What is going on with me?

Monday, March 10, 2014

Last week I did not want to deal with anything or anyone. One of my best friends passed away in his sleep. It was such a shock and I found it very hard to deal with. Now that I am writing, I know I should have come here and just write about it. Today, I am feeling much better. I am just waiting for warmer weather. Last Wednesday I went to water aerobics and low and behold I could not do the class because I had a cramp in my left calf that would not go away. I wonder if the trampoline is causing the cramps. Some one on this site told me to do leg stretches. The next time I get up on it, which will be soon, I will do some stretches when I am finished. I am also getting my grandson ready for prom and graduation. His sister is going to the prom with him, so we are looking for dresses. OMG, shopping with a 14 year old. It might not be so bad. So, in the coming weeks I will be very busy. By the way, my weight went back to 200. I am still on this journey. "NOT GIVING UP." emoticon

Praying for peace and comfort - look to Him and rest in His promises-reading Psalms has always helped me.

Haha.. shopping with a 14 yr. old!
I am feeling at wit's end too for the last few days. Holding my tongue is getting harder and harder. Anyway, my water aerobics class helped a bunch. Make sure you are getting enough potassium.. eat a few bananas a week is my favorite way. When class starts do the warm ups.. stretching those muscles out is key. Cool down is possibly more important for preventing cramps too. Don't give up.. most of the work is just getting yourself to the pool.

When we grieve we all do it differently but coming here and getting the support from your Sparkfam is also wonderful. There have been many times I just needed a sounding board and they always gave me difficult but the right answers. Be encouraged and so glad you are back to 200. Prom oh my gosh how I loved shopping with my daughter!! Now all I have is suits vests ties and shirts.... so boring. Nothing like a lovely gown for a young lady. My daughter would hate how picky and how I fussed that she looked just right but the teachers and assistants at the dances would compliment her on looking beautiful and dressing like a little lady.

God bless & hugs!!

Dee

Snowed in Again

Monday, March 03, 2014

Well, today is like none other for the past month. We have snow again and lots of it. It is coming down very fine and accumulating. I have jury duty tomorrow and I am so not looking forward to it. I brought a trampoline. emoticon I am starting out slow on it only 5 to 10 minutes and I will be building up my time. I like it. I am also having some cramping in my legs. I know about the potassium thing, however, there are so many things I am allergic to and cannot eat. I am also working on that. My weight is finally out of the 200s and I am going to work very hard not to get into the range again. Well, one day at a time. Today I will do my best. emoticon

Woo Hoo !!! Congrats on getting to ONE-derland !!! I have been trying to get there for the last 2 years but have managed to maintain instead.

The trampoline sounds like so much fun, is it a small one you use in your home?

I used to suffer from RLS but have hardly had any episodes in the last 4 years. I agree I think it's the water. I always get my 8 in everyday and then some !!!

I hope they don't pick your number tomorrow, take a good book.

    emoticon Welcome to Onederland!

Congrats on the emoticon

I used to get leg cramps from taking my cholesterol meds in the morning instead of the evening. I don't know why that is, but since the switch I have not had any.

Onward & Downward!

Congratulations on getting to Onederland! Way to go!

Yes, make sure you are hydrating enough. Also, the cramping can be from the muscles tightening so make sure you do calf stretches after your trampoline workouts.

Welcome to onederland! Good for you. Cramping in the legs can also be caused by not enough water. Try to increase it and see what happens. Otherwise your best bet food wise is potatoes and bananas. Hopefully you are not allergic to either of those.

SodaStream

Monday, February 17, 2014

Saturday I was at the Walmart and I brought a SodaStream. I have been looking at this device for a long time, at least 2 years. Anyway, I purchased it. I am a seltzer water drinker. I love it warm/cold. So with the SodaStream I have my seltzer water without the cost. Of course I will have to replace the CO-2 bottle when it runs out, but $15.00 compared to $11.00 total more than once a month is quite a saving. My grandchildren like it because they can have soda without the sugar.

I am very happy to have made this purchase. emoticon emoticon

Snowed In

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Well, I guess I have joined the many people in the US that are snowed in. I know I am not going out in this weather. My son cleared the front of my house and now the snow is back. I will probably go out and clear it again. My eating is getting out of control already and it is only 11:18 a.m. It may get better and it may not. I know it is the choice I have to make. So on with today. I will enjoy life as it is handed to me, one minute at a time. emoticon

It's good that you recognized what brings on the extra calories. TRACK for the rest of today and tomorrow at least. I am going through it too. Hubby and the neighbor did the plowing. He left for work (the ONLY person I know going to work.. unless you count his boss as well.) Afterwards I have found myself snacky. Going to have to make my turkey chili extra lean today.

No Water Today

Monday, February 10, 2014

I drove all the way to the pool, to find out it is not operating because of a failed motor. I guess it keeps the water warm. So that was my exercise for today. I am thinking about going to Walmart to get some exercise equipment. The weather here is so iffy. This morning we had ice on the streets and sidewalks, but we could get around. I am just waiting for warmer weather. The winter does not give me motivation to do anything. Also, I am having a problem with my left shoulder. It is giving me such pain. I am going to do find out about it next week. I will not give up. I will get this done. emoticon

Good for you Carrie stay strong and hang in there, Spring is on the way !!! I hate winter it is not my time of year at all. I just want to stay in and stay warm. It is really taking it's toll on me this year, probably because it is the worse we have had in a long time.

I will keep you in prayer for God's healing touch. Take care friend.

The pool I use is connected to the school system so you can just imagine how much we cannot use it.

Try some of the spark exercise videos. I like this one for a quick core workout:

I had the same idea of using different sized cans as exercise weights. You might check the Internet for ideas of ways to use common household items in exercising.

I am sorry to hear that your shoulder is painful --- I lifted prayer for your healing.

God bless!

If you have a couple of cans of vegetables or soup, they can sub for small dumbbells and you can find dumbbell routine/videos on Sparkpeople. Also, marching in place or dancing to whatever music you prefer.

You can do exercises on the right shoulder and rest the left until you get it checked out.

Hang in there, Spring is 38 days away, it just FEELS like 100!
