually did....

1. Exercise - done!
2. Start more laundry (doing a load tonight) - done! Towels done, sheets just need folded. Towels and swimsuits in the wash. Three loads left
3. Go to the library - Done!
4. Stop at the Chevron for drinks to go with the lunches the kids will eat and ice - stopped at Paul's instead, but done!
5. Take the kids to the water park and hang out with them for a little while - done..I even went on some rides!
6. Meet CarlAnnie for lunch (Woo Hoo!) - Done. Cheesecake Factory and we both ordered very healthily. She did better than me, though. emoticon
7. Go to Cabela's and sign up for a concealed weapons permit class - tried but have to pay cash when you sign up. Didn't have $$$ so I'll try again later.
8. Back to the water park for more time with either the kids or a book! - Done! Finished Nefertiti and started Hunger Games. AND, went on some more rides.
9. Bring everyone home and make dinner for the kids before going out to dinner with DH - DD made dinner instead of me. Went to On The Border for dinner and stayed in calorie range!
10. Spark for a little while - Doing it now!
11. Go to bed! - Soon...

Thinking of taking the kids to the water park again tomorrow. Gotta get all we can out of those season passes!!! Plus, I get some good reading time in. If we do go, I plan to go to the gym first and we won't stay as long. I'll need to rest up for work on Monday.

Are you gonna be a scary lady? Do we need to be worried?
Obviously I've missed something (bleedin' laptop issues!). Sounds "interesting", though. I'm definitely curious now...

Busy day planned for tomorrow

Friday, June 25, 2010

Here's a quick list of what I have planned for tomorrow. In order. And I'm doing this for two reasons. First, so you will be impressed by how much I plan to get done (LOL!) and second, so I don't forget what I need to do!

1. Exercise
2. Start more laundry (doing a load tonight)
3. Go to the library
4. Stop at the Chevron for drinks to go with the lunches the kids will eat and ice
5. Take the kids to the water park and hang out with them for a little while
6. Meet CarlAnnie for lunch (Woo Hoo!)
7. Go to Cabela's and sign up for a concealed weapons permit class
8. Back to the water park for more time with either the kids or a book!
9. Bring everyone home and make dinner for the kids before going out to dinner with DH
10. Spark for a little while
11. Go to bed!

I think it sounds very doable. At least, right now, it does! emoticon emoticon

Korea - The End

Friday, June 25, 2010

I asked the boss today who he was sending to Korea. He said that he hadn't decided, but if "other" guy was available he would send him. Because of who the customer doing the audit is. Kind of figured that. "Other" guy has experience with audits and I have none. "Other" guy has been taking the lead in talking to the customer, so customer is more familiar with him.

I almost suggested sending us both, but with the economy the way it is, that really isn't an option. Oh well. I'll get experience some other time. Probably. If "other" guy can't go, I'll let you all know. If you don't hear anything else, you'll know he went.

And on a related note, thank you all for you support through my little drama I had going here. The boss does know that I've done a lot of the work on this project. In fact, he mentioned that the only reason "other" guy is still involved in this project is because of "legacy." His word, not mine. The boss knows that I could handle this (probably), but since things are already in place with "other" guy, we'll just follow the same path.

I'll get my chance to prove myself (again!) and I'll get my chance to go out of the country. It just may have to be on my own dime! LOL!

I'm sorry you probably won't get this chance, but another will come. We're rooting for you!

Well, shoot - you could have read about 3 books on the flight over and another 3 on the way back! I like your idea about visiting another country on your own dime - it will be much more fun that way!

PS Your SP friends have your back. If you need any of us to talk to your boss, just let us know . . .

At least it sounds like your boss understands your contributions and appreciates what you've done. Everything happens for a reason, I believe. You will get your chance. Obviously, something better is on its way! I love your attitude about the situation. emoticon

Whether or not you ended up going, it's good to know that your work is valued and appreciated. Who wants to go to Korea anyway? Now if it were Thailand, that would be a different story (except for the troubles there now ...). You'll have your chance one of these days, to go abroad to a much nicer place, I bet!

BKNOCK 6/25/2010 5:55AM

Times like this I usually secretively hope that the "other" guy trips up! But if I had to pick my first place to travel to I would pick something like Switzerland or England or Ireland or Scotland! Does your company do business in any of those places? I bet your husband is relieved!

Take care,

I hate this "other guy" policies - very disappointing. I've had a million cases in my life where I did the work, but the 'other guy' got the honours for it. It is wrong from the earthly perspective. It's very wrong from the heavenly perspective. Why then is it constantly happening?
