HOLY Smokes!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Well, NOW I've done it! This morning I signed up to participate in a 1/2 mile walk next week for the American Heart Association! So, now I'm in training!!!

As I'm still using a walker, training consists of me doing my "Chair Workouts": Stretching/Yoga on M,W,F & Cardio/Strength on T,H,Sa. Clearly, its NO marathon, but hey, for me, its a GIANT step forward!

Here's a link to the walk:

I ordered lovely pink dumbells from The package arrived today w/ ONE dumbell in it, WHAT?! I never heard of such a thing - don't these usually come in sets of two? Oh BROTHER! Holy frustration, BatGirl!!!

This is TOO weird ~ later today, a 2nd package arrived from containing the twin pack of Chair Workout DVDs that I ordered. Strangely, their exercises call for using only ONE dumbell. So, in the end, the Universe came through & I'm all set!

PS- @GiantSteps, the shipping was FREE (Yippee!!!)

Dumbells and weights are an item usually cheaper locally. The shipping is usually prohibitively expensive. Funny thing is when I buy a pair of dumbells the clerk always feels compelled to tell me that they are priced signally and I can buy one if I want. I guess a lot of people assume they come in pairs.

I know that's frustrating, but that is the way they are sold. Unless it says a set, it means only one. Take a look at Target... you, can actually buy one dumbbell.

"SlimDownSLO" Support Group

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Yesterday I started creating a support group for folks in San Luis Obispo, California (along the Central Coast), who want to improve their healthy lifestyle by losing weight.
I developed a blog: and a SPARK Team for SlimDownSLO.

My idea is to "build it & they will come." In the meantime, I'm spreading the word...

Forming Local Support Group

Monday, March 28, 2011

Am going to see my doctor today & will ask about forming a support group for folks with 50-100+ lbs to lose. Have added 1lb weights to my seated chair workout & have lost 4.6 lbs since starting the program about a week ago.

The Spark

Sunday, March 27, 2011

I walked up to the library in the rain yesterday to pick up a copy of "The Spark," which I had ordered via interlibrary loan. I was thrilled to see that it was published by Hay House, so I knew that it would be on my wave length. Am really enjoying reading it & am sure it will help me to better understand the website!

Hi Russell! I was surprised that Chris started this without having had serious weight issues himself. Am only on page 29, but so far all of the visualization, positive affirmations,& gratitude, as related to purpose/vision/goals, are things that I grew up with in New Thought (not to be confused w/ New Age). So, the information feels quite comfortable to me. Hope all is going well w/your journey!
