100 days ago I joined a Spark Team called 100 DAYS TO A NEW YOU. I had gotten to the place where I wanted too many sweets and my weight had crept up from maintenance some 15 lbs. so I decided to take the challenge of 100 days with NO SWEETS.
Someone befriended me and that was encouragement as they said it would get easier as time went on, and they were right!
You see, I love to cook and bake, especially for my three grandchildren who have to have gluten free foods. I never eat their baked goods, but my husband, who has no weight problem, also enjoys goodies, so I bake for him and I give away a lot of the things I make.
Did I stop baking or dipping chocolates for 100 days? NO, I continued but never even licked one finger of sweets. Wasn't always easy, but determination persisted!
I did allow myself nut breads every now and then, but my nut breads contain Splenda and a full cup of either wheat germ or flaxseed, so I considered them healthy.
Did I lose weight? Yes, about 9 lbs.
This week we celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary and our son and wife have their 20th on the same date, so the four of us will go to a nice restaurant for dinner and I am not going to worry about getting the cheapest dinner or the dinner with the lowest calories. We just don't go for big celebrations. I plan to eat a few sweets in moderation, then start another 100 days, which will take me through Thanksgiving and Christmas and I think that will be best for me.
I am very proud of my accomplishments! Are you interested in joining me?
