Thanks, BlueCafe... I am only on Phase 2 of Atkins, so staying away from dairy. May just do fruit & veg "shake"

Having some breakthroughs...

Friday, April 20, 2012

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a pair of shorts in my correct size, not my old size (12, not 14 OR 16!) Yeah! But the best thing was, I found myself browsing other clothes and thinking about "when" I would get them, not "that would never fit me"!

Nice walk at lunch today after a 5-day migraine and my body is so happy! :-)
Hoping the weather holds for me and my dog-friend's after work walk-date.

All things happen for a reason...

Friday, April 13, 2012

Yesterday I left work early (without pay) to attend a class, which happened to be near my son's school. There was a huge traffic back-up, which made me miss the first half of the class. While cursing my terrible luck I made the decision to skip the class and catch the tail-end of my son's baseball game. As I walked up to the field, my husband greeted me saying our son had just gotten a bad hit to the head from a foul ball (he was catching). He was hit on the ear and thrown backward, resulting in a mild concussion, ringing in the ears, bad headache. Thank God for catcher's helmets, and what a blessing it was that I missed that class. I was very grateful to be able to be with my son through all the assessments and to take him home and comfort him.

Goes to show, you just never know....

So true! I never complain about traffic, I always think I'm stuck for a reason, probably a good one. Hope your son is healing happily!!!

Next big step... 5K!

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I just registered for my first 5K on May 26 - one day before I turn 50! I know I'll be mostly walking - if not all walking - but it is a big step for me to do something in public like that. I just hope I don't embarrass my 13-year-old son, who is the real runner of the family. He will probably place in his age-group then come back and pick me up - but that's OK! I am doing it!

Nice! I did a 5k 2 years ago and I'm thinking of doing another. I walked it in under an hour which was my goal. It was fun to increase my mile time and see progress. I was nervous about walking in front of folks but there were so many people and supporters that it didn't matter. Super thing to do! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

he should be proud of you...it is not about winning it, it is about doing it for good cause.
and the added bonus is that you are doing it for your health as well.

Way to Go!

Thank You to my walking buddy...

Friday, March 30, 2012

my dog-friend MacEnroe. I had a blasted allergy-headache yesterday, and as husband and son were at baseball practice, just thought I'd lie down on the couch for a while after work. Mackie had other ideas, and vigorously reminded me that we both needed a good walk. Can't say it made my headache go away, but it did improve my mood! Thanks, Mackie!

Dogs are so great. I do wish I had one. I looked into walking some at the shelter but I work to late. One day! Have a good one...
