Is there such a thing as drinking too much water?

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

It has been over 80degrees and I have been downing water like crazy all day. So refreshing in a large mason jar with lemon, cucumber, basil, and strawberry. It has kept my appetite down but I feel like I have been living in my bathroom peeling like crazy! (TMI) sorry. Now I have to ask myself is there too much of a good thing when it comes to water. I feel full can't even imagine binge eating tonight but not sure my bladder can take this.

Yes, you actually can have too much water! If you over hydrate yourself you can mess up your electrolyte balance. I actually did this a couple years ago participating in a 10K. Toward the end of the event I was not feeling well, thought I was going to pass out, however managed to complete the event but was barely able to walk to the medical tent. My body was all out of whack. I ended up with an IV of something to help get the balance back.

HAHAHA!!! I think my new boss thinks I have a bladder issue!! I go to the ladies room almost every hour LOL!! NEVER TOO MUCH WATER!! Especially if its helping your appitie!! Trips to th eladies room is a small price to pay for the benefits that water is doing for your body, your skin, and your appitite!!

I am having a similar issue. It seems like I spend more time in the bathroom than anywhere else. emoticon emoticon At least we are getting our water in

Yes you can have too much water. It is called water intoxication and it is a serious medical emergency. You should do an internet search if you seriously feel you are taking it too much. And yea when I drink lots I go lots and lots. Oh and lots.

The early morning negativity monster!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

You know that monster I think he lives under our beds! he creeps in around 5AM when its time to get up and get that morning workout in! He thinks he is slick while he whispers those negative thoughts into our ears! "Don't get up, Don't workout, you are too sore, Stay in bed, You can sleep longer and do it longer, eat donuts for breakfast, junk food is good for your soul, You just can't do it!"
But little does he know that I am not afraid of monsters and no little negativity beast is going to get me down! After hearing him grumble on and on for about ten minutes I am happy to yell at Him "NO I am not falling into your trap! I am getting my butt up, working out, eating right and moving forward in my life not back ward!" This tends to put him off for the majority of the day but sometimes he likes to pop back in and whisper another negative thought into our heads and its our job to push him back out and fill our minds with the positive! If we listen to the negative monster and we believe all of his garbage then our minds become negative and we believe we can't do it! and when we believe something that becomes our reality!
Well my reality is YES I CAN! YES I WILL! YES I AM! Doing this!!!!!!!!!!

Frustrated but still going strong!

Sunday, April 21, 2013

So this morning It was time to climb on the scale and to my dismay I gained 3 pounds! WTF was my reaction and still is! I have done everything right this week I've worked out for a week strait every day, have stayed in my calorie range, and have drank all my water! I am in shock I have worked hard this week and expected to see some results not a back track! how did this happen? Yesterday I did my measurements and found a 4 inch loss on my waist and hips and was so proud I am seeing results but why this gain? I love how I have been feeling and I see and feel the difference in how my clothes are fitting. I just don't get it! Maybe because I'm not getting enough sleep I've been up and down every night! I just don't know! I am sharing the scale with a neighbor and think Tuesday I jut need to by one of my own but I liked borrowing hers so that I wouldn't obsess over every pound and climb on it more then once a week! I just don't know! anyone with any ideas please help!!!!!! I am still going to do what I know Is right for my body! still going to eat healthy and get my exercise in!

Don't despair! Sometimes these things happen even when we've been spot on. Who knows what your body is doing with fluid, muscle. Bowel movements can make a big different (sorry - sudden awkwardness!)

Don't give up. The numbers will drop. Keep doing what you know is right.

The inches are coming off? Excellent! You'll get there. emoticon Pat

I recently read a Spark Article that said to not focus on the scale, but to look at other results - I think your inches is a great positive step!

Don't get discouraged. There are so many reasons you have shown a weight gain. If you have moved the scale, weighing at different times of the day, wearing different clothing, even eating or drinking something different before weighing could cause a weight gain. It sounds like you made good choices this past week and lost inches. Keep up the good work and you will see the results.

When you say you are borrowing your neighbors scale, does that mean you are moving it to your house, and then taking it back?

I have found that I have to keep the scale in the same place, weigh at the same time of day, and have the same clothes (i prefer no clothes) on.

I literally can have a one to two pound change in my weight just by where the scale is.

Also are you weighing on a hard floor, not carpet?

Just a thought~ Keep going, you will see results!!!

Your last two lines answered most of the question:

I am still going to do what I know Is right for my body! still going to eat healthy and get my exercise in!

Good. Now ditch the scale for at least a month. Preferably longer.

Hi hun - I know that at different times of the day - your weight will vary - so don't feel terrible about a number - when we do that it really hurts ourselves - and makes it harder to stay on track - weigh yourself once a week and at the same time of the day - and put the scale away until that day, cause each day, due to stress, water retention, time of day can all make the scale fluctuate in ways that dissapoint us

Remember we choose how we feel about anything and everything and today choose to be proud of yourself and that will help you stay focused!!

You feel better - inches have come off CONGRATULATIONS THIS IS WONDERFUL!!!!

Took this month to slowly start back up and saw results this week!

Monday, January 28, 2013

So after going back and forth for almost 3 years now I decided to get back on track! I did not set any New Years resolutions since I always seem to set myself up for failures but i did set small goals to be reached throughout the next few years! No timeline just things i want to cross off my list!
I took this month to get back and to figure out what works for me and what does not! I learned that weekends are my weakest points! That is when my stress level is at its highest this kids and husband are home and Wanting food that isn't exactly healthy for them. they feel that they are not the ones that need to lose weight so they should be able to have some junk! I am hoping this changes as I incorporate healthier snacking for the children and healthier dinners for the family.

But my oldest daughter and I this week did get out and about taking the dogs for walks and spending some one on one time. I am concerned about her the Dr. says she is about 5 pounds over weight and is 11 years old she is a very curvy young lady already and i don't want to have her face the pressures and embarrassment of obesity like I have. But at the same time I do not want her to lose her self confidence and think she is fat so we are just increasing our activity, drinking water and cutting out the fatty snacks and she seems ok with all of it.

This week I have made sure to drink all 8ounces everyday even if it did not get tracked , eat breakfast every day no matter what and have tried to stay in my calorie range all week. there were days I did not get as much exercise as I wanted but i did get in some and it all paid off!

I have to say this is a good start to getting back on track! And it is only the beginning! I know I have tons of hurdles to cross but it feels so good and I am halfway to my first goal of 10 lbs lost! I am so proud of me!!!!

I went over my calories both on Saturday and Sunday!
No excuses I put the food in my mouth!
Tomorrow is another day and I can pat myself on the back for at least getting all my water in that is a plus!
Have to move forward! I have a walk planned in the morning after the kids leave for school!
I am going to do this for me I deserve to be healthy!
I feel myself getting bigger and bigger sicker and sicker!
I will make myself healthier and smaller!

You can do this! You're right, you have to do it for yourself. Getting into that mindset is one of the hardest things, but it will help you along the way. This is your year!
