sleet

Thursday, March 06, 2014

Hubby and I have been busy all day, removing sleet. this beautiful winter scene is not snow but 6-8 inches of sleet. little balls of ice,6 to 8 inches of it. our weather man said in his 14 years as a weather man he never saw so much sleet. this is our collasped shed, with all the weight of the sleet it collasped, the ice pile I stacked after hubby got it off the roof of the shed. Hubby looking at roof of shed. I cleared part of the walk way. I will finish tomorrow, the ice is very heavy and I didn't want to over do it. side view of shed and another ice pile, we had 4 piles of ice. we will be out there tomorrow doing more work with the sleet. arkansas called out the national guard to clear roads, they still are not all cleared yet.

Oh, Carolyn, I am so sorry for this accumulation of sleet! I have never heard of so much!
Your poor shed.
Hopefully there will be a silver lining that will show itself, after it is all said and done.
Please take your time so you all do not hurt yourselves.
We are getting warmth, this weekend and praying you get it too. emoticon emoticon

Wow, what a freak of nature. I've never heard of anything like that. Sorry you had to endure that.

What a racket that must have made! Never heard of such an accumulation of sleet before. And all the work that was put into the shed.!! May God send warm sunshine to melt the sleet and strength to make the repairs.

Oh my, Carolyn! What a lot of heavy sleet you have there and so much work clearing it off walk way & roofs!! Do take it easy, don't try to get it all done in one or two days. It won't go anywhere, take your time.

Thinking of you!

My new neighbor who moved across the street from me the end of October found herself without heat a couple of weeks ago. Was told the part would not be obtained for about a month. Last week it was the water pipes (and still no heat). Seems like I've heard a similar story before. Probably lots of times with our very cold winter. emoticon

Oh Carolyn, you'll really be enjoying doing things now. It would be drastic to not have water. I'm glad you're all set with that!

Just in time

Friday, February 07, 2014

Hubby and son made it out today and were able to get propane and grocery's. It was just in time as our last propane ran out. our gravel roads ( about 2 miles of twisty road) was ice coated, the main roads were clear. they told me it took about 45 minutes just to get to the main road. they slipped and slid down our gravel roads. and while they were out they got chains for the tires, and so made it home...yea!!!. Hubby hurt his back loading the propane tanks into the car ,he slipped and fell twice. So he is resting and taking it easy right now. I was very worried while they were gone, but thankfully they made it back o k .

So one problem solved,as we still have a week of very cold weather ahead of us, tomorrow they ,hubby and son, will try to solve our no water problem( pipes froze about 4 days ago). hopefully they will have a good out come like they did today.

Great to get these things done when you can, the weather is so unpredictable! We're to have it really cold for a while here too!

I am blessed to not have to get propane. It doesn't like to flow in this cold weather either.

snowed in

Saturday, December 07, 2013

yes we are snowed in.thursday my DH took our son to the dentist,he had 5 teeth pulled.I told ray (my son),"you better stay home friday, going to have very bad weather". well like most men he went to work friday. he was leaving work early as the roads were closing because of the weather, when he called DH , he was stuck couldn't get any farther, he did manage to get his car about 2 1/2 miles away,so DH went out in the truck to get him.well on there way back home DH put the truck in the ditch, about a mile away. so they walked home and here we sit with both veichle's stuck. but I have a freezer full and supplies in and most important we are all safe and warm. don't know when we will be able to get the veichle's as we are supposed to have very cold weather all week.

Just like men they think that they can get through any type of snow. Even with trucks. Well at least you all are safe and warm too.

Quiet and Beautiful

Thursday, October 31, 2013

This is our road in front of our property, and very beautiful this time of the year.every where you look right now the trees are very beautiful, the colors fantastic.some times we get so busy we don't take time to stop and look at our surroundings. It is great to remember to do that every now and then.

this is looking down our driveway.

this is the place we are going to put our mobile home. we have been very busy taking down trees and clearing and working practially every day. but last week-end we took time off and spent it with friends and enjoyed the week-end.
It's quiet and breath takingly beautiful here ,and so good for the soul.

Those are some nice pictures. Nature picks up my mood.

I have a similar sight where my windows face a city park. I lost count of how many trees there are, but they are all beautiful. People may not stop and enjoy nature, but no one come by my window without observing the beauty.

Very beautiful and peaceful too. You are so lucky to have that. Wish I could go back to the country living but now that my husband is gone that will not happen unless I win the lottery and that will not happen because I don't buy them things. Waste of money.
