Do Our Kids Spoil Us???

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

For a change the sun shone most of the day. Took our friends to the Lake House (which belongs to son and wife) where we saw our new wing of house with a huge bedroom, very large bath, walk-in closet with one big area for computer table, etc. What a surprise!!! Gorgeous as it overlooks the lake!!! Our kids DO spoil us!!!

A Day in The Life of A Senior!!!

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Got that exercise today! Both water aerobics and fruit picking as well as painting!
Started day at 6:30 AM and prepared food for Pot Luck Breakfast.
Chuck went to church breakfast with men while I went to Rainbow breakfast.
He stayed at church to paint in kitchen and I went in later to paint.
Went about noon to Eagle Lake (our friend's grove) to pick a couple of boxes of grapefruits, one for Gordon and one for our Chuckie.
Also went thru Bartow to get money from bank.
Stopped at Beall's Outlet and found a lot of things I wanted, especially dressy sandals to wear to wedding. Then laughed when I got home because I said, "They don't look like shoes for a 77 year old woman".
Picked nectarines and peaches which are experimental for Howard to grow. Excellent flavor.
Didn't get to pool until after 6 PM but worked out for 1 1/2 hours. Felt good!!!
Now I'm late Sparkin', but will do what I can.

    Carol,
Wow loved your activity in this blog. Sounds like you are happy with yourself and you sure keep busy! That has got to be very healthy.

I am 53 but in my mind and heart I feel like I am in my twenty to thirty's most of the time. So I constantly get comments from hubby and sons that my music taste is totally weird for my age. I every now and then catch myself in the mirror and that light goes on in my head that sayes does this look like and outfit a 50 something would be wearing, and then I blow it off with I feel good in it so who cares. No I don't kid myself that I can wear clothes unappropriate for my age, but I also do not feel that I need to dress like I was 100 either. Continue to be yourself and just let it go. If it works for you that is all that is important. I find the older I get the less I care about what others think about me, just not too important to me anymore. Hugs Susan

EXERCISE ON A RAINY DAY!!!

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Usually we get a tropical rain shower here in FL, then the sun comes out and it is hot and humid. Not today! Rain started last evening with some through the night and when it started raining before 6 AM it never stopped all day. Just the kind of rain the drought areas need.
About 1 PM I suggested to DH that we go into the church and clean and it will be done for Sunday. (Many of us volunteer to do this in order to save the church money.) We swept and dusted for at least 2 1/2 hrs. Up the steps, down the steps, sweep the steps, the choir loft and the balcony as well as the sanctuary. Needless to say, I am dead tired tonight and I got good exercise on a rainy day when I couldn't walk and do my water aerobics!!!

How Easily Our Routine is Upset!!!

Friday, March 08, 2013

I am supposed to be blogging about all the things I am doing to make improvements in my "healthy eating" and "healthy way of life" and I have not had very good days lately. Our son and wife flew in to see DH play ball and I have been cooking and getting ready for them. Then I try to eat while cooking breakfast and one of my goals is to sit down and eat my meals.
It is also very hard to measure all foods when there are guests at each meal.
Tonight I am very tired and must go to bed before doing much Sparkin'.
See you all tomorrow, I hope!

Enjoy the time together, but side step the treats. Having guests always seems to involve forbidden food . emoticon

You're right...when our routines are shifted, it's harder to keep the eating right. I'm anxious about my trip out West for this reason. I really want to stay on plan while I am gone because I do not want to gain, would love to lose, and don't want to have to get "back on track" when I get back. Do your best with it. Any steps you can take to stay on track will be well worth it. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

Always Room for Improvement!!!

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Who doesn't have room for improvement???
Seems as though we always have an area that needs worked on.
My blogs of the last three days still are where I need improvement:
1. Drinking water rather than tea.
2. Not tasting while cooking.
3. Measuring accurately everything I eat.

I will try to show improvement in these areas.
